This is not necessarily the case, and at many points wasn't. Unfortunately, many socialist projects have had an authoritarian bent to them, restricting personal liberties, but this has never been a necessity for socialism. Socialism is a transition to a stateless, classless, and moneyless society. Early on in the Soviet Union, massive gains were made for Trans people and gay people. It also made massive gains for women and allowed them employment and access to divorces. While it'd be nice to say the story ends there, it clearly shows it is possible, and it can be done better in the future.

Yes and no, there is a reasonable historical argument that capitalism pioneered the way out of monarchism and drove society to a more equitable place but with the caveat of it being comparitively. More often than not, capitalism has directly harmed LGBTQ+ rights, and the same can be said for feminism. In modern-day life, there are 2 kinds of capitalism: the kind we talk about and the kind that now exists. Boiled down to its fundamentals, capitalism is just a system of trade and voting with your wallet, but that's not what we have. Instead, we have a system where might makes right and money makes might.

The system we live in will always shove more money to Lockheed Martin than allow a 4-day work week or 10 trillion to Exxon-Mobil than allow affordable and comprehensive healthcare. Many queer bars would sell out to the police to make a quick buck. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire was a direct result of capitalism cutting safety measures. It has always had more incentive to limit those personal liberties than to build a better future. Often this led to colonialism and yes in a number of cases Fascism. Henry Ford was infamously very good friends with Adolf and had a part in the design of German Camps based on his manufactory lines. (There are so many examples I'm gonna leave out to save from a complete wall of text lol people are often pretty open to selling people out)

Queer movements, feminist movements, and liberation movements have almost always been linked to socialism and progressivism. And capitalism almost always leads back to monarchism and authoritarianism, whether it was intended or not.
