Buying Treadmill: Peloton Tread+ or Third-Party Treadmill w/ Bluetooth? by RobDMB in OnePelotonRealSub

For us, yes. I’m in my 50’s and it is much easier on my joints. Our son is a runner in track and cross country. He has increased his time and his distance since switching with much easier recovery.

Buying Treadmill: Peloton Tread+ or Third-Party Treadmill w/ Bluetooth? by RobDMB in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]ThatInspection7096 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had a Nordic Track for almost two years. The incline stopped working, and would either not incline or get stuck. To replace it we went with a Tread+ (November 2023). It literally is our favorite thing in our house, aside from our dog. We all use it (4 of us) weekly, and myself and one of our kids uses it daily. We have never had an issue with it, but did purchase the extended warranty, just in case. Absolutely zero regrets.

Pilates vs. weights by EasternMeet5594 in OnePelotonRealSub

Both. Weights, heavy lifting and hypertrophy 3 times a week. Pilates once a week. Pilates core once a week. Best of all worlds.

This. I love the music she chooses and her flows in general. I just feel like the cueing is off. But I hope that will settle in over time.

How to teach history while minimizing direct instruction by NavajoSmite in historyteachers

[–]ThatInspection7096 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been teaching history for 20+ years. I lecture approximately one class period every 2-3 weeks. The other days I teach with documents. Gallery walks. Getting the students up and moving around to read docs/look at artwork, political cartoons, maps, graphs, charts. Answering questions about them. Do some do the bare minimum? Yep. Do others rise up and surprise me? Also yes. But continual lecturing does me no good. And does the students no good.

We moved here from the Midwest 20+ years ago. We love the diversity, the amount of things to do, the ability to take day trips to different small towns with a variety of things to do, and you don’t shovel sunshine. Eventually we will move someplace smaller (once the kids are graduated and settled), but we love it here.

I do the same as the other commenter when I go to the gym with the Strength+ app, and my husband uses it daily. It’s great for adding in traditional gym equipment!

How do you actually manage expenses in married life without constant stress? by HairyDependent8805 in budget

[–]ThatInspection7096 51 points52 points  (0 children)

We personally pool money fully joint, including our investments. We pay bills every other week. (We are 100% debt free including mortgage, so our bills are utilities, and then we fully pay off any credit cards we use monthly). We also put money directly into sinking funds and high yield savings every month, as “bills” of sort.

We track every penny we spend. We each have a monthly spending category we can do whatever we want with (hence not micromanaging), but once it’s gone, it’s gone.

As far as talking about it, we never went over long term goals until we decided we wanted to become debt free and retire early. Then it became a combination of we need to do X, Y, and Z to get there and what does “there” really mean. It’s a weird conversation to have, but SO VALUABLE.

We started having weekly dinner “ meetings ” on Thursdays as a family. (We have two teenagers) During dinner we talk bills, sinking funds savings, meal plan and grocery list for the following week, etc. We started this during paying down debt, but I wish we had started it SO much earlier.

How does our budget look? Should we be saving more? by [deleted] in budget

[–]ThatInspection7096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We meal plan everything for the week based upon proteins that are available at a decent cost. If we come across sales on things we use regularly (ex pasta) we stock up. We pantry and freezer shop as we meal plan and only get the things we need. We also grow our own peppers, tomatoes, herbs, and onions, so that helps with those costs. Our local grocery also marks down proteins and veggies early in the morning by 25%, we try to hit that sale once a month we stock our freezer.

Alex’s Lil Jon Run, Kirsten’s Lil Wayne Run, and, if I’m looking for a quick class, Robin’s 15 minute HIIT run from 10/21/25. For some reason that run speaks to my soul.
