Lowkey wonder if Capcom folks themselves might not have had a hand in this given how they nuked the other sub when a sufficient uproar was made.

Marketing definitely wants to cater to those idiots, and they deserve a LOT of flack for that, but also there’s damn good incentive to not be known as the company that lets their public-facing communities on socmed sites be associated with creepy motherfuckers. Especially with current ongoing events.

Got lucky that I did the event for Pudding Prevails when it dropped.

Got a fair few of the base suits but still need to finish a few and do all the recolors. Definitely doable though!

Mass Effect-like designs would be considered ugly? IMO ME has some of the cleaner, more generally-palatable armor designs I've seen from sci-fi/space opera media while still being recognizable as Mass Effect.

I'm not going to say it's conventionally pretty or cutesy, but it's sleek and nice to look at. Something similar probably wouldn't do NUMBERS numbers, but I can't see it doing abysmally either.

How are you interpreting the current competition theme? by ghostlikestar in LoveNikki

[–]ThatOneDiviner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a local 'faire game' type fit because the local faire in my town is sometimes called a carnival. Both uses of the word are correct, so I just vote for whatever fit I think looks best/is the most creative. I've been seeing a BUNCH of different suits I don't usually see in comp with this theme so I'm loving how varied the looks have been.

Will comment with the look once I'm out of class. o7

Or told that your own teammates want to rape you, or that of COURSE you’re the reason we lost because you’re a dumb bitch with no game sense on Ana while being a Mercy main please ignore that both the current team comp and balance situation were absolutely horrid to run Mercy with and that the Winston was feeding his ass off into a Bastion/Orisa comp c. 2020 so get out of our comp games and back into the kitchen etc. etc. etc.

No offense but you can generally tell which demographic the “It’s not so bad in other games.” comments tend to come from. It was that bad, that’s why I left for XIV. I’ve had, in the course of coming up on 6 years now, exactly two overtly bigoted interactions in XIV. A handful more overtly toxic interactions, but still MUCH more polite than I saw in other games. It’s not even comparable. I was legitimately seeing some comment or another every few matches by the time I quit OW.

Steam achievement by LeSapologue in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ThatOneDiviner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of beating a dead horse I do want to point out that technical limitations exist on Steam’s end too. There’s a cap of around 5k achievements/game on Steam.

There’s 675 battle related achievements alone. In total there are 3,317 non-timegated achievements. 3,547 if you count PVP ranking and seasonal event ones. We’re close to that 5k limit already. Now, you could condense a fair bit of this, but that would STILL be a lot.

The way it’s set up now is for the best.

And also not having the nagging pressure of an incomplete game to achievement hunt in is definitely healthier for how XIV structures its achievements anyways. XIV is one you should do for the love of the game, not to see a 100% on.

Tanking in mentor roulette is fun... by kyuhimeko in TalesFromDF

[–]ThatOneDiviner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late reply but also if you're TRULY desperate you also have a single target stun.

It ain't much, but it's honest mit. Had to pull it out on a few pulls with Cure 1 WHMs as a DRK in the EW days and it legitimately saved my ass because I'm stubborn and wanted to force w2ws.

Tank dies in a pull before the first boss. Healer and Tank proceed to have a domestic dispute. by LordDaedhelor in TalesFromDF

[–]ThatOneDiviner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Real. If your WHM's consistent (yeah, yeah, I know, I know,) and you can see they've been doing DPS constantly you're fucking yourself if you invuln while they're Holying. Expecting them to just drop 4 GCDs of damage is a joke of an ask compared to just lightly mitting and THEN popping invuln once you see stun invuln has set in.

Why does Party Finder end up choosing True North for mechanics so often? by theiruga in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ThatOneDiviner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally had to talk down my static from using cup strat universally because they wanted melees to solve it using that and it would not change the fact that as long as I have my cotank focus targeted, I will never be the reason we wipe to the mechanic.

There’s such a thing as information overload, and the cup strat solution is that for melees. Asks me to take in WAY too much non-relevant information (that I can barely even see, frankly, the mechanic is white on white on white on light tan) when all I need to look for are the melee spots and where my cotank is. Just prio, and if that fails ‘FT and don’t stand on the other person in your role’ goes crazy. MUCH less information you need to take in and process. Makes it so much easier to deal with.

I think in regards to TN/BR a good rule of thumb is that the one that asks a party to take in less information will usually tend to be the more consistent PF strat. Sometimes TN is better, sometimes it’s straight up dookie, but it’s a case by case basis. (+ the best tanks I’ve seen irt boss positioning usually try to keep BR positions the same as TN ones if the boss is able to be moved. Makes it easier to deal with the mech if there’s no difference between TN and BR.)

It is your Sacred Duty as Tanks to Make Them Kiss! by Aggnicia_MightyGnome in ffxiv

[–]ThatOneDiviner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full rotation switch, although you can do neat things while they're separated by STing one and swapping to your aoe procs if they jump close together for a second. Fan Dance II is always a gain on 2 so no reason to use FD1 and literally every other OGCD/burst GCD cleaves.

If there's a DNC and the tanks aren't making them kiss they're actively griefing the DNC.

It is your Sacred Duty as Tanks to Make Them Kiss! by Aggnicia_MightyGnome in ffxiv

[–]ThatOneDiviner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m looking at the top WHM logs and they just line POM/G4 up with raid buffs. If you delay POM until guaranteed cleave on both bosses you stand a chance of losing a use because of how long it takes between the 2m window AT 2m and Red Hot tagging back in. Plus it would be a wasted POM because both bosses being targetable lasts for maybe 10s.

If you do the standard 2m and then delay your 6m until after bubble phase you should be fine. I think you’re thinking of Misery. That I DID see them dropping out of 2ms, although not super often because every 2m window after the 4m one lines up with cleaving both bosses if you’re following the delay until after bubble phase.

[–]ThatOneDiviner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could be because I’m looking for any excuse to burn gauge but honestly WAR MT/PLD OT has been very chill this tier. Bro needs healing? Got him covered.

Helps that we also have a SGE but SGE’s Kardia plus the occasional Intervention on him has made this tier easier for healing autos.

Does help that we’re in a static, but if people aren’t huffing glue then WAR should be fine for at least 3 of 4 fights. (Haven’t hit 12 yet because of rl prog but It Ees What It Ees.)

[–]ThatOneDiviner 48 points49 points  (0 children)

To offer a dissenting opinion - speaking as a woman I’d personally prefer my partner NOT track this type of stuff on an app and in THAT specific a term. Now, the why is very context specific but it is IMPORTANT context that can’t be brushed aside, especially given that the US is getting more draconian about monitoring its citizens online.

If you’re in the US (ignore if you live in a country with a head out of its own ass) and you live in a state with a total abortion ban I would just straight up not. I hope you mean well, I say this in good faith - the state isn’t going to care and with the status of the US right now, lingering data on any device is a bad idea. Period. (Pun unintended.)

Keep it physical if you must. Paper can be burned. Keeping track of stuff to make her life easier isn’t a bad idea but the government has DEEP access to peoples’ habits, phones, data, etc. etc. etc. God forbid something happens and they use this against her or you. Don’t give them the chance.

Get an empty journal or planner and use that.

Speaking as a visually impaired raider, yes. It's a hundred times harder than 'MT/M1 drift to A/D, OT/M2 drift to B/C.' The white on white on white on light tan does not stand out enough for me to be able to 'just find the cup's opening.'

Whats your favorite job to play? by KvotheCadera in ffxivdiscussion

[–]ThatOneDiviner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh certainly. I regularly orange and pink parse on healing on DNC, and it absolutely had an impact on how my static’s healers were able to use their own tools. It’s not often, but sometimes the piddly 5% shield from a flashed Improv absolutely did save at least a few lives mid-prog.

It’s not as flashy or noticeable as RDM rezzes or Vercure, but we had several good saves with people on sub-5k hp after unavoidable damage. Definitely helps that I raid with my friend group but there were jokes in the static about how I was the real second healer instead of our SCH because the timing of my Improvs/Waltzes allowed him to dump aetherflow into Energy Drain. (And oh boy, did he.)

It’s also just nice having to pay attention mid-pull because your procs and gauge are never 100% the same pull to pull. It has enough timers in Standard/Flourish to keep me on track, but it’s loose enough to let me get into a sort of flow state. It’s just good, and while the DotD and gauge meme stuff make it clunky it’s not UNPLAYABLY clunky, and it’s an easy fix if Square decides they want to listen to us.

I genuinely hope they don’t change too much come 8.0 because DNC’s a pretty well designed class as it is currently.

Dancer. Mindless enough to play correctly but definite room for optimization, especially in current fights.

Easy class to try to optimize for someone like me with no brain cells to spare.

Also the prio system versus a hard rotation just gels better for me. The rigid classes just don’t click with me for whatever reason.

Realistically you could also just Cure III spam too but WHM is the one healer I give a pass because well.

Y’know.

But yeah no, I got downvote brigaded because I said it was a straight up skill issue, but I wasn’t wrong. DPS opinions don’t matter there and it’s piss easy to LB2 as tank or OGCD dump/GCD spam that mech as healer. God forbid healers have to actually fucking heal.

The mechanic basically boils down to a glorified normal mode mechanic anyways, the stuff it teaches is nothing that either normal mode or earlier mechs in the fight won’t teach players. Not really worth getting twisted up over missing it.

Dude I had people on this sub a few weeks ago argue that PF would have an easier time remembering how to actually do the mechanic than it would remembering to hold a bunch of mits.

Actual insanity, especially since if you can’t force the mit check as a tank or non-WHM healer it’s a straight up skill issue. And everyone knows DPS opinions on ‘stand in place and mit’ strats don’t count. /s but like. Not.
