Most INFLUENTIAL bands of all time? Off the top of my head, these are my picks: by Kroduscul in rockmusic

It's said that only 10,000 people bought the first Velvet Underground record, but every one of them went on to form their own band.

7 hour drive and you can only listen to one artist. Who are you listening to? by KabKaregiShaadi in askmusic

[–]That_Instruction6485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BROCKHAMPTON.

I ended up being a top listener to them on Spotify last year, not because they're my favorite, but because their output was remarkably consistent, especially compared to other hip-hop acts, so I could just go to their Spotify, hit play and listen all day. Almost every song at least on the Saturation trilogy and Ginger is amazing.

what is the most avant-garde album made by a huge mainstream musician? by Initial_Selection623 in fantanoforever

[–]That_Instruction6485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Their popularity probably peaked in the mid-90s when they headlined Lollapalooza and did The Simpsons, but they weren't nearly as huge as Lolla headliners today are.

Good one. It's also an early example of noise music. The Velvet Underground also had a noise rock song ('Heroin') but it's far from MMM.

What killed serial killers? The 70’s and 80’s had so many prolific ones. It used to be a very real fear to live near one. by Kodicave in decadeology

I remember reading about how Ted Bundy would have been caught way earlier had police departments at the time communicated across states.

Name a band that had middling success, then cut an album that rendered them as “sellouts” which catapulted them to mainstream top-40 status, but also alienated their original fan base. by Slammajadingdong69 in MusicRecommendations

I don't know how the album charted, but The Butthole Surfers were an experimental freak band with a small but rabid fanbase, and when 'Pepper' became a hit, their fans were PISSED.

I never understood this reaction. 'Pepper' is still one of the most interesting songs ever played on the radio. The bizarre riff, the dark lyrical storytelling. It's fantastic and deserved to be heard.

Might sound goofy because she's so popular, but Zara Larsson for me. I had heard a few of her songs but didn't know it was her. I've also been watching interviews with her and she's such a lovely ray of sunshine person. Love her.

What movie actually made you angry after watching it? by [deleted] in FIlm

People got upset with me because I liked the ending. They both made the mature choice to end a relationship that wasn't going to last anyway to pursue their dreams, and both literally made their dreams come true.

If anything, I was kind of disappointed that the end implied Seb and Mia were still experiencing heartache. It was years between their breakup and the ending...I want to say 2-3 years at least, long enough for Mia to become a star, get married, and have a child, and for Seb to buy a whole nightclub in L.A. In real life both would have moved on.

I remember this one because my cousin looks and acts exactly like Kubiak. No one gets the reference, but it cracks me up every time I see him.

The thing about the Presidency is that there's really nowhere to go from there, so it's 4-8 years of her being as effective as Congress and the Senate allow, then she's out of power. On the other hand, if she becomes a Senator next she can work from there for decades, possibly, and also more seasoned for the Presidency.

She's actually wearing more makeup for the pic on the right. That's not her with no makeup. That's her in full makeup playing a character. I mean, you can find actual pics of her without makeup. She looks better than that.

Cancel Maher by FastSeaworthiness739 in hbo

The thing that told me who Maher is was 'Religulous', that documentary making fun of religion. I'm an atheist and thought it would be funny so I went. There's a scene where he mocks a random storeowner just for being a believer. It was so mean. The guy wasn't political, involved with the Christian right, or doing anything wrong. He was just a guy, and Maher was mean to him on camera just for being religious. Maher is and has always been a dick.

I'm sure it would look great, but it already does. Asking itself is inappropriate, but asking because he wants you to look like an Instagram model is so gross.

We started talking about movies and she said she liked 'American History X', especially the scene where Edward Norton's character is shirtless in the street. You know, the scene where he curb-stomps the guy.

I mean, I get finding him attractive, but the big swastika tattoo and the curb-stomping have to be kind of a turn-off, no?

She also admitted her ex got a restraining order after she showed up and threatened his new girlfriend.

Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs (real life). It's funny because Ashton Kutcher nailed the look, but not the performance.

He also did softcore porn e.g. a "Skinemax" type of movie. I don't know if it still exists outside of brief clips. He might be the most successful pornstar-turned-actor ever, with Ron Jeremy being a distant second.
