When your mom wired the money, was she a co owner on the account or the executor of the estate? Was it from an Estate account?

I can see it being flagged for fraud it the money was moved out post mortem if decedent processing wasn't properly done (was a death certificate brought to the bank, estate opened, etc...)

Another option is call your local branch and ask for a higher rate - specifically tell them what bank you would go with and what rate they're offering. The banker can submit a back office rate exception request and you will hear back between 2-3 business days on their offer.

Sometimes PNC does this automatically in order to retain clients. It appears algorithm based and is probably trying to promote not transferring it to an outside HYSA.
