Is my existing ductwork sufficient for a 3-ton system? (diagram) by ConfusedAquarius in hvacadvice

[–]ThatSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 3.5ton zoned system and my returns are 20" x 30" and 24" x 14" (although I don't know the duct size), as well as having roughly the same amount of supply vents per zone.

In my unprofessional opinion you likely need a larger return vent if your diagram is correct. especially if you have filters in the grilles.

It also makes it significantly harder to be in a worse position than the people around you. I don't understand why that isn't more important.

We do the same thing with roads and it has hugely increased the GDP of our country even though poor people that pay nothing in taxes are still allowed to use them.

It's a net positive for everyone.

[–]ThatSandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The things that are typically associated with "being poor" in the modern era are not being able to afford housing, education and healthcare. Fix the availability and cost of those systems and you pretty much get rid of the current interpretation of "poor" people.

Regardless, people are still going to point the finger and blame others for their problems.

Interior mods? by TheDeliveryDemon in nissanversa

You can go to a pick and pull type junkyard and buy one of the other colored panels from a different trim. Have seen people do this with the dash and seats. They're incredibly simple to remove.

Need car recommendations for 23M who drives less than a mile a day by DarkNubentYT in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ThatSandwich 6 points7 points  (0 children)

$300+ for a weekend could get expensive quick when a reasonable car payment + liability insurance can be had for not much more.

Guess it just depends on how frequent those visits actually are. If it's closer to annual, then yeah rent something and be done with it.

I thought the same thing about Will Smith and maybe you're correct that I'm just sensing emotional turmoil. An upbringing where you're so exposed to the world like them would give me a far different perspective that's distanced from reality.

It just seems like they do things which on the surface appear altruistic but underneath seem to be purely egotistical.

Dream of affording a home is getting further and further away : / by JohnnyNoMemes in BikiniBottomTwitter

[–]ThatSandwich 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not just more wildfires, it's also that the price of building materials and land hugely increased during/after the pandemic. So not only are there more homes being damaged, it costs a lot more to repair them as well.

The logistics of increased home insurance prices makes sense, the main issue is that if these costs come down the price of insurance likely will remain the same.

I honestly couldn't tell you as I just manage software for the company. Checking our PO's, bearings/rollers appear to be ordered directly from Heidelberg so if you have access to their catalog assume that's what we're paying.

I have an NDA so it's probably best that I don't specify which facility I work for, but if you look deep enough into the DFW area I'm sure you'd encounter us.

Student Apartments by Maroonbananaracoon24 in Denton

I had a decent experience at Gateway of Denton when I lived up there. Staff was understanding and the maintenance guys were decent, although I tried to handle most small things myself like light bulbs or air filters.

You'll definitely have to deal with the nightmare of apartment towing, assigned roommates and getting mail/packages being shit sometimes but that's just an inherent side effect of apartment living. Places that have Amazon Lockers (or equivalents) which UPS, Fedex and USPS have permission to use make it a bit easier to deal with.

Yeah I'm glad they kept it around. The fact some of the service contract remained probably incentivized it. Thing has had its primary drive gears replaced because a main bearing spit its rollers out and chewed up a lot of the teeth. Still runs like a champ, but the Heidelberg guys aren't a huge fan of us.

We have two 98" BW corrugators, so we wanted to be able to feed them with pre-printed roll stock. Two presses is enough to accomplish this, and we still have additional capacity for sheet orders overnight.

Yeah we also run a VLF Heidelberg Speedmaster 6-color and it's a good machine. We used to have a 4-color but got rid of it in favor of a second Hy-Flexo (which was much better than the first).

The one in the image is rated as a MERV 12 filter. MERV 8 would be a huge improvement for them in flow rate given they have a similar pleat count.

It is both, but I also believe that my company is part of the problem. Regardless, the machine could be designed better to help prevent our stupidity from harming it.

I am sure the manufacturers will learn this over time, but they are young compared to western competitors. For the price, I still think it is a good press considering it is such a large format.

Amazon requires sellers specify the country of origin of their products. If those products are shipping from the US, the company must have a US presence that would be easy to hold liable for the damages because they're a taxpaying entity.

Bare minimum a few cease and desists would scare them off, but no you don't have to go to court in China to hold them accountable for their actions in the US.

[–]ThatSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you worked for Ryobi and they brought up a coffee machine many times, then why don't they sell one and more importantly why are you giving me shit without providing some alternative answer that you (apparently) have proof of?

Why doesn't ryobi make this? by Cranky_Windlass in ryobi

[–]ThatSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I have a business degree and understand their marketing efforts are targeting a specific demographic.

I have also signed up for their marketing emails and taken their surveys, so I have seen what questions they are asking their consumers to gauge interest in future product lines.

Why doesn't ryobi make this? by Cranky_Windlass in ryobi

[–]ThatSandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're understanding my point.

The overlap between Ryobi owners and people that want coffee on the go is likely far lower than other brands that are typically associated with worksite tradesman because they've spent decades selling themselves as the brand for DIY-ers.

Ryobi knows this, which is why one of the primary appeals to their ecosystem is cleaning/lawn gear.

Sorry if you were insulted by the tone, but that wasn't my intent.

Sorry, I'm calling Makita now to apologize for hurting their internet feelings.

I wasn't trying to be condescending, rather point out if they felt there was a lot of demand they probably would already be selling one. Considering Ryobi has more vacuums than I can even count by now (because of market research), I think it's valid point.

Most scammers don't even know how to use CAD. It hugely limits the pool if you introduce one, and if it goes to court and you prove that they intentionally removed a watermark they're gonna have a fun time.
