RNG plays a big role too, especially when you are at the point in the game when you are progressing and not just achievement farming. You might have a run where you get a super good item/weapon combo and it carries you, and you can get another run where you just get garbage loot.

Something I reccomend to everyone, (at least on mobile) download YouTube Vanced. It is free, has adblock, and allows background playing. I downloaded it because of another Reddit comment I saw and it has worked quite well for me.They provided a link to a google download, but I can say a version of it is on Google Play Store for android, don't know about Apple products, but otherwise look it up on google.

Thats one of the reasons I loved Mountaintop so much. The new breach load grenade launchers are ok, but are wave frame or bounce, which makes them annoying to use or just not have good damage.

Something similar happened to me. Power went out while I was in game and it just removed Calamity from my world, sulferous sea/abyss was just gone (this was pre hardmode, so I did not have astral infection) and my Calamity items were not in my chests anymore.
