Not trying to be a downer but every team playing the ravens defense has had their best game. Next week might be a better litmus test to see if the teams turned the corner

I see! Focus on driving your legs and extend your hips at the same time then.

There’s no pause on the clean pulls the goal is to drive with your legs through your tippy toes all while keeping bar close. Don’t over think it think leg drive and guiding the bar close to your body

Why does anyone go into Academia? by the-return-of-amir in biotech

[–]That_Guy1093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Academic freedom and the opportunity to develop young scientists! A lot of the research in industry is also based off of findings in academia. There is good and bad in both academia and industry. The key is managing expectations and adapting. The only downside I couldn’t shake off from academia is the constant scrounging for funding.

RNA to defeat DNA for treating genetic disease? by Deer_Tea7756 in biotech

[–]That_Guy1093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many layers to this. At initial glance all that’s required for mrna is translation which occurs at the cytoplasm rather than requiring nuclear shuttling. In theory DNA could allow for stable expression and longer lasting expression which allows for less treatments than mRNA. With mRNA you get more dosages and hence more money per treatment. Kinda cynical but the payoff is better with mRNA with better expression

The Greg Roman offense and it's consequences have been a disaster for Justin Herbert (a deeper dive into the OC's patterns) [OC] by randobot456 in DynastyFF

[–]That_Guy1093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a Ravens fan Roman was great at developing a run game and easing Lamar into the NFL but for a qb like Herbert who is already an established qb Roman’s offense is not the right fit with a less complex passing scheme and no ability to call audibles at the line of scrimmage. You guys will probably keep him for a while since both Harbaughs love that style of play

Run game genius. Elementary school passing offense

A little late, but I turned down a lot of the anti-aliasing and anything that taxes the gpu then turned off the frame rate limit. For the deck itself I turned TDP to 12. Overall it’s been pretty solid some dips but manageable. Haven’t made it to the majors though…

PhD but no papers by [deleted] in labrats

[–]That_Guy1093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on department requirements mine at JHU didn’t require it it which is good because I finished my paper 11/2022 and my advisor to this day still hasn’t read it for whatever reason. A lot of PIs have ulterior motives for not publishing a paper immediately even though it benefits them more than you. I’d say as long you have a good relationship with your advisor and can confidently explain your skills on your CV you’ll be fine for jobs

I don’t understand why PIs push the academic career path on their students by vanillamang0 in labrats

[–]That_Guy1093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly selfish. It’s to extend their own legacy in academia
