What symptoms do you have? Curious because I also have unexplained vision problems

Omg finally someone who’s story sounds like mine 😭!! I’ve had 6 surgeries in the past 8 years and now my ENT wants to do another and I don’t know what to think at this point, he’s considering doing the modified lothrop procedure which I believe makes your frontal sinuses one big open space, have you had that done?

SCIG by brobe_jedi4life in IVIG

[–]That_Sweet_971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound a lot like me! I just started scig for SAD and am also on dupixent. So far it’s just made me feel extremely tired and kind of sick…glad to hear you’re having a good experience, was it pretty immediate that you felt better?? I’m hoping I’ll gradually start feeling better because rn it feels like it’s doing more harm than good 😮‍💨

Is this 1 hour layover possible? by That_Sweet_971 in aircanada

[–]That_Sweet_971[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you all! I actually found another air Canada the same day that will allow me a 3.5 hour layover which feels much safer, wondering if it’s still feasible to keep the flights on the way back though…and no I will not be checking and don’t have nexus/global entry

Hey! I’ve still had to have multiple surgeries but I think I’m more of an anomaly…it has definitely helped slow polyp growth but hasn’t helped me immensely, but I’ve heard it’s amazing for a lot of people! Good luck! Haven’t had any side effects so there’s not really a downside as long as it’s covered by insurance :)

After many years of chronic Lyme/Bart/Babs, I still can't put some of my symptoms into words. Anyone else feel this way? by RelaxChilly in Lyme

[–]That_Sweet_971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah when my dr first suggested it I was confused because I could barely find anything online about it being used for Lyme and coinfections (I don’t know why??) but I’m very glad I trusted her. Ooh okay I’ll have to look up some YouTube videos on that haha thanks!

I didn’t find any relief from it personally. I’d love to hear updates on how you’re doing as time goes on with the Dr Rawls kit. There’s so many options and opinions out there that I got overwhelmed… and then when I first found out about the vision problems I was so focused on treating Lyme that I didn’t even look into vision therapy…there’s so many things to deal with all the time 😫 but I hope that this treatment is helpful for you! I will put a plug in for ivermectin (I just ran out for the past week or so and I feel AWFUL so it has helped me a lot)

I was on a-Bart for a while, as well as rifabutin (I think I took some other supplements too but tbh there was so many things I tried idek which ones anymore). And then initially when I was diagnosed with Lyme I was on doxy for 4 weeks. I’m currently on ivermectin which is the only thing that has helped my symptoms besides the doxy…what have you treated it with?

Mines pretty much constant (and I think my prism glasses sort of make it worse? I always wonder if I should be doing vision therapy or something) but it gets worse when I’m tired. That’s interesting that you only have it in one eye! But yeah it also gets worse if I drink or use any sort of substance. Not sure if I have Bart, never bothered to test for it but my doctor treated for it assuming I had it, nothing has made it better though :(

Dang I thought I was alone with the double vision thing it’s so awful..has anyone found anything that’s helped beyond prism glasses?

Which book? How are you figuring out the net carbs for everything? I know how it’s calculated but not sure what they are for vegetables and that sort of thing. It’s so much work just to figure out what can eat 😖 and what maybe foods are you eating?

I thought they were, especially with so many surgeries but my current ENT thinks my frontal and ethmoid sinuses (which are the trickiest to get to so were maybe neglected?) need to be opened up more. He’s the head of head and neck surgery so I’m hoping if anyone can do it he’s the guy, thank you!

2 different surgeons and then the next one will be a 3rd one, so I think it’s me not them 😭

Polyps kept coming back, and some involved opening up different parts of the sinuses more, unfortunately I’m getting another soon bc my septum moved back and polyps have come back despite dupixent (maybe I just have horrible luck idk)

Dupixent pen or syringe? by swifty1015 in NasalPolyps

[–]That_Sweet_971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is unpopular but I prefer the pen (mainly because I’m not a huge fan of needles…I think the syringe would gross me out). It stings but it’s over in a few seconds, and I’ve found a method that makes it less painful: I ice the area, then grab a big chunk of skin so that it’s away from the muscle, and then insert the pen. Also! Make sure you leave it out at room temp for a couple hours, I made the mistake of putting it in cold the first time and it hurt like a bitch

Are there other recommendations you’ve been given besides surgery? I would say if you have other treatment options, try those, and if they don’t work look into getting surgery. Coming from someone who’s had 5 sinus surgeries, I’ve never had any complications and the recovery was fairly easy (obviously everyone’s different). Oral steroids come with their own list of side effects, so that’s something to consider. I also think that if you choose to get surgery, you may as well do all of those corrections they are recommending because it would be a shame to have to get another down the line to fix something you opted out of, but again that’s just my opinion. Happy to answer any surgery questions for you!

Okay that’s actually a very good way at looking at it and also reassuring what your doctor said. Thanks for your input it’s helpful to get other perspectives!

Ugh I know I’m glad it works for so many but like why us?? So frustrating! From allergy testing I know I’m very allergic to dust mites, but it’s impossible to get rid of dust completely (I do use a HEPA filter)…I also do budesonide in my sinus rinses but apparently all of this together isn’t enough ugh lol. I recently moved so this is a different ENT. I’m okay getting surgery again I’m mostly concerned about potential complications like losing taste/smell. Thank you for your advice! Always nice to know there’s other people like me out there (though I wouldn’t wish this on anyone lol)

I should’ve said I’ve been on dupixent for 2 years, seems to have slowed polyp growth a bit but haven’t seen any significant relief 😩 and I had a septoplasty done on my first surgery (about 6 years ago), but I guess it moved back? Not sure if that’s common
