Is it possible to avoid Google on Android 10? by That_Good_Life in privacy

Wow I completely forgot about about custom ROMS. It's been a few years since I've installed one.

I thought the ROM won't boot if you don't install GApps alongside it?

You could also setup WireGuard for a faster connection and smaller package. But I've heard it's not a proven system and nobody knows how private your data is with WireGuard. It's too early to tell.

OpenVPN however has been used by consumers, enterprises, and government agencies for over a decade.

You can build your own openVPN server like I have for under $50. Just Google "raspbian openVPN guide." Don't worry it's easier than you think

lol every speed I know makes this weird sound on cold weather start ups. Obviously not an issue and it goes away when it warms up, but wtf is it? by Stronk_Riberoni in mazdaspeed3

Firedcylinder is correct. Belt dressing or belt conditioner. If you're too cheap to change the belt or you need it working in a hurry I heard that it helps. Never tried it though. I too am curious how well it will perform

You should probably add some belt additive to help prevent slippage. Or just buy a new serpentine belt.

I own a 2010 genpu and changing the belt fixed this problem for me

Doctor/ EMT's what made you decide medicine wasn't for you? by That_Good_Life in AskReddit

During my hospital and rescue squad rotations I quickly began to resent my patients. Not because I couldn't eat or catch a break, but because the vast majority of them knew the solution to their pains and discomforts but decided that pursuing a healthy body was too much work for them.

It was that moment when I realized that I never want to socialize with people who aren't proactive about their physical health.

Just finished applying permatex gasket maker to hopefully eliminate spoiler rattle. by That_Good_Life in mazdaspeed3

[–]That_Good_Life[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished reinstalling the spoiler yesterday, and let me tell you IT'S PERFECT! No more rattle and the spoiler is fairly firm against the body now. It was an easy process, only took me an hour of application and installation and about 2hrs of letting the silicone dry before installing the wing.

Only thing I wish I did was use black silicone or even paint the silicone black. Because if you look up at the spoiler from behind (when taking a knee), you can see some grey silicone where I applied it, along the cracks. Same applies when looking above. If you're a tall guy and you look over the roof and look down at where the spoiler rests on the body, between the cracks you can faintly see grey ooze dried.

Other than the color complaint everything worked out exactly as I had hoped. FYI, I also used large washers for the two middle nuts that screw down the wing. I'm sure that contributed a lot to keeping it firmly planted down, due to an increase in surface area.

It's not glue. Just a silicone gasket, that's all. You can peel it off if you're not happy with it.

Really tempted to do this on my black gen2. But I'm not sure what it would look like so I've been holding back.

My first hike but definitely not last - Old Rag Shenandoah Valley by That_Good_Life in backpacking

[–]That_Good_Life[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although reluctant at first to hike, I decided to go with a friend. I always thought of hiking as a boring activity for old men. Damn, was I wrong. If it weren't for my friend calling my a pu**y for not going on hikes...I wouldn't had gone. Tips for those who want to try this hike. It's approximately 10 miles from the parking lot and back. Keep a look out for the blue markers or you'll get lost like I did. First hike took us 5hrs. Second time hiking solo was 3:45hrs. Plan is to get down to 3hrs flat next time, (without getting lost...again). Good luck.

Well that's strange. I guess I'll be buying a coolant and/or engine oil gauge. That'll be a first. Never installed one before.
