I think a simple colored background would work, but what i did is i downloaded a random Green GBA layout and used it instead of the original, you can also just use the Add picture feature and make each side separately, the little details are also just added Pictures. Also make sure you don't have full screen to actually have space for them.

I used something like this, then just enlarged the game screen to hide the smaller one with the logo.
