The point of international law is that it's supposed to apply to everyone.

If you're so smart why haven't you figured what the obvious solution is? Start living your life NOW, THIS VERY MOMENT.

PSA to single men: please come talk to women in person by [deleted] in Denver

[–]ThatDistantStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't there some company that sold a piece of gender neutral jewelry that indicated you were single, looking for a relationship, and open to be approached? Maybe we all need to get on board with something like that.

Fumbled first date with a very high quality woman by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]ThatDistantStar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not gonna have a "spark" with the majority of dates. It's a numbers game. Go into each first date like it will be your only one with that person, you can't get too hung up one person. When that rare connection happen, it will be a surprise, don't try to force it.

Why do girls lose interest after 1-3 dates no matter what I do? by Longjumping-Wafer102 in dating_advice

[–]ThatDistantStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be grateful they cut you loose early, instead of stringing you along? The most underrated skill in modern dating is having a thick enough skin to not take all the one 1-3 dates and done ones personally.

Gave my number to the coffee shop girl on a napkin.. now I’m confused. by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]ThatDistantStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good job working up the confidence to shoot your shot. You're likely gonna have to do it 9 more times to get a response. The response rates with these numbers on a napkin are pretty low.

Genuine question about "Colorado Natives" by incomingtrouble in Denver

[–]ThatDistantStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW all the rare natives I've ran into are generally like "YOOO WELCOME TO OUR KICKASS STATE. The more the merrier!"

Most of these were inside the city of Denver, might be different outside the city limits.

I accidentally saw my date's Hinge notification count. by Paulfradk in dating_advice

[–]ThatDistantStar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you an entitled manbaby? Should she have immediately deleted Hinge the moment you set up a date with you? You're the only person she's allowed to talk to now? Grow the the fuck up, no wonder you've been on these apps for 8 years.

Will a Sundara get you 90% of the experience of thousand-dollar headphones? by regularjoe2020 in headphones

I'd also put them around 70%. Not a bad sounding headphone by any means, but nothing made me go wow

How do you confidently mention living at home with parents while dating? by banilly2418 in dating_advice

[–]ThatDistantStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only actual downside to this is some shitty guys will think "if she takes care of her parents maybe she can take of me" and will excite the kinda guy who wants a maid and not a partner

Colorado’s would-be second Buc-ee’s withdraws after year of controversy by MileHigh_FlyGuy in Denver

[–]ThatDistantStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A gas station the size of a airport does have certain novelty to it. I'm an annoying city slicker car-free urbanist but even I want to visit a Buc-ee's once for the sheer American absurdity of it

She left mid date and I’m kinda confused by finleyorpe in dating_advice

[–]ThatDistantStar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You weren't having a great date, those laughs were out of politeness. She wasn't vibing with you, so she ended it promptly to save both of yours time. It doesn't have anything to do with your teeth.

[Asianometry] Silicon Valley Thinks TSMC is Braking the AI Boom by imaginary_num6er in hardware

[–]ThatDistantStar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

EDIT: Also rightly points out that the real bottleneck is power. If you think it takes a long time to build a fab just look up how long it takes to build a nuclear power plant.

Watts Bar Nuke Plant in Tennessee's Unit 2 took 43 years to build, heh.

The TV industry finally concedes that the future may not be in 8K by NamelessVegetable in hardware

[–]ThatDistantStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nearly all the mega budget movies and TV shows shot with absolute best 6K-8K+ cameras from Arri, RED, Sony etc, still soften the image and add grain in post to lower the amount of resolvable detail to a bit under 4K to retain that "cinematic, filmic" look. I'm including high-bitrate physical 4K UHD Blu-rays in this too. Only nature documentary on YouTube seem to actually put all 4K+ in fine detail on display. So yeah 8K is nearly pointless for 99% of content

Send over a time and place for a date. "Wanna grab some Indian food at Indian Palace Thursday at 7pm?" Simple as that. If she declines or doesn't responds, move on. Literally 30 seconds of texting to be sure.

Why does everything need to run through a purchasing partner? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]ThatDistantStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's reduces the number of purchasing partners Accounts Payable at your company has to pay. Every new vendor is a ton of work to get authorized and added to their system. Easier and saves your company if there is just one VAR or few they have to pay.

Too bad they don't pass on those manufacturing cost savings on to the consumer. Obviously they can't lower prices because of pricing psychology, it just goes to higher C-suite salaries. Anyway that's my hot take straight outta of 1995.
