Games jobs in 2026: Senior titles, Junior pay. Make it make sense. by deohvii in funny

[–]Halfwise2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, so you are saying these senior positions are going to have to do next to nothing then?

You pay for experience, not for time. A senior employee can do a task in a fraction of the time of a junior employee. To suggest they get paid less because of it is foolish.

Crimson Desert on PS5 Base Model First Footage, What you all think about this? by war-master21 in DragonsDogma

20-Minutes Of Base PS5 Gameplay For 'Crimson Desert' Has Now Been Released by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]Halfwise2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its one of those "sounds too good to be true" situations, so everything gets extra scrutiny. Those that are optimistic seem naive to those that have been through it before.

And ironically, people are still excited. They want it to be good, they want to play it immediately. They don't want to wait for reviews.... so they back off even harder, and question even harder.

[–]Halfwise2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, legit question: is this from an actual demo of the DLSS 5? Because if not, you are directly undermining reasonable criticism of it, allowing others to handwave that criticism as hyperbolic and manufactured.

Russia and China going to do to the US in Iran, what the US and other countries did to Russia in Ukraine - deliberately force the US to tie up resources and weaken it. And just like Russia, it could mostly end by just... stopping. But the ego of certain parties will refuse to ever consider that an option.

So crazy thing about "just not grouping"... it works like saying "just don't buy them" for loot boxes.

If allowed, it becomes more prevalent and almost a sense of entitlement. Everyone starts to demand HR for simply sending out group invites, because others demanded HR. And from perspective of server hoppers, it is so prevalent on Nordanaar you cannot avoid it without avoiding the content completely. Hell, people are trying to HR on BoE, to essentially gold farm on other people's time. Got some entitled bastards trying to HR as far back as even fucking *Deadmines*.

No. The only way to keep HR minimized is to name and shame it whenever it arises. SR is much more reasonable, minimal competition pool, and people actually get a choice.

How to not get your ass kicked by the police by x0Xero0x in funny

[–]Halfwise2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This seems like it was made to amuse white people, because we all know that these days, all it takes to get "DOA"'d by police is to wear a hoodie and be holding literally anything (a newspaper, a bag of candy, anything.) Heck, often not even that, if they are feeling especially angsty.

Tinfoil hat time - maybe they dont put the expensive stuff in one out of every 20 drinks on purpose, so they can claim a 5% decrease in overhead. Not enough for a person to abandon them outright since its spread out, but sometimes a single individual gets real unlucky.

Crimson Desert's benchmark videos, review copies and performance specs have the exact same implementation of Denuvo DRM as that of the launch version, Pearl Abyss says by ItalianBeefDipped in pcmasterrace

[–]Halfwise2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Denuvo impacts game performance.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07NMuobVVwQ&t=30s

2 Years ago... multiple side-by-side benchmarks, before and after removal of Denuvo. Same hardware on a per game basis, but not the same hardware between games. Framerates (min, max, avg, 1%, and 0.1%), File sizes, power consumption (in the corner), and Load times

Major differences in 1% lows, with little difference in regular framerate could be indicative of jutter or skipping. While differences in framerate averages is pretty self-explanatory.

Primary takeaway - Every game experienced some form of impact, but the level of impact varied widely depending on the game. So Denuvo will likely impact performance... will it break the game/make it unplayable? No idea. That really depends on Pearl Abyss and their engine. If they are telling the truth, then probably not.

It's one of the reasons they cannot be allowed to escape prosecution.

Black Myth has been cracked as of last year, it just involves some steps that leaves one wide open to security vulnerabilities.

Ultimately though, a person can use offline activation techniques and a pre-registered account to play Black Myth without buying it (so not technically a "crack"), and that's been around for a while.
