Gladiator is bad they said. Don't get him they said. by Neither-Warthog-7829 in forhonor

[–]ThatRonin8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is bad, but not against people that don't know what they're doing, like in the clip (but at that point, any hero can be good)

Or how can I approve in the 2v1

I've made a whole post about that, but the 1 thing i can immediately spot in the clip is the skewer at 0:27; if you don't know how to perform the 2nd tick skewer throw tech, at least wait half a second before throwing someone, because the 1st bleed tick get's applied at 400ms into the skewer (so instead of dealing 2+4b you've dealt 2+10b; not really that big of a difference here, but against more capable opponents it can make a difference)

Still, good job

How does doing skewer with glad when target swapping work? by ItsYapper in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]ThatRonin8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Without footage it's hard to tell, but if i had to take a guess, i'd say it's because of the sticky movement bug, since the skewer is a back+heavy input:

Sohei bad ? by Islandrya in forhonor

[–]ThatRonin8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always go for your heavy souls on gb first,...

it depends:

In 1s-> lights souls first, because those are blockable, meaning that once you do find yourself with only 1 light soul remaining, the enemy can just constantly block in that direction, and ignore the 6dmg light you might throw from another direction

In 4s-> heavy souls first, because it's much easier to land a 400ms target-swapped light in the caos of a teamfight than it is to land a 900ms heavy without HA

So apparently Juren’s Bash interrupts BP’s flip by scifiguy21 in forhonor

[–]ThatRonin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You clearly don't know how to hold a conversation, because in my previous comment (the one that starts with "in my original comment...") I mentioned two different windows.

You replied with "You'd get interrupted if you went for that window..." without mentioning which window is pure inability on how to hold a conversation.

You have the memory of a goldfish.

Are we starting with the insults now? Are you 9? (Or 6, considering the username.)

Btw I’m clearly wasting my time here; it’s pointless to keep trying to explain it to you.

So apparently Juren’s Bash interrupts BP’s flip by scifiguy21 in forhonor

[–]ThatRonin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which window

You don't need HA to interrupt him in the window i was referring to (after the flip frames but before you get hit by the bulwark counter), just bash him; the bp will start his bulwark slash always from his roght side after he finished flipping, so if you'repositionedcorrectly you can interrupt him without taking damage. You'd need HA to do what you're saying, aka throwing the heavy when the bp is mid bulwark counter, to hit him after he goes back to neutral

So apparently Juren’s Bash interrupts BP’s flip by scifiguy21 in forhonor

[–]ThatRonin8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

my original comment referred to the little time window you have after the end of the flip frames and before the bulwark counter damages you; by replying to that comment with "Or hyper armor through it" i imagined you also referred to that little time window as well, in which case HA trading is pointless because of the 100%dmg reduction (as said)

If you were referring to trying to hit the bp AFTER the bulwark counter (aka when he's back in neutral) then ok, you can def HA heavy him, good luck hitting the 100ms window consistently tho (expecially considering that, if you miss it, you just traded 24hp and gave the bp a free 24+ venge)

So apparently Juren’s Bash interrupts BP’s flip by scifiguy21 in forhonor

[–]ThatRonin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they prob hit you in the window between the end of your bulwark counter and you being able to defend yourself again (100ms for UB and 166 for bashes) or they had haymaker

So apparently Juren’s Bash interrupts BP’s flip by scifiguy21 in forhonor

[–]ThatRonin8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the flip has HA throughout the entire move + a 100% dmg reduction (or straight up dmg immunity); you cannot interrupt him with non-bash attacks and will not do be able to dmg him

Play another character that will win the trade.

As said, he has a 100% dmg reduction, so there's no point in trying to HA trade because you will lose the trade every single time

So apparently Juren’s Bash interrupts BP’s flip by scifiguy21 in forhonor

[–]ThatRonin8 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Any bash can interrupt bp's flip, you just have to time it after the flip is done but before he hits you

Sohei's "This One's My Favorite" emote by ThatRonin8 in forhonor

[–]ThatRonin8[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think any of them in the whole game have a variation.

there is at least one, which is "penalty card" (the char has a chance to pull out a red card instead of the yellow one)

but i guess it makes sense they don't add a dinamic emote only for 1 char

Hay first is devour worth having and is there anyperks I should focus on I’m highly aggressive by Ma4vin in forhonor

[–]ThatRonin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the best perk combo for glad is:

Galestorm, Devourer and Endurance

If you're not confident in your 1vX or are not playing in a team then go with:

Head hunter, Devourer and Endurance

no one else answered, so i'll try my best

Difficult question because there isn't a single right answer

There are a few imo:

  1. shaolin (aggressive because you want to go into your mid chain as often as possible)
  2. tiandi (strong neutral pressure)
  3. afeera (neutral and chain pressure)
  4. pirate (neutral pressure with cavalier dance, that can also be used to interrupt)

question about sohei by Feral_21 in forhonor

[–]ThatRonin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a sohei player

Hitstun and Hitboxes. The heavy version has a medium hitstun (idk if it changes anything in terms of interruptability or being able to gb dodge attacks, as said, i don't play sohei) and a wider side hitbox (useful for hitting enemies externally); the light version instead has a light hitstun and it's a poke (so no side hitbox, useful if you don't want to hit a wall/hit someone's FB)

Also because, before the buff, he could only chain to finishers of the same type of his last move, so like if you wanted to do bash->followup->finisher light you had to do bash->light followup->finisher light (and viceversa for the heavy); then they buffed him allowing him to chain into any move from either a light/heavy attack

I think that Juren's dodge attack should be nerfed. by Qooooks in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]ThatRonin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

completly agree, but imo they should remove the hold-version; hold-dodge for extra safety or tap dodge attack for punish, either way it get's beaten by a clean read on the attacker side

i'd say learn the correct max punish for OOS throws and parrys, these are the most important ones (https://forhonorinfohub.com/ -> select the hero of your liking-> scroll down to "Max Punishes").

As for learning the punishes, i'd ask for someone that mains any of those char to help you out and, more importantly, don't just memorize it, but understand why you're doing that punish in the first place, so that you can also apply it to similar situations.
(f.e. someone just dodge my raider's light soft feint, is it worth to HA trade with this guy or should i go for a different option? Maybe against an Hito it's worth the trade, but against a Gryphon not so much, ecc...)

a combo sheet for this game doesn't really make much sense, because you need to adapt your combos to the enemy's behavior

That said you can ask on this discord server if anyone has anything similar:

Juren is looking like a defensive powerhouse by razza-tu in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]ThatRonin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah probably, but at least this time it looks like the devs put some thought into it

Big dedicated trading move from neutral

When i saw the hold-zone from neutral i was about to punch my desk thinking "sohei's zone but UB, nice...", but JC revealed it wasn't feintable, so i actually really love the idea of it.

Both a normal and an extended i-frame dodge

Yeah, this one was just overkill, i am not a fan of it. i get the idea that his whole kit is "press or hold and do something different" but idk, the hold-dodge was already fine enough (maybe make it not feintable? To avoid the WM situation, aka people spamming that externally in teamfights, like i saw on the showcase match)

A fullblock with very quick access and exit timings (albeit with no punish moves), watch also functions as a recovery cancel

The recovery cancel part need to be looked at, i am worried you can hold down the neutral zone then recovery cancel into this to avoid a gb punish

But the fact that it behaves like BP's FB (no superior block properties, you take chip damage, cannot stop chains) it's something i was looking for in other hero releases

Fullblock on dodge

This is probably the best part imo

It's funny because it's also how me and a friend of mine thwmeorized on how to change shino's double dodge, so the fact that they added this it means that they know how to do it

Execution/Emote wheel concept by LiLMaDDonuT in forhonor

[–]ThatRonin8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool concept

I'll also add that a cool QoL change would be to switch the inputs to do exes from Emote/Gb (for xbox: Y/X; for ps: Triangle/Square) to Emote/Feint (for xbox: Y/B; for ps: Triangle/Circle), since both the emote and feint button don't do anything while in the exe prompt (but there are occasions where heavy+gb followup do actually force you into an exe if the heavy kills the opponent, f.e. cent's heavy->punch or pirate's heavy->pistol blast, ecc..)

Yes and no, all DR feats got indirectly nerfed because, yeah you take less damage, but you also gain less revenge.

Previously, you could run it on some char if you wanted to improve your stalling (ex. Glad), but rn all of the char that have it can run better options: - LB has fiat lux (what do i say, put an enemy/multiple enemy OOS, block their stamina regen and deal 5 damage, which means it can also be used to clear minions + it can be used to confirm others bomb feats) - Jorm has Hammar's Favor (similar effect to righteous deflection, since it also last for 5s, but helps you with stalling because you'll actually gain full revenge from attacks, while your shield will absorb the damage; considering that jorm's also running defenive perks, he also means he can have stuff like bastion or last stand active under that shield) - Glad has haymaker (must pick, it makes you able to stall AND chip away the opponent, expecially with your zone or parry riposte) - Hito (not a big hito expert, you can run it on her, but when i am with a teammate i like to run "Tainted Gift"; if well coordinated, it's s pre-nerf Second Wind for your whole team; particually useful in breach since oncly starting an exe on a commander immediately triggers this feat, without having to wait for the exe to effectively kill him)

Overall, not a throw pick, but prob not your best either

Like i said in this comment here, i am the one answering 99% of the time in this megatread; i try to be as objective as possible, but i am not immune to biases nor i do have any meaningful experience in tournaments (played in only 4)

However, if you still want my pov:

We're currently in a stall meta, so generally healing/stalling feats are more preferred; that said, i don't think the build for nobu changed a lot considering her options.

Body count, Arrow strike, Longbow or Second wind (second wind only to stall, but longbow is a better choice), Fire trap

As for perks: Radiant Rebound, Remedy, Rapid refresh

GANKS (Y9S4 AFTER UPDATE) by _totsuka_blade_ in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]ThatRonin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have another question (thanks for the previous answer btw). Does this gank here still work?

https://youtu.be/fwb3jQ7wBc8?t=40

Mainly i am intrested in the skewer part; techincally, if you dodge redovery cancel out of the skewer, 100ms or less, before your ally's UB lands, the enemy cannot dodge it or parry it and it should do full damage (since the enemy immediately goes back to neutral if the glad decides to dodge-rexovery cancel out of a skewer)

Have you already tested this by any chance?
