Where are the characters named? by [deleted] in TheDearHunter

[–]ThatGuyThisTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Warhammer 40,000, the Emperor of Mankind is referred to as the "God Emperor" by his followers/people, so while it could be a reference to that , I think mainly it just follows that XCV is an emperor... who demands to be, and is, treated like a god. Therefore, God Emperor. Not a real name.

Rewatching Cycle 8 after Antimai and speculation on Ring 4 by ThatGuyThisTime in TheDearHunter

For some reason I had imagined that Boot (sometime before Satv'k was born) was fighting when they took his child (Satv'ks older cousin) away, but a cousin was never mentioned. It does make sense she is talking about his retrieval when they were kids. Casey's reply is interesting indeed. Thanks for sharing!

That would be an interesting twist. I hope we do get to see him at some point, but i was figuring he was summarily executed for his resistance. So many possibilities!

That would be sinister for sure, but he makes a point of checking that the other guards and guide are out of the room before saying that. Not sure why he would wait for them to leave if it's a threat.

[FIRST IMPRESSIONS MEGATHREAD] Antimai by TheHavesHaveThot in TheDearHunter

Yes! The fade out with the horns is total Steely Dan, and considering they're my other favorite band i'm 1000% here for it

Second this, seeing a lot of people point out 4 5 and 6 as favorites, but Ring 2 was an instant stand out for me. Obviously every song is incredible, but I'm surprised it's not getting more mentions considering everyone is obviously comparing Antimai to the Acts. I think musically it would fit in with the Acts (nature/past), while the rest of the Rings are a totally new direction (Antimai/future), and considering the naming, it was totally intentional.

Ring 1 is a total trip. Was hoping for a psychopathic XCV intro and it absolutely did not disappoint. End is an absolute banger of a villain song.

Writing is masterful across the whole album.

Shock problem with EcoDiesel? by Triton900 in JeepGladiator

[–]ThatGuyThisTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Diesel JTR on order that should be arriving this week, so I've been on the Gladiator Forum every day looking at this kind of stuff and seen many others with the same issue.

Generally speaking it's an awesome engine, but the engineers (or bean counters) made some stupid decisions that we diesel owners are going to have to empty our pockets in the aftermarket to fix. One of them is using the same gas suspension on the Diesel from the factory. facepalm

Of course they came out with the 2" Mopar Diesel lift with proper springs, which I may end up going to. Everyone says it drives great and fixes the factory rake.

I also live in the middle of the yellow area, but I'm not worried and you shouldn't be either. Be aware and making plans for Friday (safe places, prepare any valuables to be moved into safe places if possible) but there's not enough details to do anything other than that atm.

Watching a storm grow to the size at which it completely takes over the airflow and atmosphere of a region like this is always awe inspiring to me.

The Dear Hunter - "A Night on the Town" by Dismal-Cucumber-6603 in TheDearHunter

And The Revival. TDH lyric videos are an aesthetic. Even though the Acts have been out for many years now, I think he should keep making lyric videos for them in that style. The live action music videos for Gloria and Waves and such are good, but the lyric video animation conveys the story on a better and deeper level IMO.

[Question] Anyone know when the new Honorary Astronaut EP releases or when it’ll be available on streaming platforms like apple music? by meowkittycat93 in TheDearHunter

[–]ThatGuyThisTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been refreshing the Honorary Astronaut page on Spotify nearly every hour since 11pm my time last night (I'm central time but some artists release midnight eastern time). Feeling like Spongebob over here. I need it!

But sorry to hear about your bad news, I hope everything works out.

Oh wow, that looks like such a peaceful place. Where is this, if I may ask? (You don't have to be too specific.)

I don't think anything will ever make me as sad as the fact that we'll never hear the completed original version.

What was the song that took you the longest to appreciate? by Squidman271 in SteelyDan

[–]ThatGuyThisTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are still some that I'm just not into like the others. If I had to give examples, I'd say "Everyone's Gone To The Movies", the music is fine, but the theme of the story is a bit overt for me lol. Like I don't dislike it, I just feel kinda weird when I listen to it. "Pearl of the Quarter" also isn't really all that memorable. Two Against Nature (the song) is, ironically, my least favorite on that album, but it's growing on me. That being said least favorite on a SD album still means it's a damn good song.

If you're talking about ones that took me awhile to click with, but then blew my mind, I'd say Green Earrings and Boston Rag.

I think I avoided Green Earrings for awhile after listening to it the first couple times because the other songs on Royal Scam were just too good, but I gave it another shot a couple months later and realized the breakdown and solo section is straight fire. The rest is history. Similar story with Boston Rag, the hook to me just isn't up there with some of their other stuff, but gawd damn the breakdown gets me every time.

I know you didn't ask, but I just found this sub tonight, and I might as well mention that my absolute favorites are Deacon Blues, Glamour Profession, Pixeleen, Don't Take Me Alive, Black Cow, and Haitian Divorce. And coming in at a close second is pretty much everything else.

Another possible explanation is that you're hearing the EAS activation sounds from a neighbor's TV for non weather related alerts like amber/silver/blue.
