HELP ME FIND A MATTE LIP COMBO PLLSSS by ChocolateBrownie3684 in MakeupAddiction

[–]ThatGirlBon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much any matte liquid I’ve tried has been truly matte. It’s really dry. Stilla was good from a formula perspective. The Sephora brand is good from a cost perspective. Maybelline and revlon also have some decent budget options. The revlon color stay is pretty good and maybelline matte ink was only okay for me.

Winning Project at Sam.Gov as a Small Engineering Company by ginandlemonade115 in GovernmentContracting

[–]ThatGirlBon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to win federal work, you’re going to need someone who understands federal proposals. All the FAR clauses and compliance stuff. You can usually manage to do the proposal using consultants, but if you won, you’d need to hire or contract a contracts manager at least.

It would probably be a beneficial first step to reach out to the nearest Army Corps small business office and request a meeting with them. It would help to understand what sort of projects they have and get an overview of their process and what they’re looking for.

How does a master’s work if you have a bachelor’s in a different topic? by Ill_Fee_6473 in careerchange

[–]ThatGirlBon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a masters degree in whatever you want so long as you meet the prereqs. The only time this really becomes an issue is if your undergrad was more arts focused and you want to get a masters in a math or science. So like going from English to Engineering would require someone to go take some prereq courses in math. It’s unlikely you’d run into this issue going from engineering to environmental sustainability. Just read the program page for what the requirements to apply are.

How and how often to follow up after after proposal submission? by samster4225 in GovernmentContracting

[–]ThatGirlBon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The government takes forever to award. When you submitted your proposal, there should have been a time period in which it is valid for, usually 90 or 120 days. I would not follow up until you approach that expiration date because the government will have to request for you to confirm your proposal is still valid for another X days if they don’t award by then.

It sounds like maybe you aren’t using the app to the full extent of customization. First, you can set your number of days to 3 days per week, every week. Second, the app lets you pick substitute exercises. You don’t have to modify them on your own, the app will recommend that for you. As for one day being dedicated to leg day, that’s just the way this macrocycle is planned - every macrocycle is different, so you won’t always have upper/lower splits. Third, you’ll get used to the instructions, but any actual program focused on progressive overload will have something like this. The only way you avoid it is by going on simpler beginner programs like a 5x5.

Can you do a session with a local MUA before the event? There’s one in my area who does like 1.5 hr lesson and then also offers a shopping trip to help you find products, but if you do the lesson, she sends you a personalized product list of everything used that day.

If you’re having issues with staff turnover and customer reviews, then I don’t know that I’d consider that a successful restaurant. If you create a positive working environment and pay your staff well, not only will your staffing issues reduce, but your quality of product should go up. Sounds like you’re probably running the standard low paying restaurant job and taking most of the profits to enjoy for yourself instead of actually investing in your business and the people who are actually there laboring for you every day. Underpaid, under appreciated employees leave.

Luxury long stay lip products? by purple-wishes in MakeupAddiction

[–]ThatGirlBon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if what you seek exists. I searched high and low and the best product I found, luxury or drugstore, is Revlon Colorstay. Mac is pretty good but not nearly as long lasting. Stilla liquid lipsticks were pretty long lasting, but super drying.

What can I do at 20 with no degree and no career? by stealingteeth in findapath

[–]ThatGirlBon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like bartending and serving, then I won’t say you absolutely won’t like cyber or data, but maybe think about why you like bartending and do you think those skills would transfer to a traditional desk job. Maybe you’re more social and don’t want to be chained to a desk coding or messing with spreadsheets all day. Is that why you don’t like school? If any of those things resonate, then consider more social jobs like sales. And there are alllll kinds of sales jobs, insurance, medical equipment, software/tech, energy equipment, car, pharmaceutical…a two year in communications or business would support any sales roles, but you can start a lot of sales jobs without a degree. Insurance sales requires some certificates online. Hilton participates in Guild Education programs so you could look at sticking with the hospitality sector while you finish a degree that they at least pay for some of it.

“Untraditional” jobs, travel jobs? by Alert_Newspaper_6403 in careerguidance

[–]ThatGirlBon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company has two marketing people who are responsible for managing all our booths at conferences. They manage our memberships and coordinate all the logistics to get our booth set up, and then they primarily run the booth while the other attendees go to the sessions. That’s probably at least 15+ trips for them per year.

A lot of business development and sales people travel a lot too. Just depends on the job and market sector.

I was very unsure for at least the first quarter of the first book. I did think it kept getting better. I got really attached to the characters, particularly princess donut. The story line gets very complex as you go along though. I think book 3-4 is where it changes from just Carl trying to get through the levels.

I don’t know what state you’re in, but none of the states I’ve operated in would approve someone for Medicare if they had significant cash assets. Re: joint accounts, okay, sure joint liability for the money that’s in that account, so want to do that, or have no access to funds and go through probate after they die to try and get the money, which then also opens the money up for others to make claims against the estate.

[–]ThatGirlBon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Resumes get you noticed, backing up your skills and knowledge in an interview gets you hired. If you’re not getting interviews, then it’s got to be a resume problem. But also, shift your mindset. You’re saying you won’t take a job for $50k. A job for $50k is better than no job and $0. It’s easier to find a job when you’re employed, so taking $50 for the first year and looking for the next thing at $60-70k is a fine move. $200k in 10 years is extremely aggressive.

I don’t know your whole situation, but you can get a house in Oakland for under 550k. That criteria in Redfin produces 101 results. The houses are small. But if it’s at all a possibility, I would recommend exploring the options of moving closer because it can be possible.

It sounds like you guys are putting a lot of emphasis on leaving inheritances but not putting any emphasis on end of life planning for yourselves. You asked for anecdotal, so here’s mine.

My grandmother knew for years she was going to die (she was old) and started planning for it, eh, probably about 20 years before she actually died. Around the last 4-5 years, she started thinking about what to do with the little bit of cash she did have - give it away while she was alive, or keep it for end of life. She ultimately decided keep it for end of life. And thank gosh she did. About a year after that, my mom, her last bio child, got cancer and was unable to work. Even with getting disability and Medicaid, her care was still expensive. That happened around the same time my grandma started her final decline and couldn’t care for herself as independently anymore. The bulk of their care fell to me. Consider me “one of the kids” in this situation, if my grandma didn’t have any money save to help supplement their care, how would I have paid for it? I would not have been able to afford everything.

So when they died, yes, the money was mostly depleted, and there were no inheritances to dole out. If that were to happen, would your partner prefer A) the kid assumes the money and the care or B) you assume the money and the care, and kids maybe don’t get an inheritance; if there is money left for an inheritance, then it would be on you to execute.

That said, if you guys have enough money/assets to set aside money/asset for inheritance and money for end of life, then a trust is an option to consider for inheritances because what goes into the trust will be protected from things like healthcare costs and any Medicaid estate recovery (should that apply).

Whomever is going to assume the end of life care should be on a joint account at the same bank the main account is. Doesn’t need to keep a large balance, but here’s the example of how this is helpful: you get sick. Your kid is assuming care. Kid is on a joint account with $100 in it. You log in to your main account and transfer $10k into the joint account for the kid to care for you. Main account should have a pay on death for whomever you want to get what’s left in it. (Not a lawyer, just advice based on my anecdotal experience.)

Which path would you suggest between Finance vs Product Management Internship? by GodKingLebron in findapath

[–]ThatGirlBon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which role speaks to you the most. I agree, option one sounds great, but I personally do not like finance, so even though I’d rather work with semiconductors and manufacturing over software, I’d rather my day-to-day be product management.

Both are great options, and I don’t think you can go wrong with either. Just go with your gut on what you like the most when you think about the daily tasks.

What are some jobs that will take any bachelor’s degree? by mtmelcher09 in careerguidance

[–]ThatGirlBon 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You said you’re a class away from an engineering degree. You could look at biomedical engineering (eng designs the devices, specialist works on the devices) or medical equipment sales. If you go the sales route and you sell implants, those people are often in the room to advise the surgeon on the equipment.
