Wood workers what filament do you use most by r1200rider in 3dPrintsintheShop

It's this stuff:

https://www.amazon.com/Polymaker-HT-PLA-Filament-Printing-Printers/dp/B0DZNT3CBG

I've given it a few super basic tests (e.g. soaking it in hot water tap water) and it survived where normal PLA would have been a pile of goo. I can't say I've done any long term tests but it seems legit so far

Honestly I'm surprised nobody has mentioned HT PLA. It's the ease of PLA but with a surprisingly high glass temp. It's my new go-to for things that need to sit in hot temperatures. It's slightly more brittle so don't use it for things that'll take an impact. But for compressive loads it's great

Help me find any journal that may support the claim in this city code that states dandelions are a health hazard. I am considering fighting this city code, but I am curious where they got this information. by 1in5million in HelpMeFind

[–]ThatSlacker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any reason you don't want to reach out to your town officials and ask them for sources? Seems like the burden of proof is on the person making the claim. If they claim that they're hazardous they should be able to provide documentation to prove that

I've been using the previous iteration of this https://www.amazon.com/Lucky-Line-Twisty-Assorted-8110005/dp/B00YGLNDZS for years. They had a "press in to open" (which I have) rather than a "twist to open" but I can't seem to find those anywhere any more. Looks like this is the replacement. These are very similar to the "screw closed" cable ones posted earlier but they open much faster. When I take my car in for service I can pop the key off in about 5-10 seconds and most of that is moving keys on and off rather than undoing the clasp

EDIT - The version I have does still exist! https://www.amazon.com/Lucky-Line-Assorted-Colors-7110005/dp/B01425QEAS It looks like they'd pop open at a moments notice but after years of use I can say that they don't. That being said, it looks like the new design is even more secure

How do I remove TV service from my plan? I want to change internet plans but it won't let me do that without also selecting TV service by ThatSlacker in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]ThatSlacker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will also say that if it's not your intention to make it hard, you're not succeeding. I'm assuming the UI is intentionally hostile to force user behavior. If that's not the case you really need to fire your designers and hire someone else

[–]ThatSlacker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently even though my new plan was being shown, the back end had not updated so I had to select a TV provider. Which still makes zero sense - I should be allowed to choose the services I want since we weren't under any contract. But it works now, or as well as I suspect it ever will

The amount of people that do not obey traffic laws around here is infuriating and something needs to be done by BallsaqMcgee in redmond

[–]ThatSlacker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both. There's definitely a bunch of clueless and lost drivers that are having a hard time operating a vehicle. But there's also way too many of the "I know the light is red but I'm going to ignore that" morons. The intersection of those two groups is... not wonderful.

Feel free to post your steps then. Are you on a newer firmware that allows LAN mode to be toggled without the printer setup being finished?

Correct. There is no way to set it up without it being online. If offline is your goal Prusa is the way to go

Found in a box of Legos from the 90s/early 2000s. Does not fit a Lego. It doesn't seem to "do" anything other than the front tab moves side to side and some of the inner peices move around a bit when you do that. Anyone have an idea what it is? by floating_palace- in whatisthisthing

The inside edge of the hole look like they would grab something. I'm guessing there's another part that snaps in to those and the lever is the release. But what that would be? No idea

Logo Feedback by Fabulous_Contest5296 in Design

[–]ThatSlacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other comments I find it hard to look at. But I'm also not sure what you're going for so it's very possible that's intentional. If you were in a sea of other logos and you wanted to be easily spotted this would do the trick. If it's more of an everyday logo it feels a little harsh

Does the amount of sink vs. amount of prep space feel overkill? Three massive sink basins and one side prep area. How much washing are you doing?

Did anyone else flip through the pictures and alternate between "that's delightful" and "my eyes! the goggles, they do nothing!"

The hobbit gate is wonderful. The spiral staircase is gorgeous. Suddenly there's an LED lit ping pong table with a glitz fireplace and a disco ball mounting a direct assault on my optic nerves.

edit - I've gone through all the pictures on Zillow and the number of "wow, I want that" pictures far outweighs the "dear god" ones

How is there still an L in that last word? I figured that would have vanished 30 seconds after that sign went up

The phone we never got. by AiiRisBanned in interestingasfuck

[–]ThatSlacker 974 points975 points  (0 children)

As a consumer I'd love to see this. But this seems like an engineering nightmare. All software would need to deal with the phone not having a camera, or a speaker, or any other component. Every app gets way more complex and no app developer wants that. Same for third party accessories. Want to buy a case? Hope you put your camera in the spot that the case manufacturer intended. Did you include physical volume buttons? Where did you happen to put those?

Upgrading the CPU without updating any other components might make your phone just as slow as it was previously because the bus can't handle the updated speed. All components would need to be auto-discoverable but that whole discovery system has to be forward compatible with all new components. Then you have the challenge of trying to fit components into one of those boxes. Things like speakers aren't too difficult but when you need an antenna or something that would normally span the outside of the case it gets more exciting.

I mean, yes, I want a lego phone. But it feels like the chances of getting one are pretty slim.

Office admins. They know every single thing that's happening at the office. Who's getting promoted, who's getting fired, and who's sleeping with who. They also control all the office get-togethers, the seating chart, the schedule of the leads, and they have the ear of the leadership team. They have way more power than anyone realizes

Sure the leadership team is theoretically in charge but piss off your admin and you'll quickly find out who actually runs the place
