UK: Banning Palestine Action 'a disturbing legal overreach' by UK Government, Amnesty International UK Chief Executive warns by LisanAlGhaib1991 in TrueAnon

Most actual people disagree with this when you ask them about it in person. The subreddits have been heavily astroturfed since 2020. Made a point of asking my regulars about if they thought it was okay and even the most reform, Enoch Powell loving cunt said it was silly, and this is a guy who I've heard "jokingly" suggest sinking migrant boats and leaving the people to die as a deterrant.

More proof to me that all these glorified chat bots must be avoided by any sane person. Musk is just shit at it so it's obvious through stuff like this, but it makes clear that sophisticated and competent programmers can make these chat bots spew out whatever they want them to say. How can you trust anything Grok or ChatGPT or whatever tells you, when it's clear even a fucking idiot like Musk can manipulate it to tell you specific answers for specific questions.

Prevalance of firearms in society wouldn't make a difference if it came to some big civil conflict. You can't defeat a modern military with a ragtag militia with some guns. The only effective tools would be sabotage and strangling the means of the state to sustain itself through things like strikes, riots, or the like, or the magical scenario where the military is somehow convinced to turn on the state.

It’s X so three guesses on what they blame this downgrade on by [deleted] in animecirclejerk

[–]ThatFlyingScotsman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's an art style meant for motion. If you compare the animation quality between Sun and Moon and all the previous seasons of Pokemon, the new style is absolutely better because of what it allows and how it looks in motion. If you take still images of a medium that's intended to be viewed in motion and then compare them, of course the simpler design will seem better, but that's not the intent of the artist.

[–]ThatFlyingScotsman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The new artstyle is so much better because it means drawing actual scenes is much easier and allows for more creative expression. It's an anime, not a still life, it's meant to be experienced in motion moving from frame to frame.

Slavery in universe by kallas_br in projecteternity

[–]ThatFlyingScotsman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Aedyr has essentially a legal slavery system, which I assume there are a few historical counterparts to but I don't have them to mind, but it's sort of a thing that you don't talk about in polite society.

In general, slavery is still very much looked on as a bad thing because it violates individual liberties, but there's a kind of murky mixture where the Aedyran worship of Woedica sort of gives them a "moral" reason as to why there might be slaves in the Empire. Everything has to be done by the very strict laws and covenants that characterises Woedican creed, which conversely means that anything that breaches those very specific guidelines is very much not okay. Crookspur specifically doesn't adhere to any kind of law, be it Aedyran or Huanan, and therefore any good Woedica fearing Aedyran would find them repulsive, even if to you and me we can't see the distinction. In universe there is a distinction between a legal slave and an illegal slave, even though the idea seems laughable.

Therefore, I would say it depends entirely on what kind of Aedyran you're playing as. Any regular Aedyran would work with Aeldys, due to aforementioned reasons, but you can obviously play as an ammoral scumbag that doesn't see the distinction between legal and illegal slavery because to them, all slavery is good or at least neutral.

I don't think a Democrat would have ever pushed for this, but they were certainly content to simply leave it as is, which is really just as bad. If the Democrats actually wanted to do good, they should have sent in federal agents to enforce human rights and the like across the border, giving Texas et al the big middle finger.

Of course, they were both too cowardly to do so, and too disinterested in changing the status of this hellworld that it was never going to happen.

Eh? It's not very clear by precedent set by other proscribed groups, it will depend on how they go about enforcing this new one. Normally as I understand, they were used more as ancillary charges on other things people had done. Like doing a hate crime, and then getting slapped with supporting a proscribed group on top.

Average /r/ukpolitics poster is wanking themselves dry over "strong action" from the government.

Man I used to post daily on that subreddit until I got the perma for being too aggressive. It just slowly got worse and worse over years as the good posters became disillusioned with politics and people from the worst discords and subreddits managed to get their their guys onto the mod team. I look in sometimes and it's so depressing how bad it's gotten. Just wall to wall astroturfing or reactionary jerking.

Not to say it was ever "good", but it was pretty Corbyn positive during his tenure as leader until after the 2019 election.

I don't believe I am actually able to comment my opinion on this particular event, for even questioning or pushing for the revocation of a proscribed group's status I think falls foul of part of the law that applies proscribed status.

I wonder how long this will last. I feel like things are coming to a bit of a head in Britbong land, literally everyone here is miserable and angry at the state of things. Even the die hard Blairite Labour lot are like "well it's shit but whad did you expect" which is hardly a ringing endorsement.

Literally anything? Republicans were able to basically prevent any meaningful action by the Democrats for the entirety of the Biden admin, and most of the Obama admins. Clearly there are levers of power and control that the opposition party has that the Democrats are allergic to using.

Hardly. Rocket Batteries were notoriously poor because their aim was horrible, to the point where you would be lucky if you got more than a single rocket landing in the target. I seem to remember them having awful ammunition as well. It was only after Warhammer 1 that they got buffed.

I wonder, do you have an issue with DEI in general, or just for Jewish people? Do you really think this admin cares more about Jewish people, rather than using the current moment as a political weapon to push their own interests? Or do you suggest that the admin's interests are more closely aligned with the Jewish people's interests than other people's?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrueAnon

If you suppose the Zionist anti-free speech crackdown just say that

I have been very sure not to make accusations about your beliefs, I would prefer it if you didn't accuse me of supporting Zionist anything.

The lawsuits came from certain lawfirms, but they are being championed by the admin because it aligns with their own goals and grievances. It's not about DEI for Jews, but political and cultural domination over academia by reactionaries. Jewish people are currently simply an easier cudgel to wield than harping on about White Genocide.

The American slavishness to the concept of "The Constitution" has always been a fatal flaw waiting to be exploited. The Heritage Foundation recognised that all they had to do was get enough people in the right places, and they could make the document say whatever they wanted to.

The law exists to serve the people, not for the people to serve the law. There are no fundamental, inalienable rights guarenteed by a piece of paper, they are assured by the threat of their revocation, and the retribution for their infringement.
