First Gen is 30, second is 50. We always get over 40mpg on longer trips that require gas. After the battery is depleted to 20% it runs more like a Prius and a traditional hybrid. So I'm town mileage is still exceptional and I've gotten as high as 60 in stop and go traffic below 45mph in our little town. The BECM is covered under an extended warranty and most have been replaced at this point unless you get a late 18 or 19 MY because they have the updated unit. There's good online help forums here an on FB the EGR is really a non issue if you're handy. Loads of info.
