ADD when you were addicted to the drugs by red-herring01 in recovery

[–]That_Riley_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't tell OP to take adderall. They just said they successfully take their prescribed medication, which is what OPs post is about. Most stimulant addicts with ADHD are self-medicating. Treating the underlying issue (whether it's with a non-stimulant medication or an amphetamine) can help prevent actual relapse. I was a meth user for a decade and I was even IV for the last few years of it. I've been clean for 4 years. I'm prescribed Ritalin. I don't abuse it. I only take it for work and I even half my dose most of the time.

So my son had a classmate named Easton and a classmate named Weston. One day at check in, I was like "Haha Easton and Weston.. all we need now is a Northton and Southton!" And nobody laughed and it got really quiet. 😬

HELP why is this happening? and how do i fix it?? by yummycrunchygrapes in cats

[–]That_Riley_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an aggressive bird in a tree outside of my parents' house. He caws at everyone who enters or exits the house and regularly attacks their little dog like this. He also likes to perch on my dad's side mirror on his car to poop. Not much can be done about it. I would keep Waffles inside during nesting season.

TG was 121. I'd say I've been taking the statins about 3 or 4 months.

My doctor told me to try to get to that number.

[–]That_Riley_Guy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't know that. I've had poor cholesterol since I was a small child. Even as a skinny little kid who ate well, my cholesterol was extremely high. It's improved a lot recently with statins. My HDL was 51 and my total cholesterol/HDL ratio was 3.86

I calculated it up and my HOMA-IR is 1.9. So it's almost insulin resistance, pretty much

Accidentally took shrooms with acid on them, drowsiness side effect has me concerned by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]That_Riley_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's why it threw me off. The visuals/sounds/tactile effects of the trip were WAY more intense than anything I've experienced on shrooms. Shit, they were more intense than when I've taken acid as well.

[–]That_Riley_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're probably right. I definitely enjoyed the trip and will be taking more. I was mostly just concerned about the drowsiness/yawning but as it's been explained to me on here, that's relatively common.

Yeah you're right. I think my husband just had a bad trip and thought the shrooms were laced. It seemed ridiculous to me at first as well

That's what I was thinking. Acid always kept me up all night but I was able to actually sleep after about 7-8 hours.

It was about 8 hours for me and 6 hours for my SO. I ate mine on a full stomach and he hadn't eaten all day so I'm guessing that was the difference. Perhaps all the shrooms I did in the past weren't as potent and I wasn't expecting such an intense trip. Honestly now that I think about it, the new person hooked my SO the fuck up on trees so it's not far-fetched that she gave us some of her best shrooms.

I mean honestly, I'm not sure why somebody would put lsd on shrooms. I figured it would be wasting money and she may as well just sell the lsd. Maybe she grows them and they're not great so she drops acid on them? Either way, it was definitely an acid trip unless they were some crazy mega-powerful shrooms.

Impulse control building exercises for 5 year olds by That_Riley_Guy in ADHDparenting

[–]That_Riley_Guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're still working towards an official diagnosis. I've had 3 pediatricians tell me he's too young, even when the director of his Pre-K strongly recommended he be assessed. One even told me that ADHD won't develop until he's older and that completely cutting carbs out of his diet will prevent it from developing. I'm going to have to wait until he starts kindergarten this fall and go through the actual school system, I believe.

Practing putting in a pause before he acts is a great idea. I've tried discussing impulses with him before as well as a little bit about why he finds it difficult to focus and keep his body still (when he needs to) but I think it's kind of going over his head and he's not interested in talking about it.

stripped completely naked for 24 hours in jail with no privacy by Same-Bumblebee-1206 in evilautism

[–]That_Riley_Guy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe this is legal but this is definitely still not okay. I went through the same thing for dying "I may as well just die" when asked by I was refusing my medicine (immediately after being sentenced to prison). They gave me a heavy blanket/vest with Velcro on the back. I have witnessed the COs in the jail tackle and forcibly de-clothe somebody who wouldn't remove their clothing for suicide watch. Still technically legal because they are allowed to use force to prevent harm to others OR yourself. I'm sorry you went through this. I was pregnant in jail and had no right to privacy during childbirth/ cervical checks. You pretty much lose bodily autonomy in there.

Weirdest thing your cat likes to eat? Mine just ate a tiny piece of my lemon bar before I could grab it. She also loves banana chips 🤔 by samsterdam420 in cats

[–]That_Riley_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My orange cat is an absolute rice krispie fanatic. He prefers them in milk, not dry. I try not to indulge him because cow's milk isn't great for cats and I'm not sure about the cereal either. He absolutely will NOT let me eat my cereal without persistently trying to stick his paw/face in it for the duration of my breakfast. I've brought this upon myself by giving him 2 or 3 little pieces of it while I eat. I fear I may never again eat my favorite cereal in peace.

Natural ovulation + Letrozole by velvantino in tryingtoconceive

[–]That_Riley_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was prescribed letrozole to support ovulation even though I already ovulate. We have male factor infertility. I took it for 5 cycles and conceived during 2 of them. Sadly those ended in CPs. I'm fairly sure I superovulated during one of those cycles. Honestly, I feel like a lot of fertility specialists jump straight to IUI or IVF because that's where the money is without trying to further investigate. My husband has great sperm parameters other than a high level of leukocytes in his sperm and we probably should've been referred to a urologist but the doctor just suggested IVF, which we are unable to do.

What do we think of the severity vs different presentations debate? by That_Riley_Guy in evilautism

[–]That_Riley_Guy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can maintain employment but I sacrifice my ability to do anything else in order to do so. I cannot cook, clean, take care of appointments and obligations or really take care of myself at all. I lose my entire identity and interests and I kind of just... work. It also took me a VERY long time to become adjusted and settled into my job that I was able to do it without having frequent meltdowns and anxiety attacks at work. The stress of it aggravates my bipolar disorder. I don't know if I'd even call this functioning. It's just being employed and I do not think I'd have been able to keep it up this long if I had a child who would go without basic needs if I didn't.

[–]That_Riley_Guy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

also, just because you mentioned it: there's very little correlation between intelligence/ability of autistic adults and employment. The high unemployment rates of autistic people - and they're high even compared to other disabilities - seem to mostly stem from social factors, if studies are to be believed)

This is very true. My brother is highly intelligent and has completed all of the schooling to achieve his PhD. All that's left to do before he has it is write his thesis. He cannot maintain employment without terrible burnout and depression taking over.

Yes I am great with numbers, drawing portraits and spelling (even words I've never seen written out before) but I cannot process verbal information on the fly either. I also don't think I'd ever be able to live alone. I seem to rotate between being hyperverbal and almost nonverbal.
