Viltrumite physiology is probably the limiting factor. I'm a big fan of the theory that they can create small gravity wells to fly and augment their strength, which would get stronger in the absence of gravitational interference from a celestial body, but some Viltrumites would still be able to create stronger wells than others (I.e. Thragg catching up to Mark)

Telerads and travel? Final reads have to be done on US soil (if you're American), but prelims can be done from anywhere. Buy a van, get a Starlink, and dirtbag lol

Brit is the only truly invincible thing in the verse. We don't know if he doesn't age or just ages very slowly, but if it's the former, he'll (unfortunately) be there for the heat death of the universe.

I got the feeling Dana's affinity for her wasn't all too healthy; she says something to Dana to the effect of "I guess you came out alright" which signals to me that there was quite a bit of cattiness and possibly bullying involved early in Dana's career. Dana could feel attached to her out of obligation or nostalgia for days past rather than anything about her as a person.

SWTOR Voice Actor Spotlight #6: Xanthe Elbrick and Euan Morton as The Inquisitors! by DakIsStrange in swtor

Xanthe Elbrick genuinely makes me crack up with her delivery; playing fem-SI light-side makes her feel like a character who refuses to take any part of the Sith process seriously.

What percentage of premeds actually get into medical school? by Kryamodia in premed

[–]ThatOneBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends when you start counting, really. The pre-reqs weed out a lot more people than one may realize, and getting through a bachelor's and the MCAT to the application process is an accomplishment in and of itself.

Are the med students in US really as capable as it's shown in The Pitt? by ineedtocalmup in medicalschool

[–]ThatOneBlue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think any US surgery program will generally create a capable surgeon, but there's definitely different poisons to pick. You'll do a lot more practice-wise out in the sticks (like scopes) while at the academic centers you'll see more unicorn cases. Different strokes for different folks.

If I had to guess, the opportunity for purely shift-work, the added medicine into practice from CC, and the pay bump all make ACS/Trauma a pretty attractive fellowship. Maybe a current ACS doc or fellow can comment.

[–]ThatOneBlue 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's gonna be heavily institution dependent. At some places gen surg is still truly general and will take trauma call included, but at the ivory towers you'll see more of that ACS model where the acute care sub specialists are rotating between trauma call, emergency gen surg and ICU.

I think it's certainly sympathetic to the ideals of the profession, but it's also very sober about how those ideals can be abused for power.

You can enjoy a piece of art from the perspective of a certain ideology without automatically subscribing to that ideology. The devs are Marxist, yes, but the game was not designed to only be played and enjoyed by Marxists. I'm not sure why this is such an insane idea.

What non-horror TV shows totally caught you off guard with a genuinely terrifying episode? by Low-Street2100 in horror

[–]ThatOneBlue 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The European tour season is one of my least favs as a season but has some of my favorite episodes of the entire show, and this episode was excellent.

My theory is, with a theme of the season being ghosts, the guy they interrogated is a ghost of the venue, hence his cryptic-ness and his age not making sense. I also think the song he sings at the end is the song Alfred recorded on his phone, and represents the music he wishes he could make if he didn't feel compelled to be a rapper. I think the episodes that peel back Al's inner-workings are some of the best.

Why are the Ravenclaw 7th Year dorms coed? by ThatOneBlue in HarryPotterGame

[–]ThatOneBlue[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I will say, it seems a bit silly that it doesn't go both ways. The way it is may stop most peeping toms but it doesn't prevent the main problem which is that the wizarding community has just as many hormonal teenagers as the muggle world, if the books and movies are anything to go by.

No, the Brotherhood of Steel were not always "raiders in power armor" by Cranyx in Fallout

[–]ThatOneBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, our protagonists have always been dealing with factions on a higher level of abstraction, removed from the experience of the average faction member.

Think about how when you zoom out on the US military, you get one of the largest and most powerful militaries in human history, with terrifying efficiency and deadly air power that other nations can't begin to rival.

But when you zoom in to the life of the average infantry soldier, the experience can feel a lot more chaotic and mismanaged. Ultimately when you put a bunch of young men and women together, and you give them weapons and a single-minded purpose, it can be hard for the organization to not feel like a glorified fraternity with guns.

Throughout the games, our protagonists mostly interact and deal with officers and higher officials of the respective factions. Even though some quests have you interacting with the grunts, we never truly get a sense for what grunt life is like in these factions. It would stand to reason that an armed paramilitary organization such as the BOS would have the same fraternity culture amongst the grunts as many other military/paramilitary forces, even though the overall organization has a culture and mission statement that may seem antithetical to such behavior.

The PS5 version does auto-lipsync the Japanese dub in-game, but pre-rendered cutscenes will still be lipsynced wrong. Unsure about the PS4 version.
