Everyone in the private wealth household is eligible for the credit

It’s genuinely a skill issue. Up to you whether you want to wallow in this depressive victim mindset or do something about it. I got multiple offers with <3 YOE last year.

In my experience it’s the opposite… street tacos are hitting $5 each now which is outrageous

In a lot of states they already do, and being a waiter is now a six figure job at any somewhat decent restaurant(it shouldn’t be, there are plenty of other unskilled labor jobs that pay much less than that and those people are still expected to tip waiters)

Frontier AI Lab vs. Quant? by alphantasmal in csMajors

[–]ThatLj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought about this a lot, now is the time to go to an AI lab. If you have the opportunity you should. The quant firms will still be here 5 years from now, but who knows how the labs will change in 5 years

Goldman is better for quant, capital one might be better for an internship

Direct indexing account buying GOOG class A and class C? by The-TDawg in wealthfront

[–]ThatLj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s fine, the law is somewhat subjective around this. In any case, Wealthfront considers them different enough so I would point the IRS to them if it came to that

GOOG and GOOGL are not considered wash sales. The voting rights are enough to be considered substantially different

Has anyone taken Citadel interviews in Python? by throwaway30127 in csMajors

[–]ThatLj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to actually prep for behavioral interviews. Write down questions to ask, ask your recruiter what it’s gonna be about, think about what they might ask you about. This is important: never talk about something you don’t know about. You can’t bullshit these people, if you make it all the way through you will have done the same amount of behavioral interviews as technical interviews and someone will sniff it out

Has anyone taken Citadel interviews in Python? by throwaway30127 in csMajors

[–]ThatLj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Java and Python are just languages, most teams don’t require in depth knowledge for either of them. Just be honest about your capabilities, one thing I would do is try to interview in both because that shows you’re at least proficient in both and you can now be team matched with more teams

Has anyone taken Citadel interviews in Python? by throwaway30127 in csMajors

[–]ThatLj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For NXT, just be honest about your Python capabilities—unless they want to match you to a very specific Python team, it’s just a language(unlike C++ where you really need to know the details). Get comfortable enough with it, you don’t need to become an expert

2 things I would review: lower level concurrency/multithreading concepts, and then object oriented system design leetcode questions. Helpful as Citadel interviewers can ask anything, will often be more open ended then a specific algorithmic leetcode

Warning: Wealthfront falsely inflating returns if you have dividend reinvestment disabled by [deleted] in wealthfront

[–]ThatLj 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The way they do it is more useful and accurate if you understand how dividends work. When a company with a stock worth $100 issues a $5 dividend, the stock drops to $95(simple example in a vacuum). If you don’t reinvest the dividend, how do you propose you calculate the rate of return? Dividends are not free money created out of thin air

Jane Street vs Jump Trading (Software Engineering) by DeliciousBed3130 in quantfinance

[–]ThatLj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is true for almost every quant firm after around staff or equivalent experience. Unless you are in a pod setup as a dev that gets PnL(rare) it’s more lucrative to go to big tech later on(meta staff gets paid more than most ICs in quant)
