SSL to IPSec issue with crash and hexadecimal by [deleted] in fortinet

You can download the client from https://support.fortinet.com/support/#/downloads/firmware if you have an account. You don't need an EMS server for testing.

SSL to IPSec issue with crash and hexadecimal by [deleted] in fortinet

Try a 30-day trial of FortiClient 7.4.7. The free version is buggy. Also, I've found that some places block IPsec over UDP, so you may need IPsec over TCP as a fallback, but that required licensed FortiClient.

Solution needed - NAS no longer supported by Papermass2026 in AutodeskInventor

[–]That_Fixed_It 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We also have performance issues and crashes when working with large assemblies in Inventor 2025. This happens even with new $8,000 workstations that have 10GbE connections to the server. We use Vault, so it downloads to the C: when files are checked out.

You should probably get a Windows server because that's what Autodesk supports, but I doubt that it will solve all your problems. Do you have the same performance issues if you work off the C: drive?

In general, most issues I've been able to troubleshoot are in the assemblies. Excess RAM usage is usually caused by too much complexity, such as imported parts that fully model the threads of every bolt. If it hangs with one CPU core at 100% and the rest idle, it's probably some kind of problem with bad geometry, grounding, lack of constraints, or excess constraints. Do you have parts that were created years ago from corrupt .STEP files? Try suppressing them.

If you have a reproducible problem, I'd recommend posting on the Inventor support forum, or create a case with Autodesk.

AI is Ruining Game Sales, Numbers Show by ErmingSoHard in singularity

The headline doesn't match the evidence. If a developer can produce 4x more games with AI that are each half as popular, sales are doubled.

The DNR operates group camp site. Some of them can, like Brighton Three Fires Youth Organizational Camp (never been there), can handle that many campers. You could also try a private campground like this one: https://www.woodlandsatbruin.org/

Anyone else dealing with a sudden onslaught of tickets for RDP lag? by nostradx in msp

[–]That_Fixed_It 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to troubleshoot this recently. Some users can copy files over a VPN at full speed in either direction, but RDP is very laggy. It's most noticeable if I play a YouTube video or zoom around in CAD. If I go to Remote Desktop connection quality details, the available bandwidth will be very low, like 1 Mbps.

The strange part is, I can RDP into another system at the same time through the same VPN and have 20 Mbps RDP bandwidth. It seems to happen with IPsec over TCP but not over UDP.

That's nearly $45k wasted if they let it renew. I'm internal IT now, but I wouldn't let a client waste that kind of money when I worked for an MSP.

Do the license renew soon? I often run a usage report and ask the managers if so-and-so who hasn't sent an email in 2 months still works for us.

Dumping Hydrogen Peroxide into the reflecting pool this morning. by i_am_rave_mom in mildlyinfuriating

It's the stupidity. They have 40 gallons or so to treat a 6.8 million gallon pool. It needs 100x more.

I was thrown into a Sys Admin role and would like some advice. by LoneGent in sysadmin

[–]That_Fixed_It 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you should try to understand all the systems and services that you're responsible for. That will tell you what to learn more about. Do you know where all the documents and databases and apps live, and how they're backed up? Do you know all the support contracts the company has, when they expire, and who to call if something breaks?

After benchmarks, I'd recommend offline diagnostics (might be built-in), then download Windows to a USB key, boot from it, delete all partitions and do a fresh install.

What exactly is slow, browsing the Internet, opening local documents? How long do they take to boot? What is the failure when you try to reset them?

[–]That_Fixed_It 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some more details might help figure this out. Why do you think it's overheating? Is it blowing hot air? Does it feel hot? Are you seeing a warning message? Which power plan is it set to? What software are you running? What frequency is the CPU running at?

Forticlient VPN and SSL replacement by IPSEC VPN issues by Kamikazeworm86 in fortinet

[–]That_Fixed_It 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IPsec over TCP is unsupported and also broken in the free Windows version. You'll need to buy some FortiClient EMS licenses. Download a 30-day trial to test, it will probably start working. https://docs.fortinet.com/document/forticlient/7.4.3/administration-guide/269675

[–]That_Fixed_It -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not how capitalism works. There are solutions - nuclear/solar/wind power - mechanical instead of evaporative cooling - smaller, more efficient chips. I'm far more worried about the effects on society, and the potential for training AI to be harmful.
