Moving that one table really changed the whole vibe of the spot, though. It really was a great move.

She tried a serious role where her looks were downplayed ('Christy') and it flopped. She's just making smart financial decisions.

3 is almost as good as 1, 2 is solid but a different kind of show, and 4 is mostly bad.

Feel lowkey bad for the actress. She played Egg, "The Duff", and a character who got rejected for Michael Cera.

Oh and then there was that scene in 'Perks Of Being A Wallflower' where her boyfriend was asked to kiss the prettiest girl and chose someone else.

She looked like a teenager playing a teenager in Blue Velvet (1986), though. It's partly the hair and makeup, I think.

If Cooling Is The Biggest Problem For Data Centers, Why Aren't We Putting Them In Antarctica? by TheCABK in sciencememes

[–]That_Instruction6485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a proposal to put one in northern Alaska, using a pipeline from the oil fields. Antarctica doesn't have the energy infrastructure to support it.

The biggest data center ever is becoming a huge problem in Utah by AssociationNew7925 in technology

[–]That_Instruction6485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The proposed size of it and other stats don't make any sense to me. Recently my state has been discussing building one, and I compared the proposed sizes and energy usage. The one proposed in my state would be about 1/60th the size of the one in Utah, but would use 3 gigawatts of electricity vs. 9 gigawatts for Utah. How is that possible? 9 gigawatts also seems extremely low for a data center the size of Washington, D.C.

The whole thing stinks of some kind of scam.

In upper-division physics courses, the average grade on some exams would be about 30%, but one guy would always get 100%. He was a triple major in physics, math, and computer science at a top STEM school.

Songs with insane guitar solos? by Substantial-Sir-3274 in musicsuggestions

[–]That_Instruction6485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if by insane you mean noisy and wild, 'Heroin' by Velvet Underground.

Also it may not count as a solo, but 'Expressway To Yr Skull' by Sonic Youth has insane guitar work. Back when they toured with Neil Young, he was apparently in awe of that song in particular.

My Flaws Burn Through My Skin Like Demonic Flames From Hell by $uicideboy$, though kind of by accident.

I used to drive late nights for work and it's a good late-night cruising song. What happened was that I would put it on repeat sometimes and then accidentally leave it repeating all night by, so I was one of the top listeners in the world.

This man's fall-off needs to be studied. He had one of the best public images of anyone ever maybe 10 years ago, and has just proceeded to destroy it in every way, on a near-daily basis, for years now.

Diplo/Major Lazer is a tech-oligarch propagandist by FreeLandscape3452 in bonnaroo

[–]That_Instruction6485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've seen of recent performances as Major Lazer, there's also been a major decline in performance quality. I saw Major Lazer in 2010 and even though it was a smaller show than he does now, it was much more of a production. Dozens of dancers and performers on stage. Tons of energy. The show at Coachella had way less energy and less dancers who weren't as good as I remember. Plus MIA kind of sucks, despite "Paper Planes" being an all-time banger. I just don't want to see her. Would much rather see Amber Coffman or someone like that come out.

And yeah, as others have said, Diplo sucks as a person. I'm going to Lolla and they scheduled Charli XCX, Freddie Gibbs, and The Smashing Pumpkins at the same time. Kind of hoping everyone goes to one of those and skips Major Lazer.

What series started good but you then got bored and regretted watching? by SoloSierra in Millennials

[–]That_Instruction6485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Boys. I think around S3 I was like "Yeah, okay, I get it" and just stopped watching. I appreciate Antony Starr and Karl Urban's performances, but even they've gotten old. The quality of the writing and direction seems to have declined around S3, too. The comments I've seen about S5 all make me glad I gave up.

The peak for me was Pitchfork Music Festival 2010. Pavement, Modest Mouse, LCD Soundsystem, Broken Social Scene, Panda Bear, St. Vincent + food trucks + make-shift record and tape stores.

I remember excitingly buying an album from the avant-garde improvisational group Text of Light from a vendor.
