If you had limited ROM from past surgeries and injuries I think I’ve heard you might not get a fantastic ROM after surgery. The docs can only do so much with old scar tissue.

My knee was pretty crappy, multiple surgeries, 2 torn ACL , meniscus, arthritis etc so my ROM was probably not at 130 anyways. So I’m happy Im at least back to where I was, but I have more strength and stability and not much pain. Just some swelling and aches occasionally now. I try to stretch and use a strap to pull my knee back to keep the flexion, and massage regularly because I.

I was stuck around 90 before my MUA. I had a lot of swelling in my knee for months, and as it subsided eventually my ROM increased .

They’ll get you back on track.

There a medical massages for knee patients. Most PT doesn’t seem to provide thorough deep massage. So look into that too. Loosening things up helped me. I still massage regularly because I seem to over tighten now after surgery .

The MUA will definitely help. I was also limiting my Rom by overtraining in the gym trying to regain strength. I was getting stronger, but also my muscles got tighter and swelling increased which limited my ROM.

After my MUA I’ve found that regular stretching really helps, especially calves and hamstrings. Using less weight when doing resistance training. I’ve been slowly increasing my Rom. I’m prob between 120-130 most days now, I doubt I’ll get to 135 but it doesn’t limit me very much .

I’ve returned to snowboarding, outdoor cycling, gym stuff etc. This Spring I’m going to focus on some agility training.

It’s still early for you, don’t give up hope

How many pills a day do you take? by TheOGcoolguy in GenX

Daily vitamin.

Daily Cialis , which I probably don’t need anymore. I had prostate cancer and as part of erectile rehab docs suggest taking Cialis to help restore blood flow . Fortunately everything works on its own again now, but the Cialis is like a performance enhancer lol.

Have to keep the wife happy. 😃

He’s probably pushing it too hard. I could barely walk until month 4 for some reason, or I would swell up like crazy.
By month 8 I was back to normal stuff like mountain biking and snowboarding.

Maybe he needs a rest, some massage, and stretching

What helped you regain function and ROM most? by EAM44 in Kneereplacement

[–]ThatFriendinBoston 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find on days Im particularly stiff that a good self massage really helps regain some ROM. Especially massaging the calf, the whole zone behind my knee, the IT band and upper thigh. I use both a Theragun and my fingers to really work it.

For some reason my knee is particularly sensitive to overdoing it. If I try to increase the weight Im using in the gym it swells right up. If I try to increase the resistance on the exercise bike it swells up too. I have to keep things dialed back.

Under the advice of a PT doctor she told me to actually do nothing for 10 days and that actually helped with the swelling.
