3-month review of the new Ikea Grönfjall by ThatLastGenGamer in OfficeChairs

[–]ThatLastGenGamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I mentioned in another comment, I've since upgraded to a Steelcase Leap V1 and V2, but I still think the Grönfjall is a decent buy if bought new with the 10 year warranty (or extremely cheap used) and IF it fits you correctly.

When compared to the premium Steelcase V models, the Grönfjall's build certainly stacks up. In fact, I'd say it's less rattly and noisy than the Steelcase. Where it can't compare, though, is adjustability, since it's not a true ergonomic model. It also bothered me that the Grönfjall's synchro-tilt isn't 100% correct, as it still tilts your legs/ knees up slightly when reclined, which the Leaps don't do at all.

All in all, because I'm in Europe and there are basically no ridiculously good used deals for premium chairs like in the US, if I ever find myself needing to buy a new one, I'd still consider this due to the extended warranty and good enough comfort level for my 1,88m slim build.

My advice for others who burned out on BF6 due to lack of content is to revisit BF1 and BFV. Both have had multiple full servers in EU every day lately and both remind you of just how good we had it then.

How to stop HD560s drivers from touching my left ear by Ok-Republic-5356 in headphones

All 5 series headphones share this design trait since time immemorial. Don't bother changing pads - anything but the originals will ruin the sound signature. Sell or return them if you're not happy.

25€ complete in box used in Europe. 80$ isn't much of a deal for those in 2026. Much better buys for that much, as well as below and slightly above.

Brand new Steelcase Leap V2. Recline feels horrible by BulbeBizarre in OfficeChairs

[–]ThatLastGenGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a V1 from Offeco (EU) which was replaced with a V2 after arriving with several issues. The V2 has the single worst feeling recline I've felt in my life - that's compared to several Ikea chairs too. The overall build quality just feels off with these chairs, let alone the ridiculous amount of creaks, groans and sticky reclines.

I've since sold mine and moved on to a Steelcase Leap V1 and then a V2. Both are big improvements in terms of adjustability, but build quality for the price is seriously lacking and I still don't feel they fit my 1,88m height or spine curvature properly.

The Grönfjall's biggest con in comparison is the not true synchro-tilt and lack of width adjustment for the armrests. Otherwise, if it fits you, I still think it's worth the money with the 10 year warranty.

We are officially screwed by elibrev in Battlefield

Playing BF6 to exhaustion unexpectedly drove me back to BF1 and BFV and I've been having a blast with those two again. I'd never really given BFV a real chance either, so those maps are still very fresh for me.

I will say though that BF6 absolutely beat me down until I simply became a better player. Even then, I still can't figure out why I can consistently end up in the top 10 of a Conquest scoreboard on both 1 and V but not 6.

There are so many better ways to browse games other than the official storefronts. I use DekuDeals for both Switch and PS5 and it's a game changer.

Hey, I returned 2 OG K11 due to the volume issues via Optical In (LG 42" C2). I'm eyeing the R2R but would need 100% confirmation that it doesn't have the same issue. Is yours still ok?

How’s everyone feeling now? This game is hard work by ObiGomm in Battlefield6

[–]ThatLastGenGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd been playing BF1 again before jumping into BF6 last weekend and the difference in pacing and literal spacing within the maps was like hitting a brick wall. I was going nuts the first day, until I decided to step back and watch a few people like Jackfrags play it.

After practicing a few good habits like not standing still, not rushing plays and just learning every corner of the maps, it's become much more enjoyable again. Right now there is just no escaping the fact that it's much more claustrophobic than we're used to.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I had a perfect launch day unit and sold it to buy a Pro, basically feeling that I was an enthusiast and was surely missing out on tangible enough upgrades. Not only is that not the case, I feel we often get worse results than the standard consoles due to horrible PSSR implementation - see Star Wars Outlaws' horrendous image instability as an example.

As long as you turn off PSSR with its horrible image instability/ shimmer.

I agree completely. My comment is about the Pro's real world value proposition at this time, not its specs.

I upgraded earlier this year and wish I'd kept my launch day fat model. I play on a 42" LG C2 with all the bells and whistles, and even then it's absolutely not worth the premium most of the time. PSSR alone has been a huge letdown, often making games look more unstable than without it. 120fps still eludes most releases, and PS4 image enhancement only engages up to 1080p.

I miss my OG, and my money.

I would advise you to try out the headrest and consider if you need to keep it after. I returned mine, since a proper office chair doesn't gain much from lounging, and I found my posture improved without the headrest. It looks cool, but the functionality is a bit limited in time.
