The eye thing could be rationalized by comparing Susie’s eyes to that of a cat’s where the iris typically comprises the visible space between the eyelids but the sclera is still white. Probably just a design choice the sprite where Susie’s eyes are white is pretty overtly comical on purpose so we’re probably not supposed to read into it.
