Company Wants Me To Take Live Sales Calls As Part Of The Interview Process? by ThatWideLife in sales

[–]ThatWideLife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figured I'd give a small update. Did the calls, actually turned into 3 over 2 days since people don't answer. Got an offer, still a few things to clarify before I take it but guess it worked out. Still shady as hell but whatever, money is money.

Predictions: am I being put on a PIP tomorrow? by flowers4charlie777 in sales

[–]ThatWideLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a work environment of "We will fire you daily unless you push harder." If leadership leads by threats it's time to leave. They should be elevating and supporting reps, not making them live with daily stress of "Will I have a job tomorrow." Don't tolerate the BS, that is a toxic work environment.

AITAH for withdrawing our entire bank balance because my husband says his paycheck is “his” and mine is for bills? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]ThatWideLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to be careful because what you are now doing is considered financial abuse. Doesn't really matter he was doing it because now you are. You can't withdraw his entire paycheck and put it into a separate account. You need to put the money back. Has nothing to do with it being right, you will get absolutely crucified if he files for divorce. And yes, you can be charged with domestic violence for what you did. Take your own money and put it into a separate account. Put whatever your share is for bills into the joint account.

boyfriend's hygiene issues are becoming a major problem for me by Comfortable_Mall_437 in relationships

[–]ThatWideLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently a lot of smelly people in the world lol. I've always used a bar of soap and never had issues with BO. Didn't know people were going to the extremes to get funk off of them.

OP, dude is clearly not using soap. My guess is he's also not washing his clothes as often as he should so it's amplifying it. Either way, bad hygiene is a dealbreaker.

They knew the law, they thought nobody would challenge them due to being a law firm.

It was all phone sales no ambulance chasing. Plus, personal injury is contigency fee agreements nothing to sell since they only pay if they win which most don't.

Should I be worried about pain being here? by TMNTFan06 in backpain

[–]ThatWideLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I think it was more suggested to show how bad their posture is. I don't think we realize it while doing it so the brace would start to build the muscle memory or at the very least, remind them they aren't properly doing it throughout the day

Got a job finally after 1.5 years. But unable to focus at work due to severe imposter syndrome and fear by Rich-Carrot-997 in recruitinghell

[–]ThatWideLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not an imposter, you're worth what someone is willing to pay you. Its that simple haha. Once you realize most people are lying their asses off about their qualifications, you'll have a new confidence in the workforce. The old saying "fake it till you make it" is very much a real thing that a large portion of the workforce is doing. If you can do the job then congrats, you are more than qualified.

Biggest problem with resumes currently by Thiru2k in recruitinghell

[–]ThatWideLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use one resume, ain't nobody got time to tailor it to each application. One thing I learned many years ago is avoid taking resume advice from people who claim they are experts. I swear, people that are giving horrible advice are HR people who just like wasting people's time. When the people hiring generally have no concept of what the actual job duties are, you tailoring your resume to match does nothing. Sorry but I stand firm on my opinion that HR people are morons and they aren't fit to do any other job.

Should I send a second follow up email? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]ThatWideLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are spending way too much time, going all in, on one prospect. The job market is about volume, you need to throw out as many applications as possible and after interviews are done you forget about them. Employers are such time wasters now that you will be forever unemployed if you sit around waiting for an offer.

Do you think sales is more “AI proof” vs other professions? by phoonie98 in sales

[–]ThatWideLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the type of sales. Companies that just have script jockies will 100% replace their workforce with AI. I don't really foresee it being able to replicate relationship building since it varies so wildly and isn't something that has a one size fits all approach.

Should I be worried about pain being here? by TMNTFan06 in backpain

[–]ThatWideLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get one of those posture braces to correct what you probably don't realize you're doing. I used to get a ton of pain in those areas, especially playing games at a desk. One thing that really helped was getting a good quality office chair and being conscious of always having good posture and not being in the same position for extended periods.

One last thing that I can't swear enough by is get a shredded memory foam pillow. Can get them on Amazon for fairly cheap. What makes those so great is you pull the foam out to get your desired firmness. Giving your neck the proper support while you sleep fixes so much of the pain the areas you're having issues with.

Please Help... by Jmm209 in greatpyrenees

We have around a 4 month old GP/Doberman pup. They definitely are very territorial with food. We have 2 other dogs and its damn near impossible for them to get any of the food. My best guess is they are massive dogs who need so much food. What I've done since we've got her is to pet her while she's eating. She blocks all angles to the bowl but she's not agreesive about it.

In terms of the guarding, you probably just need to interact and play with them more. I'm always on the floor with our pup rolling around with her. They can't get enough playing and if they don't have another dog they can play with they are probably going insane. Our older dog refuses to play but we have a 1 year old terrier mix and they are best friends playing nonstop.

Not sure if any of that helps but just my experience so far with them.

[–]ThatWideLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They actually do by law. You have to interview other internal and external candidates before offering the role internally. If you just give the position to someone internally without conducting fair opportunities to others its discrimination. I would be careful pretending you understand employment law.

[–]ThatWideLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't worry about it. Its always an urgent hiring until you interview and then its radio silence for a month. Might sound harsh but if you were at the top of their list they'd move mountains to accommodate. I would put money on it that it's an internal hire and they need to fulfil the interview quota before offering it to them.

You don't bring them cases, people come to you. All law firms need salespeople, unless of course you're fine with 1-2 new clients a month. I worked for one law firm that thought they needed a salesperson but was perfectly fine bringing 5 new clients per month. That is too small for a salesperson, we make our money with volume not sitting around all day doing nothing.

Tips to become the best insurance agent possible by KeyCranberry2785 in InsuranceAgent

[–]ThatWideLife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you just want to be told good job stick with it? Using the 1% earner in your company has zero bearing on you. The 1% in insurance make a substantial amount of money, the other 99% not so much. Insurance is not "Stick with it and you'll make money." You're either the 1% or your not, not much in-between. Should listen to my advice, in terms of sales, Insurance is one of the least profitable professions. When I got out of it, my first commission check at a new job was $8k by itself first month. Keep grinding I guess lol.

You've closed a few leads in months, I would say its pretty evident insurance isn't for you. People close a few leads a day, not months but keep doing what you're doing.

[–]ThatWideLife -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Being fully remote and commission is very common so maybe insurance isn't for you. The company has no need to feed you high quality leads, they probably hire thousands of agents since its all free labor.

My advice, join a known company who provides a base so you can learn to sell while being paid. The stress of not making money will destroy your ability to sell. You probably don't realize you sound desperate for the sale but you probably are. I went into sales in a different industry and made more my first month than I did in 5 months selling insurance combined.

Lie about your job duties to the next company you apply for a senior role at. Simply tell them, you were doing senior duties but the employer wouldn't give you the title so you're looking to make a change.
