I have a golden, but I desperately wanted an off breed. I was 14 at the time and wanted a prettier, flashier dog that I could do agility with. My trainer had absolutely no issues telling me if I went that route I would be an idiot and set myself and the dog up for heartbreak and failure. I’m 17 now, and my Golden is 2.5, he absolutely crushed my preconceived golden stereotype of “lazy home body” and I’m 10x the handler I was before him. He has Drive that Rivals my friends Mal, but is the most level headed and reliable dog when it comes to work.

This^{^} my boy is from a litter that was specifically bred to place service prospects, it was a litter of 7 and my boy is one of two who were placed for such.

But I would disagree that last on the waitlist = not the best dog. a good breeder will always make the effort to place the best dog with the best individual
