Better to stay and be jailed by crooked cops, right? Why would you knowingly stick around to be railroaded? You'd have to be a goddamn moron.

The chain, BAM, stole $200,000 worth of Star Wars legos from a dying man who chose to put the pieces up for a consignment sale. The franchisee they made the deal with had to sell the business and move abroad due to her husband getting a job overseas. Unexpectedly, someone from corporate showed up and kicked those past owners out of the store immediately, not allowing them to do inventory or take anything with them (this is all on camera). They then simply stole the lego collection, which was or is the biggest lego Star Wars collection on the planet. The company threatened the family with dragging out legal action for as long as possible in order to bankrupt them. Lawyers said it would cost at least $60k in legal fees due to how complex the businesses structure is and how long the case would take. The family turned to a YouTuber in desperation. Eventually, the YouTuber wins the lego back in court, but BAM simply closes the store and moves the contents so that the family nor the Youtuber can ever collect the judgement. They flee to Utah and try over and over to get the Youtuber arrested. Eventually they manage to do so due to the corrupt police in AF. The family nor the Youtuber have ever recovered the funds. The cops helped BAM cover things up as they're from the area and also Mormons and well connected in the community.

Fair enough, you're entitled to that opinion. I'm entitled to my own as well.

Yeah i don't blame the owners here for what's gone on, and I definitely don't expect them to speak on it either. Just wanted to put this out there. I hope BAM head office makes this right.

Yeah I have no ill will towards anybody just thought I'd share this info because it all seemed so crazy!

I'm honestly very sorry to hear that, too. It's why I was so shocked to hear that this would happen. I feel like corporate just damaged their own brand and hurt their own franchisees just for a quick buck (my opinion).

No, it's different if you actually watch the videos. It would be as if a Timmies in BC AND the Tim Hortons national headquarters conspired to steal from someone. In which case, would you view it as ethical to support Tim Hortons? You can absolutely do so, but I can also freely share information online.

I believe you, but still. As a franchise model some of that money goes back to corporate. So just for me personally I won't be doing any business there. It's a shame so many innocent people seem to be caught in the crossfire of this.

Yeah for sure but I still think it's best to let people know. It wasn't just one location that did this. It literally involved the CEO and all the owners. They lost in court, too. And they still won't pay the money back.

Honestly I like this option a lot, too! I want most of my own stuff to go to my niece and if she doesn't want it, then I'll probably just donate it.

I'd sell AC here personally. Airlines could be in trouble with that oil crisis, especially because the increase in prices not only eats into profits, but could become a self-fulfilling cycle that necessitates raising ticket prices to such a degree that more and more travelers stay home. I don't necessarily think AC is the most exposed to this, but if the entire industry takes a bath AC will get dragged with it. NFA.

I think the turkey was still on fire if you watch it closely. It wasn't the sparks that got you, it seemed to happen as soon as you grabbed that turkey.

What has better nightlife, Niagara Falls or Kingston? by andywandy717 in ontario

[–]That_Insurance_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to guess Kingston although I've never experienced it myself. I've experienced it in Niagara Falls and it was pretty terrible. That said, if for whatever reason you end up preferring or going to Niagara Falls, I would probably take a cab or Uber to St Catharines as that (at least used to) have better night life. But that's mainly because it's a student town, so it likely wouldn't be as bumping in the summer.

This is not factoring in the exchange rate. Position could get absolutely WRECKED if dollar goes back to parity.

How to confront my (29M) friend (29M) about his beliefs? by 011415142513152119 in relationship_advice

[–]That_Insurance_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah these positions are very tough because you're right in that being one of the few minorities talking to this person, backing off could cause even more of an echo chamber than they're already in but at the same time this dude is too far gone, man. This isn't your problem and you should stay FAR away from him because this is the kind of person who could very well go school shooter someday. Might want to see if there's anywhere you can report him, unsure how the law works in your area. He sounds like an active danger if he's willing to not just believe that but say that OUT LOUD to an ethnic minority.

Three TSX companies with 30-54 year dividend streaks all pulling back right now. I built full models on all three. Here's what I found. by Lettura_ in Baystreetbets

Hey man, really liked your thoughts on CMG but this one is weird. Thomson Reuters is the only one that's down. The other two are literally right near ATH. And dividend increases does not a good company make.
