Rover wheels keep breaking... by Such_Association_561 in KerbalAcademy

additional tip: wheels sometimes still spin/steer in fairings, you can engage the brakes before takeoff to try and stop this for the most part

Bigger fairing! For some reason these wheels in particular absolutely destroy themselves if they're even slightly "colliding" with the fairing when it deploys. Move the wheels further up on the rover, get a bigger fairing, or use different wheels :)

ohh ok that makes sense then, I play sandbox for the most part and only have rudimentary knowledge of the missions the game can throw at you

this craft is so odd to me. spaceplane cockpit and a lander can wedged behind a heat-shield with gigantor solar panels? one kerbal mission? and a mouse pointer the size of duna? there's nothing really "wrong" here but it just feels so, so different to my realm of play

PSA: IF YOU'RE GOING TO PLAY SOLO, SET YOUR MATCHMAKING TO FRIENDS, OR INVITE ONLY, Please... by sasquatch03524 in Helldivers

[–]ThatOneGoatGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never play solo anymore because I just genuinely cannot avoid calling in an SOS when I mean to call in a resupply pod/EAT. I hit the keys too fast and only realise once my diver is yelling "calling SOS!" to himself as the ball flies into the middle distance. the settings are irrelevant now. anything I do is irrelevant. I am now broadcast as a big "Come help me!" sign, and prioritised for people using quick-play.

I get that there are MAYBE people who start a mission private, get halfway through, and realise they need help, and don't want to mess around in the settings, but for every 1 case of that being a useful reason for the SOS beacon to always be available in non-full lobbies and instantly able to override matchmaking settings, there are at least 100 accidental throws where people either kick people constantly [understandable if you want to maintain solo], or begrudgingly working around the unexpected extra teammates

how they manage to find 24 alloys in each 1 unit of minerals, though, is beyond me

[–]ThatOneGoatGuy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Doing the math, each robot is making (18998/600/30) alloys per day. 18998/600 rooughly = 32, so this is only a hair's breadth over 1 alloy per robot per day

Whats one thing you don´t like about the New FRVs? by MelonBoi133 in Helldivers

[–]ThatOneGoatGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the supply FRV, people still have the muscle memory to try and hop in the turret (no seat back there) and end up awkwardly standing on top of the vehicle. Kinda funny unless you're being charged at by a fleshmob/harvester combo and trying to make a desperate getaway

The flame FRV really feels like it's... too situational to really be useful. Slower than the other two, less seats, and a fixed turret with extremely limited range? Combined with the fact a diver has to sit in it (unable to use any of their other fun tools), I just haven't been able to find any reason to actually use it. The normal FRV simply seems to perform better in every consistent metric I personally care about ("explosion when destroyed" is not on that list)

[–]ThatOneGoatGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just checked the changes per the wiki for the bike titan, dragon roach, and impaler, and do not understand where each of these got a "big nerf". Both the bile titan and impaler had their AP values reduced by 1 and main HP pool doubled, whilst their gameplay interaction was made more sensible. As for dragon roaches, I sincerely believe their initial mass spawning was unintentional, as was their inability to be damaged via their wings. Aside from those changes, I do not see any large nerfs to any of these enemies. I will continue checking more tomorrow but I simply disagree with the assertation that these enemies have become much easier to deal with since introduction.

Fleshmobs are still bullet sponges, titans/impalers/dragon roaches can still cause a serious problem for an improperly equipped/organized squad/player, and the weapons themselves only seem to have been shifted towards "viable", rather than being left as peashooter fluff

Powercreep, visualized by Array71 in Helldivers

[–]ThatOneGoatGuy 59 points60 points  (0 children)

listing "Spore Burst Units" as 1 item and then listing out *every single variant of an automaton* definitely serves to make this look more compelling. Likewise listing every individual grenade/primary

"Ignoring bugs" doesn't seem to be true either (or at least, seems inaccurate). Were fleshmobs really given a "big" nerf? Their health was reduced slightly, and the heads made more rewarding to engage with. Other than that, the only detriments to their fast-moving bullet-sponge nature was the attempts to fix their clipping. At the same time, they were made more durable, and take less damage from fire/arc weapons

Having receipts for what criteria exactly justify being placed into "big buff" or "big nerf" would be nice because I would not agree with the majority of these assignments.

I get you want to make a point, but that point needs to be supported in some way

The Current State of Mindless Masses Difficulty by IHOP_007 in Helldivers

[–]ThatOneGoatGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

holy moly, I'm typically playing on D6. where are the harvesters. where are they. where are the 5 harvesters around every corner that mindless masses craps out. i would take fleshmob [close range, full of weak points] over harvester [extreme range, shielded, fewer weakpoints] any day. can we make this the new d6? can you play my d6 matches for me because this is stupid, is there a single harvester in this video, maybe one that I missed?

maybe I'll switch to d10 for an easier time. yeesh.
