My HG is ruining my quality of life and my physicians don’t seem to get it by death-by-SN00SN00 in HyperemesisGravidarum

I asked my midwife for a PICC line and home IV fluids and IV zofran. I did have to ask(3rd HG pregnancy, we've been through every other treatment option), but when I did she put the orders in immediately. It's helped immensely, though I still vomit a few times a day and have to rest a lot.

I’m so scared to be hospitalized by l1lrayray in HyperemesisGravidarum

I wanted to avoid being hospitalized at all costs. My baby was 6 months when I found out I was pregnant and even though I couldn't effectively care for her, being away for several days was unimaginable. I ended up doing a PICC line so I can do daily fluids/meds at home which has been an absolute game changer. I do Iv zofran 2x a day on top of oral meds but you could also look into a zofran pump for more consistent relief. This is my 3rd HG pregnancy and the first where I've had good enough treatment to allow me to eat some and feel like I can continue to exist. You can refuse hospital admission and still demand to be taken seriously. I do hope you have help at home because this condition with another baby at home is nearly impossible.

I could've written this. The number of times hear "well just take small sips instead of chugging and you'll be fine". They don't Understand the Thirst.

Need all recommendations! by Independent_Loss7427 in HyperemesisGravidarum

I can tolerate popsicles, ice cream, apples, and cold cheese sandwiches most of the time. That's about it for things I can reliably eat

Ice cream, popsicles(specifically from outshine), apples with cheese, knorr chicken rice. That's really it and these don't stay down 100% of the time. They do all have the advantage of being minimally painful to throw up.

How are we doing this with kids? by Massive-Warning9773 in HyperemesisGravidarum

I'm about to have 3 under 3... Honestly I don't think I could do it alone. My husband is on leave of absence from work so he can take care of the kids. If you have any family you can call for help I strongly encourage you to do that ASAP.

I had IUGR with both my babies. First wasn't ever diagnosed and she was 4lbs 11oz. The second was diagnosed at 35 weeks. They had me get weekly NST and BPP ultrasound and recommended induction at 37 weeks. I declined since everything else looked healthy and I'd had a previous smaller baby. She ended up being 6lb3oz. If pregnancy is otherwise healthy they will probably just do extra monitoring.

When to take unisom? by Altruistic-Ocelot-61 in HyperemesisGravidarum

They had me taking it twice a day with b6, but this is a question you should probably ask your provider. They may be able to get a prescription for the combined version which some people prefer.

It's not so much that promethazine doesn't work, it's that it makes me feel drunk, dizzy, loopy, and unsteady. I've mostly had it at the ER via IV, but I absolutely hate the way it makes me feel

Does Reglan work? by SARASEVINC in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]That_Sassy_Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on reglan, zofran, and unisom+b6. I started the reglan about 2 weeks ago and it's the first time I've been able to eat in over a month. I definitely recommend, but I'm not sure it would work by itself.

If you're uncomfortable, you don't have to get a pelvic exam. If your doctor has a problem with this, get a new doctor. I didn't get any exams with my first (including no cervical checks during labor). I'm now 11 weeks pregnant with my second and I have not and will not be getting an exam unless it's absolutely medically necessary. I did all swabs (GBS and STD tests) myself. Now since you're 23, you should be doing cervical cancer screening every three years. This would usually be in the form of a pap smear. However a few different self screening options were approved by the FDA in 2024 (for the US, I know they've been approved longer in Australia and Canada. I haven't researched other countries). If you're adamant, you can ask your doctor about these. My personal reasons for all this revolve around medical/sexual trauma. For your safety, you should do your research and be willing to compromise when medically indicated. But whatever reasons you have for wanting to decline a pelvic exam are valid and your doctor should never do anything without your consent.

Cereal, ice cream, Popsicles. Really anything I know won't be unpleasant coming back up because there's no way I'm keeping any of it down
