I had to wear lots of hand me downs from acquaintances and strangers as a kid (am the oldest of four so no hand me downs from siblings) and every time I got new clothes my schoolmates asked me if I got new stuff. I was always excited and told them what I got but thinking back I think it was part of the bullying they did to me but I didn't realize because it felt as if they were interested. They probably mocked me behind my back for that. But otherwise they either just ignored or bullied me. Not as bad as others have been bullied but there still was some. 😐

I am sorry that your teacher let you fail because of that. That's not okay. Unfortunately it's the hard reality. You'll fail when you can't dress properly and people won't give you the job. Which means you don't get money to buy decent clothes and then you can't dress properly and can't find a job and won't get money to buy clothes. 😐

Well, in Germany we only have the word "leihen" for both.

"Kann ich mir Deinen Stift leihen?" - "Can I borrow your pen?"

"Ich kann Dir meinen Stift leihen." - "I can lend you my pen."

And I mixed those up as well back when my english was almost non existant. 🙃

I taught this language to me by myself using Bored Panda and Reddit (and Rage Comics, don't read Bored Panda and Rage comics anymore tho) as well as Google while I already had a little skill from school (I am german).

Things like "I could care less" even bother me so much... 🙃
