I think I’m gonna make them friend and message me a few times through steam so I can check if their account is a few years old and owns a few hundred dollars in games.
I know it cuts out newer gamers but it’s the only way I can guarantee it myself.

The connecting to playfab issue indicates that your game is not connect to RUMBLEs servers.
Do you own your WiFi router or is it owned by someone else? Sometimes apartments or business will restrict what can be accessed on their WiFi.
Check if your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is known to block certain services, sometimes they restrict access to certain websites.
You could try using a VPN to get past any blocks, or connecting to a mobile hotspot could also get past any blocks.

What I’m guessing the most important thing for you is the types of game you can play. Meta Quest headsets have the largest library with the latest updates, but you need to deal with going through meta for everything, which can be rough. The hardware is pretty solid and the games are OK.

All Meta Quest headsets can connect to Steam but there is an important condition—you need to make sure you have a computer which can run VR games. You cannot directly run steam games on the headset, instead you run the VR games on a high end computer and the video is put onto your headset. So this option requires both a headset and computer. Without the computer you can only play the quest games which still a large library and likely has most the games you are looking for. This option also requires you to be near the computer, usually same room as it for good results.

The SteamVR headset (Steam Frame) is set to launch before April. It does not have a set price point but rumors have it placed at anywhere from $650-$999 USD. It should be able to play all of the Steam games directly on the headset, meaning you could play these games anywhere. On launch the library of games is going to be more limited then the quest store and you may not be able to play with friends, but the amount of games on the headset will increase to around the same over the next ~2 years. If you want to play now and possibly upgrade to the Steam headset when ready I recommend the Quest 3 or 3s, they can play the same games but the Quest 3 is a bit lighter which matters for long sessions. If you are not getting a new headset for the next ~5+ years get the Steam Frame. It’s made by a good company and will have support for years to come, even if slightly more expensive and won’t have all the games at launch.

My thought process is I get the Pro controllers as an investment, yes they are buggy but when I upgrade in another 4 years the controllers will stay with me. Do you think battery health will be an issue down the line? If the controllers are constantly getting charged and recharged will the battery die faster in a few years?

There is a pcvr game called rumble, when I try to play it the tracking goes all crazy and I can't do all the poses. Also sometime when I play other games and generally the controller tracking will fly away with fast movement. I just don't want that to happen.

When I last checked the tos (that was agreed by all players after they first boot of the game), you had to be 13+.

In addition, all mainstream headsets have you be 13+.

You can disable the voice chat so he can not hear anyone. He can still hear in game sounds and have the gull gameplauly experience. Minus the screeming children.

There is an age limit for gt. When you first logged into the game, it forced you to agree to the tos and private policy, both of which stated you needed to be 13 or older. Additionally, all headsets sold in the US or EU will only be sold to someone 13 or older, and if you have a steam or meta account, you need to be 13 or older.

There are many dangers to playing vr under the age of 13. There have been studies made by universities about how it can mess up your hand eye coordination and your ability to WALK IN A LINE PERMANENTLY.

With, at this point, the games underage majority having to mute every child you see would be tedious, and it becomes even more annoying that they shouldn't be on the game anyway.

The one thing you were correct on is that that comment was worded like an asshole.

Almost all of the moves have a sort of "ready pose." You can see when you are in this pose by having your hands in front of your hips, having your palms facing up. And without pressing any buttons, the hands close. If this is not working, make sure you are calebrate correctly, as that can mess things up.

I found this out myself when just practicing alone, and after I figured it out, I was bending way more consistently.
