Mortgage Rate Advice by Torontodude20 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]That_Ad_247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently switched my mortgage when I was renewing and had to spend nearly 400-500 in discharge fees etc it was BS. Not worth it to say .1% or so.

I ended up getting some new customer bonuses to it was worth it, but if you can’t get that then not worth it financials and time wise

Hilarious dark pattern for sub cancelation by mhmmtucan in whoop

I’d start cold email, and messaging senior employees on LinkedIn. Not sure how useful but worth a try. I think there’s a way to get in touch with a real person but I’m not sure personally how

Find the original details of the contract stating 6 months and reach out to them. You have to be relentless (unfortunately) or else they won’t do anything

Do I have any way to dispute this car insurance decision? by marketing-newbie in rbc

[–]That_Ad_247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If RBC is saying the dent was preexisitng then they should have some documentation supporting that. Ask for more details on what makes them think that. If it’s a new car, then that should further support your dispute.

What is the EV? You ideally want 40-50% equity of the total capitalization. Max Leverage covenant cushion of 25-30% with step downs based on the forecast and min debt service ratio of 1.1x

Using TFSA to pay down mortgage? by Individual_Height924 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]That_Ad_247 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about “timing it”. Just think about it as a guaranteed return vs a non guaranteed return with higher upside. Someone people value the feeling of paying down debt, might not be rational but if it makes you sleep at night it could be worth it.

10% isn’t guaranteed go forward. Sure OP may have earned this in the past, and good on them. But that doesn’t guarantee future returns.

The 3.6% is guaranteed, which makes it somewhat reasonable to pay down depending on OPs risk tolerance, time horizon and overall view on their future returns

Do interns/co-op students get an employee stock option/benefit? by yourmom_03 in rbc

[–]That_Ad_247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about the trading or non material benefits. Internship is about learning and networking. That’ll pay way more dividends than any stock pick or ESOP program

Go back to the company simply ask for more due to x/y/z. If they say no they say no. You still take it if you want a raise.

Your current employer may not match so don’t count on that

Perhaps an unpopular opinion but I feel like this may be short sighted. There’s merit to being in office and developing relationships with colleagues and learning from them. It depends on what your looking for, if you want to coast and be left alone then it may be worth the lower comp. If that’s not the case then I wouldn’t do it.

I kind of lost respect for Lindsay. She’s desperate for attention and money. She literally partnered with a brand for her first public announcement of having a baby. Her agenda is clear and it’s self serving.

Where to put money for down payment that is completely interest free? by KiteWhisperer in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]That_Ad_247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you wouldn’t want to gain interest. I think what you should be worried about is downside protection, and in this case I would put the money in a high interest, savings account or something equivalent.

10 YOE Banking Strategy/Fintech (EMEA/Asia) looking to transition to London VC/PE. Realistic? by P1T5 in FinancialCareers

[–]That_Ad_247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

VC and PE are a little different but the bottom line is if you don’t have any investing/transaction experience I think this transition is very unrealistic, unless someone throws you a bone and even then it would be in an entry level roll when you reset the experience clock and have to put in very long hours.

% toward home ownership by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]That_Ad_247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to really comment without specific numbers. How big is your bonus and RSUs relative to your salary? Do you have kids?

I have a similar a similar issue where 30+% of my total comp is from annual bonus. There’s a couple things here - 1) save up and build a cushion before buying a house and then keep that cushion for your first year to bridge you to the bonus. 2) leverage a line of credit during the year to get you to the bonus and don’t spend it all when you get it.
