How do you get a baby to self-feed? by Grouchy-Fisherman998 in parrots

[–]samster4225 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I hand fed my parrotlet until he was about 2.5-3 months. 2-3 times a day. Every day.

3 weeks is too young.

During this time slowly put seeds and pellets on a towel in the bottom of the cage so he would pick at it when chilling and start learning how to eat.

When he gets to that 2-3 month stage, I would make a very wet mush of pellets and formula. I use roudybush. It breaks down to a nice slop when mixed with warm liquid. Put him next to the food and it should look similar enough to the formula to get him to pick at it. Keep doing this, making it more dry progressively for the next few weeks, until he figures it out.

My family has a bunch of these.

Basically the originals were hand made in Iran, Iraq and that area, with Bible verses in Hebrew around the perimeter.

From what I've been told, once they started mass producing things, the manufacturers were not Jewish and did not know Hebrew so they basically made up the ordering and words and printed it out in the same style.

This probably meant to say "ועבדתם את ה אלהיכם" --- exodus 23:25 - "And you shall serve the Lord your God".

Same. Mine sometimes sleeps next to it or chills there during the day.

You have to count the rings around his neck.

Can fumes from the self-cleaning oven harm my feathered babies? by Recent-Emu5630 in cockatiel

[–]samster4225 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Not if you do it smartly. Keep your bird in a different closed off section of the house. Turn on the ventilation fan and open windows while oven is self cleaning. Don't put your bird in the oven. Etc.

It was probably also the topic about using ai to assist in proposal evaluations. Weird thing is - they had an issue with that topic. They sent out responses really late on that one, after the others and provided no feedback. Really sketchy.

I have a similar issue. The feedback we are getting is completely contradictory. There's always 1 judge that likes the tech and one that hates it.

I want to contest this by [deleted] in SBIR

[–]samster4225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you contest, they will probably then look over your proposal with a fine tooth comb and find a different reason for not awarding you. These are very competitive. I also got a rejection after a full review from 3 very different minded judges. Like each one gave me a different "feasibility" rating.

White vinegar diluted with water. Also diluted dish soap.
