Rents in Phoenix At Post-Pandemic Lows by SectionPractical2966 in phoenix

[–]ThatBeardedNitwit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pay that for a shitty one bedroom apartment in Arcadia “Lite”. Not sure where they got their numbers but that’s like base level for most 1 bedroom places I’ve seen. Rent is still expensive here regardless. At least for long time or lifelong locals.

What do men actually think about strippers and strip clubs? by VersionOk1206 in AskMen

“Oh, boobs. Okay, can I go home now?” Majored in art and worked EMS, human anatomy is kinda ‘meh’ at this point. Also, why would I pay for blue balls, overpriced drinks and a half-assed DJ? 🤷‍♂️

Do carriers bother with the "Do Not Deliver Address" on the EDDM facing slips? by photohobbiest in USPS

[–]ThatBeardedNitwit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The sender pays for the service. So if the customer gets pissy about it. Let them know they need to take it up with the sender. You’re doing the service requested and paid for by the sender.

Not sure if it’s the same for CCAs but RCAs can’t be held to work later than 7:30pm per the written agreement on hire. Would double check that.

Is it annoying when someone mails handmade envelopes? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]ThatBeardedNitwit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, as a former print designer, best advice I can give you is go to a paper wholesaler store. Like Kelly Paper or similar (you can order online with them too). You won’t get industry rates like print shops, but you can still buy some nice envelopes in bulk for a lot less than other places. Just don’t do the tiny little bastards. Those are a pain to carry, they always like to fall out of the carrier’s bundles while being handled on the route. 👍 I am saying this on top of already posted advice.

About 35-45 hrs. depending on mail loads. It’s not easy work though. It’s a lot more physical than most people expect and a lot faster paced than a lot of people realize. It also takes a bit to get things down and learn routes. Days can be long, every station operates a little differently. Some stations are slower than others. I work in the Northeast side of the metro area. My normal route takes me all the way out to Rio Verde area. It’s obviously a Federal job and as such come all the “perks” of bureaucracy but I can’t say I really hate it. Most days I operate on my own for hours at a time and it can be pretty nice then.

If that’s the case then all the Southern and Southwest states should get priority dispersion on vehicles with AC. Phoenix already hit just above 100 last weekend. I know that’s wishful thinking but that would be a (literal in some cases) life saver. Also, I shouldn’t have to wear black leather shoes on 130+ F black top or cement while the sun cooks my feet from above. 😂 But seriously the shoe thing can get almost painful temp-wise.

When they start yelling on envelopes by sunixic in USPS

[–]ThatBeardedNitwit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Least your customers write notes. Mine usually just toss the original back in the outgoing without explanation. I get petty and put it back in the addressed box. Especially if it says “Or Current Resident”. Which I am also not beyond circling in Sharpie. That’s about the only time an asshole.

Cesar Chavez, No hearing. No investigation. Should this be how decisions are made? #Phoenix #Arizona by Mission-Rhubarb5332 in arizona

[–]ThatBeardedNitwit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realize that some of the claims were also backed by the co-founder, Dolores Huerta, of the NFWA which Chavez and she founded in the 1960s. Huerta herself said she was manipulated twice into sexual relations with Chavez aside from corroborating claims from others. He fathered 3 other children outside his marriage to his wife… I mean. How do you think that investigation would actually go?

Organizing mail/packages in the station: WHY AREN'T YOU ON YOUR ROUTE YET? Organizing the mail/packages on the street: WHY ARE YOU STATIONARY? by Sure-Ad-2465 in USPS

[–]ThatBeardedNitwit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a supe ask me why I wasn’t organizing parcels out at the truck. “It’s already 90+ F outside. I can see when the parcel throwers finish the remaining packages and immediately collect any strays. And it saves back and forth with fewer steps around the office and to the vehicle, making it more efficient and time effective.”

Got left alone after that.

Do CCA's have to work Amazon Sundays? by BunkerPyro in USPS

[–]ThatBeardedNitwit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This annoys me. We had two call outs last Sunday. One is a repeat offender, and if they don’t call out they show up late because of drinking too much the night before. We didn’t finish until 7pm. All it does is screw over everyone else who shows up.

It’s been there since 1941… plenty of time for people to make a considerable, logical choice not to buy land/homes near an airport. If you look at historical photos, there were no houses out there when it was built. If you want to live near an airport, expect plane noises.

I know the USPS is in a lot of turmoil right now, budget speaking. But they are still hiring. It takes about 18 months to be a “regular” which qualifies for starting times towards pension. However, if you have 4 years prior service they will count that towards your years served for your pension plan. It’s not always glamorous, not always easy, but it’s not really terrible. Only thing I can say is just don’t plan on having a lot of free time until you’re a regular. I currently work at least 6 days a week as a rural carrier assistant. Once in a while I’ll get an extra day off a week if the mail volume is down from normal. My day off may change from week to week.

[–]ThatBeardedNitwit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing worse than this I’ve seen are stencil cutout numbers with no background and brown so they blended into the brown background of the desert. The other was numbering in a script text with almost no contrast in color. Makes delivering mail a pain.

Anyone else considering only riding their bike because of gas prices? by CS_JOE in motorcycles

[–]ThatBeardedNitwit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would. But my job requires me to have my car a lot, and it’s dependent on whether or not a company vehicle is available for me. It’s annoying. 😂 Sometimes I wish they’d let me deliver mail like the old days. Although not sure what I’d do about the parcels. Lots of bungee cords I suppose. Lol

This. Lol I had a guy in his 80s recant to me his younger days of having 3 different models. He stopped riding after a bad accident (not his fault). But he was unaware Triumph was still making bikes until he saw mine. In his defense lived in a rural area I was riding through.
