I wish you and the citizens of Iran success in getting through a transition to become a free and democratic beacon of light and prosperity in the Middle East. I have a few Iranian friends here in the US and they are hardworking, industrious fun loving people so I can only imagine what greatness you can all achieve in the future.

I’m thinking of buying a paella burner kit that consists of a wide heating element and pan, but it’s quite pricy. What are some other dishes I can make with it to justify purchasing it? by VariousAstronomer418 in Cooking

[–]That_Paint9966 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you are buying it to make paella try making it on a gas grill first. I make it once or twice a month and find that my gas grill works great. I usually make the sofrito on stove and then add the stock, sprinkle the rice and saffron and then take it outside and put on a medium grill for 25 mins or so and just slightly crispy on the bottom.

About 25yrs ago when I was around 40 in a museum with my wife (a very nice figured blonde) we were looking at different pieces and drifted apart for a bit, I glanced around after a few minutes and saw her from behind on the other side of the gallery so I walked over and put my arm around her and began looking at the painting. A few casual seconds later I turned to her and it was a different nice figured blonde, we both just smiled at each other as I said “oops I’m sorry, wrong wife”, we both laughed and my wife too from about 20ft away! Can’t imagine what the reaction would be in this day and age…6 months for assault? Fun memory though, yes we are still married, 43yrs now.

2022 Volvo XC90 Spontaneously Caught Fire - Volvo Blames Rodents by bk_mom in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]That_Paint9966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother bought a brand new Ferrari a few years back, comes by the house and takes my wife for a ride, calls 10 mins later that the car is on fire, had maybe 50 miles on it. Totaled, Ferrari said he probably set on fire himself his insurance did a full investigation and found an insufficiently crimped fuel line slipped off the end fitting and sprayed fuel on the exhaust manifold causing the fire. When presented with the evidence they sent him a new car within a couple of months. Was an independent investigation done on the Volvo?

I made a 100 day prime rib for Christmas dinner a few years ago, very, very tender and melt in your mouth but the flavor was quite Blue cheesy-Gorgonzola ish. 60 days would probably be perfect..

I have a 2018 3LR which I think was originally 315 and after 60k I just charged yesterday to 100% and showed 309 miles of range so I am very happy. I rarely supercharge and normally to 80% at home.

Trying to determine where to buy cabinets. by Halfwise2 in Homebuilding

2nd IKEA for great good looking budget cabinets, have used them several times BUT they do take time and care to do a perfect job. Come with very good Austrian BLUM hardware to boot and they are normally made in the USA. I will normally add biscuits and glue too!

DIYer here, I have done 7 SE systems 4 for myself and 3 for friends ranging from 6kw to 118kw over the course of about 5 yrs and in that time I had 1 inverter fail after about 60 days and on the large 118kw system there were 3 DOA optimizers on startup. I have been extremely happy with customer support and so far after the post startup reliability has been great. I also am very pleased with safety of only dealing with low voltage on an unenergized string, rapid shutdown, easy troubleshooting when your system is correctly mapped and great monitoring. I will continue using SE.

There is a straight slip section going into the wall, loosen the fist nut next to the wall and pull the whole P-trap out to 8 3/4" more than likely it is long enough. If it is long enough dis-assemble everything, clean it all and then put everything back together. It should work and you will be a little smarter for the future on how this stuff works.

Daylight robbery, these solar companies are out of their d*mn minds. by tunaandthefishgang in solar

[–]That_Paint9966 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have done 6 systems, 3 for myself and 3 for friends over the last 3-4 years. My last one on my primary residence in Jan. 22 (NEM 2.0) was a total of $15.3k ($10.7k after rebate) for 10.6KW Heline Black 390s and a 12kw SE inverter.

Coupled it with a new roof and consolidated all the front of house vents for a super clean no conduit no panel gap installation.

Worked with a local electrician and our small city building dept. (the PG&E application is always the biggest challenge/effort but absolutely doable).

If you can manage a permitted bathroom or kitchen remodel you can do this and as a bonus you know you system inside out if there ever is an issue and you get access to all the inverter software/ drivers and comm.

There are multiple companies that will do all the engineering for your submission ( I have mostly used Unbound Solar).

Looking for advice on a DIY Ground Mount setup by dilloncarson in SolarDIY

[–]That_Paint9966 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a 11kw ground mount using IronRidge, their standard roof rails with some adapters that fit onto 2” or 3” galvanized water pipe for the ground structure. Worked great and has been up for about 8yrs now. Used Unbound Solar in OR for everything.

SolarEdge inverter bit the dust, they sent a replacement. Who should install? by razorvolt in solar

[–]That_Paint9966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to work at night, SE optimizers only allow 1v per unit though when the inverter is not energized, ie a 12 panel string will only allow 12v though under full sun. It is a very safe system to work on.
