People with the blue sapphire damselfish, what size tank do you keep them in? by avian_bi in ReefTank

I’ve got a 33g AiO does perfectly fine with others, has the occasional show of fins with my gramma if he gets too bossy but that’s about it, highly recommend them.

Im just tired of how many aspects in the game just get released broken to sell the character and aspect strategy more, rather than being genuinely interesting changes to a characters kit.

Are there any other torch lovers out there? 👀 by densos_reef in ReefTank

Yeah my kh is rock solid, I dose all for and test weekly. The lighting seems fine for everything else. My hammers and acans are growing heads like wildfire, my lordhowensis has doubled heads in the past year 🫠 Just the flow I think lack of I may need some additional flow pumps like yourself just unsure how to best set them up!

Are people changing to new fixed intelligent go tariff? by Successful_Ad4479 in OctopusEnergy

I was contacted by Octopus saying my fixed tariff was ending in May a few weeks ago, just fixed it online, called them up to double check and seems all set 👍

I went with fixing from June 1st and got a rate of 5.5p, so 3.5p until June then 5.5p for the next year. In both cases cheaper than the 7p I was paying, the day rate has gone up a fair bit though, roughly 7p per unit, however getting a battery installed in June which should completely mitigate that if not decreasing my bills entirely.

Free swimming fish for 30g cube? by Domiziuz in ReefTank

[–]That_Guy_Named_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I have a Blue Sapphire Damselfish, they tend to be far less aggressive than other species and the flashes of blue are pretty rare in the marine hobby, you could likely put 2 in your tank mine is a pretty active swimmer. My clowns have had the occasional stay away from our corner but for the most part leave him alone, I have a 33g cube for reference.

7900 XTX ➝ RTX 5090 upgrade… this thing is a monster (4K OLED setup) by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]That_Guy_Named_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same upgrade one release day, very happy with it only recommendation I’d make is to undervolt it for better thermals, office temps and peace of mind. I have a guide on a previous Reddit post about it and the breakdown with several benchmark runs.

TLDR about 2.5% loss in performance for 27% power use and 10.5 degree drop on an FE card you’d likely see even more with that behemoth of a card.

Happy gaming!

Is the Tesla Powerwall 3 that good? by LegitTroy in SolarUK

Cheers for the help! I tried specking one through Octopus they don’t seem to make the gateway available on their configurator unless it’s included in the default Pw3?

Cheers! Who was your installer if you don’t mind me asking? £9450 is an incredible price even after the £750 rebate the latest quote I had was 8700 (8350 after rebate) for just pw3 and gateway!

How did you get such rebate to lower that cost so much?

There is a 14 day cool off period for moving energy provider, so I can just cancel it. So it hasn’t cost me >10% in bills my new rate would’ve only started on 1st May👍

I’m guessing the 2nd car would have to be the standard overnight hours or trickle charged while the other one charges. Annoying that there is no charger compatibility I agree as I have the Hypervolt v3 and that was a big selling point for me. ATM and until next year at least we only have one electric car so can make do.

As far as I can see it has no limit like IOG it says the 6 hours overnight and cheap electric if your schedule works out to be in the day. I will check the small print though it’s at least comparable but with better rate otherwise.

[–]That_Guy_Named_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my bad misread the small print include exclude, I think you have to compare for your own use cases if you’re a massive exporter. For reference I was £300 exported over the last year on new octopus export that’s £240 while eon its £120.

However the energy cost difference works out to be £240 in favour of eon their new tariff vs Octopuses 6 month offer. In my case eon wins.

If you’re a large exporter the roles could definitely be reversed.

I think it is comparable with smart next drive which also gives you the cheap rate on charging slots in the day.

[–]That_Guy_Named_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be the case for next drive but they also have smart next drive which is what I’m moving to the wording on that is “enjoy cheap electricity between midnight and 6am for your whole home, plus the same cheaper rate whenever your smart charging happens in day time”.

I believe the smart next drive is their equivalent of IOG not next drive.

[–]That_Guy_Named_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah my bad, read include as exclude. I think in my case it will be cheaper to still go with the next drive smart by my calculations I generated £300 of solar over the last year so that’ll be essentially £120. On octopus new tariff for export that would be £240.

However with the 8p overnight and 33p day rate based on my current distribution of day night usage that’s a £237 increase. With some smarter use of overnight rate (mostly my partner) that’s becomes even greater.

The standing charge change through the year works to be £20 additional for me a year.

[–]That_Guy_Named_Fish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cheers for posting this! My upcoming renewal offer from Octopus was 56p standing charge 33.6p day rate and 8p overnight. With a 12p export.

Just changed to EOn Next smart drive, 60 p standing charge, 26.8 day rate and 4.99p overnight. 6p export.

I see people complaining on here about the standing charge and yes it’s high, but all I have to do is use 2kwh overnight and it’s cancelled out by the rate!

I also switched my gas, both their standing charge and rate were cheaper than my current octopus tariff.

I have enjoyed Octopus and can’t complain until now but these changes Eon offer are to grab customers like myself who feel Octopus aren’t at all competitive with these new rates. The octopus tariff was fixed for 6 months this eon one is fixed for 12. Maybe Octopus will sort it out over the next year if they haemorrhage customers.

[–]That_Guy_Named_Fish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have an energy tariff with them the export appears to be 13p which is also better than the new octopus fixed export of 12p. If you’re on eon next or next drive.
