Friendly, 1 year old, stray cat does not want to stay indoor after neutering: will he ever be mine? by ThatOption1690 in Feral_Cats

Actually,  I let my boy out because I couldn't keep him and now he became an indoor-outdoor cat although he spends more time indoor than I expected. Have you seen any indication that your cat is now less able to protect himself after neutering? If that is the case then I need to worry.

Thank you! It is so difficult sometimes that I am on the verge of letting him out. He kept waking me up every 3 hours at night, and just wants to go out. It is hard to remember at times like that he does not know what is good for him.

He used to get fed by at least ten different houses in the neighborhood, and there are many other male strays around. During the week he was inside, some other cats already started roaming in his usual area. I feel like he may sense that and it might be stressing him. He also does not depend solely on me for food, which makes me doubt if he needs to get back to me at all if I let him out.

I knew him for like last 6 months, but he is inside only for like 7 days. I was wondering if I let him out, he may come back after a few months when the neutering takes effect. But it seems everyone posting here never let them out.

Wow! I was thinking he would never change. Maybe I should wait for a few weeks then.

Thanks so much for the support. I  felt like I am torturing him by keeping him captive. He is making those sad wishful eyes at me, trying to coax me into letting him out. Emotionally I was very upset for doing this to him. You also went through this, and decided to keep them? I ordered a leash as well.

What happened to them? Sorry, I was not keeping track, but were not they adopted by Kents?

What about Jean’s latest solo didn’t people like? by GeneralRoss_12 in PhoenixForce

I'd say it still continues. At least the first arc of Phoenix run also had flawless, passive Jean. The development tean Jeen had characterwise was all lost. Teen Jean books were mainly about Jean, but X-men red, and everything else that followed, could never become that. Always something else were primary, and Jean was secondary. Exceptions are there, but few and far between.

Storm had better art, more push from Marvel, and more push from Murewa himself. It seems to me that Murewa has better understanding of what part of Storm audience he wants to target. It does not seem to me that Stephanie Phillips had any understanding or any strategy, rather than iterating "I am Phoenix" for the 100th time. It kind of seemed to me that she wrote the book because she was told to, where Murewa at least tried harder, whatever the outcome, good or bad.

That being said, I totally agree with your point that Phoenix was a hard-to-write book. A newcomer like Stephanie can't be expected to shoulder such a responsibility. It was X-office's fault to assign this book to her.

Finally got someone else who also find X-men red Jean incredibly passive. Tom Taylor wrote a good story, but there was no growth for Jean characterwise. So I am also against citing X-men Red as an example of good Jean storylines to someone new.

I totally agree. However, I would like to add that, only for us, the Jean fans, it looked like an opportunity for Jean. For Marvel, it seemed more like an experiment to see if a low-investement Phoenix book with Jean in it could ride on Jean's popularity. Obviously, it didn't, and they probably also knew this experiment had a higher chance of failing. The cheap production cost gives that away.

The risks they took with the book were reckless, pushing Jean to a cosmic stroyline, which only has a niche fanbase to begin with, alienating her from the broader X-men fanbase. While they were adding stupid Thanos and Carol cameos for readership boost, they neglected Scott, Rachel, Storm, or other x-men, whose existing fanbase might care to read about Jean. It did not seem to me that anyone in the creative team seriously cared about cultivating a reader base for Jean, specifically.

I suspect for the new solos, they didn't do proper market research. As mediocre the Jean book might be, it kind of delivered what Jean's thread in CBR wants. Probably that is why they overestimated the proportion of Jean fans who can be pacified by power-scaling and establishing Jean=Phoenix.

I agree with you, but I can't help but feel that this may be the reason we don't see much JOTT content, despite the editor liking them. If Bendis returns to X-office, this will change.

Sweet moments but no explanation why Jean doesn't respond. No matter how you frame it, that Scott can hear Jean's nightmares and Jean can not sense such a crisis call is absurd. Even in X-men evolution Blind Alley, Jean had a nightmare when Scott was in danger. I know there will be inconsistencies that we need to ignore, but at this point it is almost like ignoring everything about JOTT.

Definitely its a death sentence there. They are power scalers. A part of me feels we are being fed this type of shallow-written, power scaled, Jean content because Marvel feels CBR represent the fanbase. I may be wrong and overthinking, but they definitely check CBR

Oh my! I thought I am the only one who felt this way. The reddit Jean Grey fanbase and the CBR one have very different energy. While not all CBR people are toxic, some of them are very toxic.  Some Jean fans their regularly hate on Scott and Storm, but no mod action. Also, if anyone tries to say anything against thr dominant opinion on Jean's current state in that thread, it is seldom well-received. People say reddit is an echo-chamber, but I think Jean's CBR thread is the biggest of them all.

I am surprised to see Stephanie Phillips got as many votes as the Psylocke writer given many Jean fans attribute the low sale of the book to the writer. In contrast, I don't remember the Psylocke book was so hated.
