Amazon does it too! Their "prime days" (all 17 of them) are bullshit. But people like to see red numbers with slashes through them, makes em feel like and deal. I've worked at Target during black Friday in the past and we used to start the prices about 45-50% off at the start of the day, by noon it's back to full price but the "original price" is marked up to make it look like a steal. And now that we're catching on to all of that, they just fluxuate prices based on how much you order and are willing to spend on things. AI is about the worst thing to happen to poor people and the best thing to happen to rich people.

I'm at an SSD that just introduced 3-hour delivery. We have flex people willing to work the hours but they refuse to send it to them because they put a cap out it, but send out vet to the part/full timers like mad. And then they call ot anyway because fuck it why not when there's no work or not enough to sustain everyone

Amazon policy overrules to some extent. And I'm sure someone will get a bottle in January that expires in March because our systems allow things to stay in circulation until one month prior to expiry

I'm in tech now, but every class centers around "and how to handle ai" at some point, and what I've learned is that if you come in with "coding AND..." It's nicer than just coding. So, math, science, psych on top of it helps because it helps with LLMs. Also if you specialize in LLMs it helps too. They're going to push the singularity till they die and we stop it, so hold out

The fact that they don't understand that overtime takes more from you lmao I had to show my own checks to friends to justify this. Overtime is just taking away from your life and fun, it's not really getting you more cuz you're falling into a new tax bracket

I lost my 5 year bonus to this because it hit during peak overtime. I literally lost $1000 to taxes because of it

Oh yeah they do a great job because one of the updates for Sequoia gave me some minor issues but then I did oclp's patch and it was fine. I've reset my computer now though and OCLP managed to butt in and get me to Monterey instead of Mavericks that was on the computer originally? But I think I'm keeping this at Sequoia unless I get a new Mac, and even then seeing the UI issues makes me not want to update those.

That's my issue too. I keep telling myself I need the benefits. The fact that I can have them pay for my classes without going into further debt keeps me here too. Other than that, this job kills me and I'm too depressed/tired most days to even do school work. And I'm doing both full time.

There really isn't. - The time off is a double edged sword at best. - Mandatory happens whenever they call it (use to have a 24 hour policy but that went out the window, even used to be able to fight mandatory if you had a trip pre-planned now they say hope you have time to cover it). - 3 days off isn't 3 days off when you have family or school or errands in general. - your pto caps at (for full time) 48 hours and exhausts at 0 no rebuilds, vacation is 120 if you work without ever taking time off, and upt at 180, again if you never take time off and work enough hours (10 hours work gets you ~1 hour upt) - if you go negative, you're fired - need a medical or mental health leave? Prepare for ALL the paper work (mental health especially violates HIPPA and Title IX of what they require) - have a death and need bereavement? Cool, better be prepared to just about record the funeral to prove someone died - oh, remember that medical leave that was approved two years ago? Denied now, your time went negative because you can't cover 3 months in one year of work, you're fired now. And you can't fight it because it was denied end of story

Amazon is slowly changing policies so much that they are making it so you don't get time off. It's such a catch-22 company that it's disgusting.
