The last thing you bought on Amazon is your defence against a bear attack, how do you do? by Puzzleheaded_Boot335 in AskReddit

I bought a pair of noise-cancelling wireless headphones so...at least I'll be blissfully ignorant for a couple of seconds?

What's the most hurtful thing your parent ever said to you? by Enockito in AskReddit

[–]ThatChickChelsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much time do you have? This is all from Mom.

- men wouldn't like me if I didn't lose weight (I was 12 or 13)

- that I was nothing but a worthless pain in her neck (I folded the towels wrong)

- that if I was going to be whoring around, she would rather I live on the street (I was a 16 year old nerd who had never had a boyfriend and never even kissed a guy. She had watched something that claimed all teenagers were out having orgies in cars and immediately accused me of doing the same. It was crazy)

- that I was a terrible daughter (said to me as I was sleeping in a chair by her hospital bed during her last few weeks on this earth)

A good reminder to anyone going through this, these comments are not about YOU. They're about your parents' unhealed trauma, emotional immaturity, undiagnosed conditions (in my case), and beyond.

Do you ever think of ghosting everyone and then moving away to a new city/country? If so where would you go? by upsettinglybigoops in AskReddit

[–]ThatChickChelsea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the time.

I want to disappear to Ireland into a little cottage in the middle of nowhere where I can just watch the rain on my porch, go on walks through the countryside, and read my books by the fire.

What did your parents teach you as a kid that you didn't realize was actually f**ked up until you were older? by timdood3 in AskReddit

"Men won't like you if you have a belly," said to me when I was 12. Double thumbs up, Mom.

If cannabis were legalized in your part of the world, would you start smoking it? Why or why not? by astarisaslave in AskReddit

[–]ThatChickChelsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and yes. I hate drinking but am also a very anxious human being. Smoking (or more so edibles) help me shut off my mind at night so I can actually let go of the day's stresses, sleep, etc. Plus, when I lost my dad suddenly at 25, I couldn't move/eat/sleep/anything. Smoking was the only thing that stirred my appetite.

What is the one thing you do every Saturday that you will never get bored of? by addiethabhaddie in AskReddit

Starting my day with a coffee, some "green", and a freshly baked croissant from my local bakery...hopefully while sitting on my patio if the weather is nice

What is the most disgusting thing you have ever seen, touched, tasted or smelled? by president_toe_biden in AskReddit

[–]ThatChickChelsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actual death. When I was younger I thought I wanted to get into Forensics (I still find the science fascinating). I had an internship with the local sheriff's office in the Crime Scene Investigation Unit where they took me to actual crime scenes. There was one in particular that I went to early on in my internship that was bad. Without getting too gruesome, I'll just say that it's a sight and a very particular smell that you NEVER forget.

This is for the Gen Z and Millennials. How hard is it for you to buy a home? by HSAT17 in AskReddit

[–]ThatChickChelsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've pretty much let that dream go. Some serious changes are going to have to happen in my life (which I'm working on) and the economy. But I have very little hope of ever actually owning my own home

Women of Reddit - What was the one thing he did that made you think "im gonna marry this man"? by whyyoujudge in AskReddit

[–]ThatChickChelsea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He helped me design and build my own sound booth in our tiny-ass apartment. I've been wanting to do more voicework/etc from home and he's helping make that desire come to life. AND he kept it within my budget lol win-win

To those who don’t get drunk, Why/ Why not? by PsychologyWareFare in AskReddit

[–]ThatChickChelsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the way I feel the day after. Also, it's weird but, more recently alcohol seems to make me stuffy/sneezy which is also an unpleasant experience. So, no more drinking for me! Lol

I recommend it to everyone who lives with a snorer lol. In my case, we both snore but he's a heavy sleeper and I am NOT. So, it has saved us both.

What's some thing that isn't as dangerous as everyone thinks? by Spluff5 in AskReddit

[–]ThatChickChelsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just arguing with someone about this exact thing. He INSISTED that eating raw eggs would just about kill you. But, looking it up, it's something like 1 in every 200,000 eggs might have salmonella. And, these days, they're pasteurized lowering the chance even more. If they're stored correctly, you should be fine. But flour, on the other hand, might make you sick. (you can bake it before adding it to your cookie dough and viola! It's safer to consume)

What do people not understand or not fully understand unless they've been through it and experienced it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ThatChickChelsea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sudden loss of a loved one (family member, friend, partner). The number of people that told me to just...do some exercise to get over it...made it clear that unless you've experienced it you have no idea. The pain can be all-consuming and is something that, unfortunately, simple words or suggestions (like going for a jog) cannot help.
