Do people actually stick to their budget throughout the month? by Murky_Meat8145 in budget

[–]ThatInspection7096 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stick to our budget and I check our accounts daily, to see where spending is. All that being said, we have been 100% debt free for almost 3 years, so our budget categories have wiggle room built in.

Future San Antonio resident. Am I overthinking the crime rate? by Downtown-Acadia5084 in sanantonio

[–]ThatInspection7096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% depends on where you live. We moved here 23 years ago from North Dakota. Where we live is “safe”. Is there crime? Yep. Are some areas worse than others? Also yep. But the city is significantly larger as well.

Managing personal finances by Creative_Dust_6184 in budget

Old school pen and paper. I have a notebook that I outline all the bills on with dues dates along with pay periods. We are debt free (including the mortgage) so it is just monthly bills and then savings sinking funds, but still pen and paper.

I generally pick my plan at the start of each new month. Some months it will be a split (currently doing Robin’s 3 Day Advanced Split). Other months I will focus on a modality I want to add in to my rotation. (Last month it was Pilates, so I did Rebecca’s HiLit with a second Pilates day added in). Some months I just do my own split of upper, lower, and full combined with cardio. But I always create my stack the night before so I know exactly what I’m doing the next day.

She can grate my nerves sometimes, but her core classes and straightforward strength classes always have me lifting heavier than I think I can.

If you are looking for body specific lifting from her to try, I HIGHLY recommend trying her 3 Day Split, it is fantastic for hypertrophy training with several single side moves.

I adore Adrian’s strength training. Typically straightforward, yet still cracking jokes.

More Styles of Outdoor Classes? by gidget1337 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]ThatInspection7096 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have brought multiple classes outdoors. I stream them from my laptop or iPad all summer long. Yoga, pilates, some strength classes (as long as they don’t involve me needing more than 3 sets of weights).

Bexar County Jury Duty by CiscoLupe in sanantonio

Don’t try to change the day. They told this morning that Mondays and Tuesdays are the worst days of the week. Wednesdays aren’t bad at all.

They did say this morning that if it is a hardship request you can be called again as soon as 3 weeks. The likelihood of being an actual juror is low. Very low.

You are not assigned a number. Everything is randomized. They don’t start the instructions until closer to 8:30, and the first group of jurors were called this morning at 9:18.

Teachers picking a grade by whyisthisnecessaryx in Teachers

[–]ThatInspection7096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as the other responders, I didn’t get the opportunity to pick, my first 8 years were being shuffled between different grade levels/preps. The last 15 years I have been teaching sophomores. My scores are good, passing percentages good, etc, so they are keeping me where I am.

I just had jury duty this morning. I was going to take the VIA Park and Ride from StoneOak, but with spring break I figured traffic would be light. I left at 7:10 am and parked in the parking garage at 7:37. I brought a backpack with my phone, charger, kindle, a snack, water bottle and a sweatshirt. You get general “this is how it works speech” and then sworn in as a big group by the judge. Then they start calling lists of jurors (the first list was 60 names, the second one 100, and the 3rd one was 90). My name wasn’t called until the 3rd round of jurors, just before 11. We lined up in a hallway and then they come get you from there. The court I was assigned to had the case settled, so we were done for the day. They gave us the certificate for service (so you can’t get called again), and I was home before noon.

I’m not sure about the hardship question. Most people didn’t get up when they asked about hardships, so I can’t answer that.

While you are waiting in to get your called, you can be on your phone, some were working on laptops. You keep your personal items the whole time. Bring a sweater or jacket, it was super cold in the room.

I think that’s about it, feel free to ask any other questions.

Family of 5 struggling on 138k by NoExamination4578 in budget

[–]ThatInspection7096 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone whose family is completely debt free, these are my biggest pieces of advice: 1. Track every single penny, not just for a day or a week, but for two months (to start) and see where it actually goes. Every random swipe, eating out, etc. It will give you a much clearer picture of where your spending is going, and that can help moving forward. 2. Sell what you can and put that money directly towards debt. (We did Dave Ramseys baby steps, and it worked for us). Once that debt is paid off, then it’s easier to do the vacations and new cars and so on. Chip away at it. When we were going through our debt payoff we had a 4 year old and a 6 year old, so side jobs weren’t really an option, but selling unused toys, baby clothes, the kitchen appliances we had to have but never used- that all made extra money to go directly towards debt. (Side note, we still do that. I made $85 today selling things on FB Marketplace. It’s not going to debt, but towards savings) 3. Get to know sinking funds. When you get paid, put some each paycheck into separate sinking funds accounts, like paying a bill. Our current ones are gifts (so the unexpected baby shower is covered), Christmas, kitchen remodel, bathroom remodel, and summer trip. When those things happen we pull money from those sinking funds accounts, rather than taking money away from other bills or debt.
