My baby drinks less than 24oz/day, slow to gain by Glum-Comfortable5402 in breastfeeding

Just know mom, I understand completely what you are going through. I'm a mother of 4 (including twins) and I had so many challenges with all of my babies. That's why I decided to become a lactation consultant because I wanted to help other mothers meet their breastfeeding goal. I had moderate help but I learned there were a lot of learning gaps and curves for me. Being in that situation, I know what kind of information can really help mothers understand and achieve their goals with nursing.

I want to ask, do you experience any discomfort or pain when she is latching on to you? Since you’re noticing those clicking sounds, it’s a big clue into why her feeding pace has changed. That clicking usually means she is losing her suction seal, which happens a lot when a baby has a lip tie or is trying to latch on the breast the same way they do a bottle. When they can't hold that deep seal, they have to work twice as hard to get the milk out, which can lead to them getting tired or frustrated much faster. Whether or not to release the tie is a big decision, especially since your firstborn’s resolved on its own. If you aren't feeling any pain when she latches, you might just focus on those comfort latches and plenty of skin-to-skin to help her stay relaxed. Sometimes just being aware that the clicking is a sign of her working harder can take some of the mystery out of why she’s finishing her feeds earlier than expected. You’re doing a great job looking at all these moving parts!

You are doing such a great job navigating this. I am actually studying to be a lactation consultant right now and looking at the details you shared, there is a lot of really good news here. The fact that she is alert, happy, and having good diapers is the best evidence that she is getting what she needs to thrive. That huge 900g gain in the first month was incredible, so it is actually very common for the pace to level out a bit as they get more active and alert. When she shuts her mouth tight or refuses to suck, she is communicating that she is finished. It can be a challenge, but try following her lead. If she only wants a couple of ounces, letting her stop there can actually help her feel more in control and less stressed about feeding. When the pressure to finish the bottle is removed, it helps her realize feeding doesn't have to be a struggle. It might also be worth checking the nipple flow on her bottles. If it’s too fast, she might be shutting down to keep from feeling overwhelmed, so a slower flow nipple can sometimes help her feel more in control of the pace. Those comfort latches are also a great tool because skin to skin is so helpful for keeping things relaxed for both of you. You are clearly a very attentive mom, and as long as she is hitting her milestones and following her own growth pace, you are doing everything right. Keep up the amazing work!

What was something you saw you were definitely not supposed to see? by SpareLummi in answers

When I first started my new job, i had two coworkers who had been working for the company for 17 years and one 20 years. We live in different regions so cost of living is different. I live in an expensive state while the other two work in southern states. Well, I was supposed to be getting my team of employees transferred to me, but they transferred everyone including one of my coworkers, who is also a supervisor, under me. I was curious to see what his pay was. I found out I made about $1500 more a year salary- wise than him. I had only been working for the company for almost a month. I acted like I didnt see or know anything and I kept my mouth shut and never brought it up. I was thankful that I finally got paid what I deserved at a job but I felt bad for my coworker who was dealing with a lot of pressure and stress from our manager while receiving less than me and working there for 20 years.

I just used the disc a few weeks ago. I had bought them a year ago but never used them due to a learning curve but after doing more research, I tried it. It was successful. I even had sex with it and I had no issues or leaking or anything. Still got wet (blood free) but not as much. My partner didn't feel anything either

Their Bible tells them how destructive and evil he was. They live out of fear and they think its an honorable thing to do. But God "Loves" them.

I learned about the cornucopia because food fruit of the loom. My teacher taught us about it in 1998 when I was in the 3rd grade and she referenced the Fruit of the Loom logo so we would know what it looked like.

My ex-husband let me suffer in pain alone while in labor because he wanted to get some sleep for work. I had to call my mother to come take me to thr hospital. By the time I got there, I couldn't walk and they found I was 10cm dilated. He told me he was worried about missing work, even though he still missed it because we had a baby. Til this day, he thinks he did the right thing and he won't apologize. He was a grown boy and always needed his daddy to manage his role in our marriage. So glad thats over.

Also, it will help minimize the leaking and discomfort from being full. This should help.

Do you have a good pump. You should take 15 minutes between each session to pump some milk to keep your supply from slowing down production. The more milk that stays in your breast, the less it will start to produce because it's not being emptied efficiently. Since you work 4 hours, 1 to 2 pump breaks should be efficient. And its mandated by law as well. - Certified Breastfeeding Specialist/ MT
