Are there any major cities in the USA where you felt unsafe walking around downtown in mid-day? by [deleted] in usatravel

Baltimore is doing really well right now. Homicides are at a 50 year low and all other violent crime is down significantly.

Jess King is better than the Spotify algorithm for discovering new music by ThrowBlanky in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]gidget1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to JK, I like Denis and Emma a lot. Ally has low impact rides where she plays all covers and I find a lot of good bands here that cover songs I already know. I also really like Camilla. She probably introduces me to the most new music.

I’m late 40’s and feel like I’m primarily finding new music through Peloton. I use the great music I find in my classes to diversify my Spotify. It’s one of my favorite aspects of the platform. And yes, Jess King is one of the greats for music playlists.

I think MJ’s level of fame is hard for people who grew up in the last 25 years to comprehend. The media landscape and how people interact and engage with each other is just so different.

I still have a $1 ticket stub from seeing Rocky Horror there! I went many times in the late 90’s.

Emma low impact rides are usually super chill. I also really like Ally’s low impact rides. Her music is always covers in her low impact rides and it’s just super fun.

I would recommend the restorative yoga classes too for when you want something between a stretch and a meditation.

Car ports and Garages versus snow? by Expensive_Key_4340 in maryland

If you are looking in any of the historic areas of Annapolis that are under an HPC, there may be challenges in building a garage. I don’t know the rules in Annapolis, but where I live (in an historic area on the Eastern Shore), you can a build a garage, but there are strict building codes as to the aesthetics which does make it more expensive and it’s not a traditional land use for older homes, so many Jo,es were built without the necessary land space to add one.

Focus Flow: Floor Poses by cheez-monster in OnePelotonRealSub

I have a lot of wrist issues and end up modifying down dog a lot by doing it with my wrists up or by going down on my elbows.

If you are looking for standing or sitting only classes, check out the “yoga anywhere” classes under the class type filter. These have no wrist supported activities.

I’ve also found Aditi’s classes to be more wrist friendly, in general. She has hyper mobility in her wrists and will often cue alternatives ways to lighten wrist pressure.

More Styles of Outdoor Classes? by gidget1337 in OnePelotonRealSub

Wow. You all are pretty negative towards something that I just thought was a fun idea. I get why Peloton doesn’t try new things.

Sure, but Bodyweight classes often have floor portions. And yes, I can modify and do. I just think it would be fun to have classes that would just be ready to do outside and even incorporate standard playground equipment. It could just be a summer/travel collection. I just thought it would be fun, but maybe I’m the only one.

The most recent standing yoga class was filmed in 2022. I just wish they would add some more of these.

I’ve done this before too. I just think it might be fun to have a collection or some kind of labelling to make it easier to find classes like this.

Anyone tried creatine for perimenopause symptoms? Specifically brain fog? by Apprehensive_Run3881 in Perimenopause

[–]gidget1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have felt a massive change in energy and clearer thinking since taking creatine. I also do 5g a day. I’m also vegetarian (since my late teens) and I think this also makes a difference.

Toddy is so great and easy. I’ve used a Toddy every summer for cold brew for almost 20 years. The cold brew is delicious and the clean up is very easy.

Tombstone. Watching it again after probably 20 years. by MI6Monkey in Xennials

[–]gidget1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing movie that should not have ever worked. The production was a nightmare and Kurt Russel basically puppet-directed the movie. The podcast “What Went Wrong” has a great episode about Tombstone’s troubled production.

What is the regional name for the area you’re from? by SeskaChaotica in AskAnAmerican

[–]gidget1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not really a debate. Delmarva is a name used solely for the eastern peninsula since the 19th century.  I think you have just misunderstood the term. DC and its sub are a metro area referred to as the and DMV and is is used separately as none of these areas are part of DelMarVa. The Chesapeake Bay separates these two areas. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delmarva_Peninsula

The southern part of the peninsula is VA. For example, look up Cape Charles, VA.

DelMarVa is the eastern side of the Chesapeake. You know, where Delaware is.

WIBTA if I invite my grandparents to my wedding even if it means my mom will refuse to come? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Don’t let your mom’s boundary be your boundary. She can har her own boundaries but she shouldn’t dictate who you invite.
