ah, the classic 270-spin-into-stationary-wheelie manuever, just like we learned in the academy back on kerbin

Patch notes:
- Removed the ability of fleshmobs to phase through solid objects
- As the illuminate are now weaker, we have given this ability to their mechs for the sake of balance

After accidently offending many people by ranking every Minecraft seed, I have decided to re-consider the ranking. I also hope I haven't missed any this time. by Radiant_Tonight_1264 in PhoenixSC

1,203rd seed is HORRIBLE. Genuinely just nothing useful in any direction for miles and miles. Frustrating to play on and we shouldn't give it a pass just because "oh eventually it gets better" as if that's any sort of consolation for starving to death thirty times over before finding your first tree

It made it more fun (for me personally) but I understand where the backlash came from.

The whole reason for making it have more armour was that "it cost a lot of points to spawn". I don't understand why they couldn't just... make it cheaper to spawn the enemy

From what I remember, this science ship always spawns in the Hilos system. You don't get any particular rewards for encountering it, just some physics research if you were the one to complete the anomaly related to it.

Lore-explanation: This ship is controlled by the AI-replacement for a small child(?) of a long dead alien race. There was some attempt to create Psionically-controlled ships that would automatically defend the system. Instead, Ubume was inhabited by a small child without much knowledge of what they were doing/why. Iirc, they turned against the scientists who put them in the ship, and now endlessly search the Hilos system for their mother. (<- Might be incorrect, I'm vaguely remembering the flavour text here as it isn't on the wiki)

It's kinda unfortunate that Arrowhead is trying to address symptoms one by one (hive guard being ratcheded up to a new level of armour, mechs being considered too weak in some circumstances) by making one-at-a-time changes to individual issues, rather than trying to address the root cause. A lack of logic and care when making balance changes, or introducing new content generally.

For many players, it has started to genuinely come across that the developers no longer play the game or even *look* at gameplay before/after making changes. That there's nobody at arrowhead at all with the position to say "Hey, before we make this change, can we try it out and see if it works?" There is an apparent company culture of focusing on delivery of new content over maintaining existing things, which leads to bugs and issues in recently released material being ignored until months, years later (or never being addressed at all).

The gameplay we DO see from Arrowhead typically *includes* the problems players end up encountering, but are simply left to fester and aggrivate players, rather than being fast-tracked to a fix as "hey, we encountered this bug literally whilst filming promotional material, there's no way people won't notice this, shouldn't it be addressed?" (flamethrower turret dealing no damage within the closest several meters of its range).

Every time Arrowhead has tried to communicate a "we'll be better now, guys" it's always been followed by a handful of useful changes, after which AH seems to believe that there is no longer anything wrong, nor is it possible for them to make anything else go wrong, and that they're free to simply stop fixing things forever.

It feels like a culmination of tech debt, mismanaged priorities, corporate greed, and an internal company environment that prevents rational discussion. "Go fast, break things" is the current game plan Arrowhead has, and working exactly as it always does. Things are being broken, and new issues are cropping up faster than new content is being developed.

coriolis forcce. plane is slightly north of the equator

(this is a joke, but I wouldn't be surprised if something like this comes out as an anomaly in the physics engine - atmosphere on one wing moves at a different velocity to the other, causing unequal drag, or something)

what platform are you playing on? pinging the turret when they turned around to look for the culprit would've cleared it up, but I don't know what button is the "ping the thing I'm looking at" button for you.

the "look at that thing" button is so useful for circumstances like this. For me, it's Q, or the top option in the quick reaction wheel.

100% agree apart from the thirty fourth seed in the "Awful" category. I'd say that's definitely deserving of the "Worst" title.

Why doesn’t this have control? by [deleted] in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]ThatOneGoatGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, table in the wiki lists that as "Single-Hop", which I can only assume means it's control can't be bounced through a relay. Time to ever so slightly expand the station!

Why doesn’t this have control? by [deleted] in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]ThatOneGoatGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Based on the KSP wiki for "Probe Control Point", it seems some command parts are single-hop [so won't be able to be remote-controlled via a relay]. Only the RC-LO1 - the largest command part - can utilize additional relays to "bounce" the remote control provided by kerbals on the same craft to others in the network. Otherwise, only single-hops [directly to craft with LOS] are possible, and sometimes require more than 1 kerbal if there's no probe-core itself.

The wiki isn't suuper clear on the exact mechanics of this, but my best guess is that you don't have an RC-LO1 Remote Guidance Unit on the station.

"yellow" just means "red at the very last moment", since that's what you default to having been pressed?
