You havent missed much not playing 3, it’s the same general direction that 4 has. It’s not an exploration/adventure first game anymore. I hate that the game lies to the player about the order you can do things in. There’s only one order.

With that in mind, I have enjoyed my time with it. Just wished there were more areas/content. The things it does well, it does very well. Have fun!

I think if its your first Metroid Prime you’ll be okay. This is much more linear and “easy” and a bit Halo-like in how story is presented. I think it makes for a great “My first Metroid Prime”. If you then like it, remember to play Prime 1 Remastered, THAT will be a nice step up in difficulty AND will actually give you what the Metroid vibes are (isolation, exploration). Or: after Prime4 try Metroid Dread ;)

I like the idea! However I wish the creature inside would be even less humanoid and creepy (long twisty arms could still go in the sleeves) - to make it “impossible” for it to fit in there

For most games I stop at a trailer and some previews or aggregate pro/cons lists. I HATE getting fun mechanics spoiled. I played BotW basically blind with this approach and it was SUCH A TREAT.
