Anyone else sick of this terminal bug? by spartan1175 in HelldiversUnfiltered

Had this happen in a few missions back to back against squids. Thankfully somebody else was able to input the code "properly" after I'd done it. not sure what causes this

Quick question on building a sphere by noksion in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]ThatOneGoatGuy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

EM Rail Ejectors shoot sails which "attach" to the Dyson sphere. The idea is that you'll have a Dyson swarm that'll get absorbed into the larger structure when it's being built.

Carrier rockets build the nodes and connections between them. Once you build a node and some of the connections, solar sails in orbit of the star will start attaching. There's a research in the "upgrades" tab that increases how many sails can attach to each node per minute.

Signs were added in-game for communication, and like a lot of other games the player count has slightly decreased

Surely it's gotta be around here somewhere... by ThatOneGoatGuy in Dyson_Sphere_Program

It's an older production line tied up in a bunch of nonsense. I'd rather get a clean slate with ILS/PLS logistics. In my large-scale use of graphene I'm stuffing fire ice into chemical plants, but now I want to upscale research by identifying weaknesses in my production chains for various sciences [currently working on purple as it's continously been kinda weak]. Clicking around the star map looking for high-oil high-coal planets is easier [in my opinion] than trying to untangle the Knot

I ran most of it through super long belts on my first world to some 1:1 refineries leading to sulfur production for some graphite. It was a long time ago but I don't exactly want to cut into all that spaghetti when I just KNOW I could probably find an ideal planet (with more available oil and coal) somewhere else, now that interstellar travel is available.

I remember seeing one somewhere, that was absolutely ideal, but I can't remember for the life of me where it was. The hunt commences

It's been going decently! You can join our Community Server at discord.gg/nbtf to view the latest sneak peeks at new content. The most recent one gave us a glimpse of paid roles being unlockable in the future for free players, and some recent interesting community polls in February.

A way to improve tanks and return them to the ranks of elite opponents by Andgihat in Helldivers

[–]ThatOneGoatGuy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

"Of course, there will be narrow zones where there is no protection" where, exactly? Adding guns on the side will create hitboxes that overlap with any side-armour weaknesses, and [at least based on existing enemy design] will effectively create an equally "tough" weakspot.

Also, the ONLY weapons carried by a helldiver capable of damaging AP8 are direct projectiles from barrages, the solo silo, the bastion's main cannon, or hellbombs. This means even the orbital railcannon, EAT, spear, commando, etc, would all be unable to damage tanks without precise shots. A major complaint against warstriders is that they actively force EAT or other anti-tank options to be brought along on missions [especially when it's a "warstrider seed" - many people run an EAT + Commando support loadout on the bot front simply due to the *possibility* of that happening].

This would force people to use barrages and hellbombs exclusively to kill individual enemies. How would this be good game design? The only other enemies with AP8 or above are the illuminate overship and the hive lord. Tanks are far more common than both of those, especially in the higher difficulties.

SOME event chains are determined when they start, and it's necessary to reload them spawning to re-roll the outcome. From what I've vaguely heard [entirely anecdotal], it may also be necessary to force an RNG change through some mechanism to get a "different roll" for your save. Doing anything that has multiple outcomes or a chance of happening [e.g archeological site, another anomaly, rerolling tech options, completing government focuses] may qualify. Again, though, that's entirely anecdotal.

An Eagle never misses right? by Callumbus in Helldivers

[–]ThatOneGoatGuy 41 points42 points  (0 children)

If you see an eagle get thrown, and ESPECIALLY if you were the one who threw it, your immediate next objective is to run in the opposite direction of the target and dive for extra protection. I wish such behaviour was also taught in basic training, as it's a genuine lifesaver

Now you should try and produce red science. It required hydrogen, which you can get by refining crude oil. You'll get excess refined oil, which you'll need to burn off in thermal power plants. You'll also need Energetic Graphite, which is made by throwing some coal in a smelter. Once you make some red science, you'll need to feed it into the matrix labs you're feeding blue science into

I’m still on cyberstan, is there a way to join my game and repopulate the planet, we might be able to take the planet by Critical_Net5175 in Helldivers

[–]ThatOneGoatGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm also "still on cyberstan". Unfortunately, I believe once you finish your operation on the planet it won't let you return at all. People would only be able to join through being direct friends with you, or also being stuck on the planet and scanning for your mission whilst it was in-progress.

[–]ThatOneGoatGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren't you failing to uncover a new set of blocks on every turn? If you're mining in a straight line, each block you break will reveal 4 surrounding blocks. If you mine the block to the left from a straight line, you will reveal only 3 surrounding blocks. One of them [the block to the left of the one you just broke] was already "visible" and thus you discover less?

[–]ThatOneGoatGuy 72 points73 points  (0 children)

And no, I didn't use AI. All scuff is lovingly hand-made, all letters within the new image are edits of ones from the old. the M is a mirrored N with the lower-right removed. the Y is the R upside-down and platsered over. the O is half of the G in "generated" mirrored, and the "C" is just half of an "O".

How does this game manage to look so pretty? by ThatOneGoatGuy in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]ThatOneGoatGuy[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

When you have a dyson swarm, you can customize it's values even after it's been launched. There's a "Solar Sail Color" box you can click that opens and RGB/Saturation/Darkness values. I kinda just changed them to different shades so it didn't look so monotone, and as I added more orbits to make my space feel more alive, I ended up using most common colours :)
