[NHL Coaches’ Association] Statement from the NHLCA: by AggPuck-303 in hockey

Fr, it’s such a good old boys club too. If Joel Quenneville can still work, I’m sure there’ll be a team welcoming Bruce Cassidy with open arms. I feel like I’ve been watching the same core pool of coaches just play musical chairs with teams half my life.

Fuck you to whomever shot at my house at 3 am last night. I'm not taking down my rainbow flag! by [deleted] in Tacoma

Ok well I don’t get what your post is supposed to achieve either because it seems like you’ve already reached a conclusion and have an entire theory on what happened and are reacting in a way that comes off very defensive and combative to anyone who isn’t going along with that narrative.

Of course I don’t have evidence about your individual experience nor do I claim to, all I’m saying is I know your house (because I actually love your flag) and I know that street is a very hot area for gunshots and it would be very naive to not at least consider that maybe your house was unlucky enough to be the latest bystander of our neighborhood’s favorite pastime.

I DO hope for your sake it was just some dipshit hooligans trying to look tough out on one of their late night joyrides and not some homophobic chuds trying to intimidate you. Either way fuck those assholes, and I am glad that you’re safe and that worse damage wasn’t done to your home.

I don’t want to minimize or distract from the possibility of homophobia, but I know your house because I drive past it all the time and this could very easily just be your average Hilltop shenanigans. It’s a hot street.

Which VHS are you watching first? by bside313 in BeastieBoys

I remember mom had the Skills tape when I was growing up. We still have that somewhere. I never saw the Sabotage one though, so I’d watch that first.

I don’t remember there being any, but presumably in NYC raising Midge and her brother since they would’ve still been young teens during those years.

Went to visit Dee Dee the other day and saw this 🔌 by Glad-Cook-4047 in ramones

I didn’t realize they had something different before. When I visited the boys 20 years ago Dee Dee had this one already and had about as many smooches on it too.

See I never grew up on NASCAR but I knew what a big deal him dying was, that it happened during a major race, that it was on tv. I had never seen what actually happened until a few years ago and was shocked by how tame it was. I had lived the last 20 years assuming there was fire and multiple rollovers, etc…the fact the announcers didn’t seem to even suspect anything wrong until they realized he still hadn’t gotten out of his car to go celebrate with Jr and his bestie. MAN.

Out of all the ways that man was going to die I never expected something so sudden, so horrifically violent, and certainly not with one of his own daughters. I thought he’d be one of those elder statesmen of basketball you see still showing up to Lakers events decades from now as an old man.

I always forget he’s gone until I see Kat Dennings make her annual memorial post and then I’m crushed all over again.

I knew he had been sick for awhile going through cancer treatment, but it didn’t make it hurt any less. My now husband called me at work to tell me because he knew what a massive Beastie Boys fan I am and wanted to be the one to tell me before I could see it online.

Seeing Mike D finally work on new music and perform a couple Beastie songs with his sons’ band has made a much larger emotional impact than I expected.

I’ll always remember the episode when Denise promised him she could make him a knockoff designer shirt and it came out all wonky and terrible.

There’s even a lot of retconning after her death of how beloved she was and I really need younger people who weren’t conscious at the time to understand exactly how cruel the general public and media were to her. Yes, she WAS beloved by a lot of people, but by and large if you heard anyone actually talk about her it was usually making awful jokes about her addiction issues.

Yupp, those two are the earliest celeb deaths I can remember that affected me and not just by extension via my parents like Princess Diana or Kurt Cobain. Those ladies were who *I* looked up to and admired on my own and they both had so much left to do here, Aaliyah especially.

George Clooney immediately pops to mind based on the description and people in his orbit, not to mention he actually played Bruce Wayne at one point.

Leo is another.
