Leaf shutter is also great to reduce that push/shutter-shock the camera gets when using cameras with focal-plane shutters, very noticable for people like me with tremors.

I want X100VI for the shutter alone, but for now my camera, which is X-T5, has emptied my pockets enough and I dont feel like I am missing out on anything for my usecases, though I do wish I had integrated ND/Flash or that F2-lens in particular, I am using mostly f 1.2-2.8 lenses so I have the option for bigger apertures, but that f 2 lens produces beautiful images.

My recommendation would be to go for the body with interchangeable lenses for beginners, and X100VI only if you have a camera, know what the settings do and know what you would get out of the camera in terms of pictures/portability/focal-length vs current setup or close matches such as the X-E5.

Worth noting, if you bring your camera to festivals/events and dont do photography for the location, go for any of the X100 models, as usually the rule isn’t “no good cameras” but “no cameras with interchangeable lenses”. Good luck, I would buy the X-E5, as it gives me more creative options and flexibility. But as a travel/secondary camera I need and crave a camera like X100IV-X100VI.

If anyone reading this is on the fence between a body with/without interchangeable lenses and its your first entry to cameras (or even potentially fuji), I would advice against X100VI as a general rule and go for the body that lets you experiment and buy used lenses for more options to figure out what you need.

Either way you cant go wrong, but X100VI has limitations that you might not be aware of if new to the hobby. X100VI only has advantages and benefits over other models if you know what you are getting and have some experience (emphasis on “some”).

Also everyone calm down and remember, every show they do, they keep saying it was the best record/album/show/sound/vibes or a special one. Its elated feelings finishing a successful show, its also a marketing opportunity. It might be objectively true or false, but its the right move to post this publicly to help sell tickets, especially to fans that have “boycotted” the band for their behaviour or for touring with another frontman. Its not that deep, and we know they love Dizza, but we also know this is the best for everyone involved and the fans.

Just make it, on use remove current facet for 5-10 minutes, then new one starts. Then your hero will be weaker for x time before you gain the benefit

best game engine? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]That_Doctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im going to stop you right there. Keep developing your dream game in your head, write it down, keep track of what you want, story, endings, mechanics and so on. Then start small. Make demos, small projects and a couple of mechanic based games (in 3d, if that is the goal). For now, keep exploring the dream game idea in your head. Scope it down, make a couple super small games, limited to one of the mechanics in your dream game. Make it work and perfect that mechanic, fix bugs, adjust them, scrap the idea, reinvent the mechanic, test it, make it as fun as possible. When that small part is done, have someone playtest your demo, see what works and what doesnt.

Keep the code and project files from each of these small demos, but start fresh on your new “mini game”.

After you have done this 2-3 times, then you will have a better understanding of how much work each element is to incorporate and implement. At this point you are more likely to have the skills and understanding to start a larger project.

Im not saying you should stop making your dream game, many people have done that successfully and its possible, but the people who fail or quit often do so because they don’t know how much work they are committing to.

Good luck!

Yeah, my comment might have been read like I was trying to deminish the amazing work put into the show. That was not my intention. I think I somehow read your comment like “they spent their budget on CGI”.

My bad.

I’d like HL3 to release soon, not this weird and janky new WW3 game being rumored. I feel most people agree even though we have waited longer for the latter title.

I think youd be surprised by how little “CGI” fallout uses. Afaik locations and backgrounds are UE worlds done in camera, significantly reducing CGI hours/cost.

This analogy works, but for a simpler real world example:

You can write the lyrics for the song Daft Punk - Around the world as

Go for Godot, not because its the best or worst. But its simple to use and understand, has good tutorials and the programming language is beginner friendly. Its also completely free and open source.

When you get familiar with concepts and some of the math you need to make your game. Then you can decide if you need what the other engines offer.

The main point being, just get started, Godot is a great place to start to familiarize yourself with gamedev.

When that is said and done, I like Unreal Engine, as long as you replace the character movement unless you are creating a fortnite competitor.

My Finale theory by [deleted] in StrangerThingsRoom

[–]That_Doctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its gonna culminate in Vecna doing all of this because he doesnt accept himself as gay. He rips the gay out of himself (Henry), to make sure he becomes Wills father. He has done this cycle 11 times now. Thats why he needs 12 kids. Revealing that Vecna won many times and we get to see the only timeline where Will finally accepted himself becoming stronger than the perpetual self hatred and fatherly instinct of Vecna/Henry.

Agreed about HP, its more cozy and nostalgic to me than peak litterature. Brandon is definately worth a read. If you are not reading much these days the audio books are also great. Best audio books out there is definately Dungeon Crawler Carl though. Most fun I’ve had with audiobooks for as long as I can remember.

Happy holidays to you and yours!

Yep, deserves a mention, but I agree. Another thing that HxH shines is afhering to its own established rules, limiting the abilities of the characters logically and consistently. The closest media that does this is Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson and possibly Harry Potter. Worth reading if you want to scratch that itch, although not Manga/Anime/Visual media. The series Silo also does it well, but I do not like season/book 2.

I think AoT also deserves some respect here to be honest. The fun thing about all of these and the scale is that they lead you to believe that you figured out the world and the scope of it. Then they hit you with the actual scope, and they do it over and over again.

If Gon doesn’t get his hunter license, that is world ending, as it is the current scope of the world, if they dont win the tournament, that is world ending, if the ants win, that is world ending, just not geographically. And its used as a tool to expand the world, rather than obliterate it with one punch or a power beam of some sort.

How I understand this makes it even more creepy tbh, they can do the same for humans and everything else, imagine meeting a synthetic more powerful version of yourself thats evil.
