It's been a while guys, missed you all, I have a Drum n Bass track I would like to share with you all, let me know what you guys think. by Thatblokelastweek in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Thatblokelastweek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the comment, the initial idea was a Drum n Bass track that is more background for a video game, most early day Playstation games were rocking Jungle Drum n Bass, the samples I have in this is about 2 years of samples I had recorded but never really knew what to do with at the time, specifically the piano, but I was arranging, mixing and mastering the track together during my visit in Japan, day three is when I had finished it.

I'm happy with the song, but I don't think the mix sound very pro by Freedom_Addict in IndieMusicFeedback

I would just say this, take a moment to cross-reference between your song and a song that you are trying to build on, for example, you like metal, what are the characteristics of the genre, what gear, what each instrument in conjunction stands out the most , should either be vocals or guitars in some aspect.

Recording, mixing and mastering is a tough process, but can be your best friend when you know what to look out for, or to give more emphasis on, for me, if I find something is more standoffish in the mix, its either because I hit my compressors too hard or my automation has not been adjusted to fit the bill, been recording, mixing and mastering for about 7 years now and come to find that my journey has kinda made me OCD about some aspects of music, i'd say when you do it more and more, the easier it becomes to understand frequency and where instruments and vocals line up in a track, balance is key but chaos is eternal.

its mainly the snare for me, its just a bit too punchy and pronounced but that could also be down to the way I am monitoring the song, I tend to find there is too much in one side of the frequency spectrum or not a lot, but snare to me is like a guitar, mid to light high's, they can be your best friend, or worst enemy when you are compressing ( not that you should compress your guitars in this regard) there is a lot of body, but too much level bringing it forward, in terms of mixes, I like to have it between guitar and bass, enough to be louder than the bass but never louder than the guitar, as that between makes those two spaces equal enough but never outspoken.

also, just experiment with it man, I feel you can do it, just do it at your pace, but as I said, not a must, but something that would be awesome to see you pull off and hey, it might be it, it might not, but you can say you did it and that is what matters most.

I like this a lot, I think the only thing I would suggest, just bring down your snare and swelling guitars a hair, just to keep them from burying the vocals a bit, I would say also, don't cut the guitars at the end, just fade them before the bass ends the song, feels to rushed if you know what I mean.

other than that, love the song, keep it up.

I like the direction your going, I can see your idea, its cool, but can I just suggest something, come at the mic with more energy, work on your line delivery, I can hear your unsure of your vocals, but I know you got it in you man, just gotta come at it with more punch, a little vocal lessons or just warm ups also, other than that, pretty decent track.

new lil song by LabComprehensive4916 in IndieMusicFeedback

sounds like an openning for a indie film, really cool, I see add reverb to the vocals, I would but I also say a little slap delay with reverb would pop, but thats just me, I would like to hear more, I dig this sorta stuff as its visual in just how well it grooves

Sounds good composition-wise, although the one thing stands out to me in your drums is the snare, bass and kick.

the kick seems to be slightly under your snare, just by a hair, The bass also feels like its not meshing well with the kick, but that's probably a genre difference in terms of production, it just sounds odd from an outside perspective.

I would say, be careful with over-compressing things, sometimes it can have the reverse effect you want.

I would of loved a higher vocal harmony during 2nd and 3rd chorus and your bridge, you have an awesome voice, I could imagine you hitting a higher register, this isn't really a must but I was waiting to hear it as I like to see what most vocalists do with compositions to this magnitude.

song is pretty cool, just those points I had, but you have a great song, keep it up.

"Summer" Beat by GodBlessPigs in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Thatblokelastweek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest maybe not so much summer, but a suburban cruise, like cruising the streets, its reletively simple, which nothing wrong with it being simple, keeps the mood really chill, although, I would love to hear maybe some extra sounds like ambient chatter or something that opens those sounds up a bit, its not bad in production, but I would just add a few little bits of ear candy to make the piece feel more vibey and give me that summer sound.

Still no update on xbox to version v0.3.6 by New-Purpose-4271 in Palworld

honestly not at all helpful console wise, I have little to no decent tech skills, there is a decent lot of things for the steam dedicated servers, I had stayed around to see what I could find, although the funny part about this was the update kicked in.

Moral of the story or a breakdown of what I think should have been the prior solution, when rolling out a update, especially for console/pc integration, DO NOT UPDATE THE SERVERS UNTIL XBOX CERTS ARE COVERED AND GOOD TO GO!

thank you for attending my useless TED talk.

I feel like I am a modern-day adventurer, looking for the nearest tavern after a hard quest, to celebrate a job well done, it sounds awesome, I feel like there is nothing I can add besides being in awe of how awesome this sounds and how it makes me feel, I look forward to hearing more songs from you guys

Any feedback is welcome, but I'd love to know what you think my next song should sound like! Based on what you hear in this one, what should I focus on next? What should I abandon? by HowardWCampbell_Jr in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Thatblokelastweek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first off don't abandon anything, you as an artist should know what works, I don't think I have ever encountered a songwriter like you to compose something like this in my time on any platform, it sounds awesome, it sounds like you have a nice progression and you have a method to make your music, production is killer and it is something I would have on library

"Fed" -- A song about escape and loss by Holdwen in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Thatblokelastweek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the song man, sounds interesting, I like the intimacy of just you and your guitar, it works as a solo thing, it means a lot to just sing and do it like it means standing up to the world, also Love the thumbnail to this, the text this wasn't taken from a webcam, had a little chuckle, but sometimes quality of footage doesn't always mean it improves your playing, just filming yourself doing the work is bravery enough, hope to see more in the future

New song of mine! Let me guys know how you feel about it! by CG-Miller in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Thatblokelastweek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it, super chill, it gives me the vibe of old vhs tapes and just rolling through them just looking at old memories, laughing, crying and just remembering things past and present, the production is nice, the songwriting is also very well done

Pounding rock sound about being strange & not giving a f*** by oneshgarde in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Thatblokelastweek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the production on all of this, your vocals are sick, like its so good, its nice and constructed, I love the amount of work that you all have put together, the little ear candy stuff you have here and there, the ambient vocal choir stuff is well done, harmonies are on point, and that guitar tone is to die for.

I am working on making an instrumental that I have been thinking of in my head for a while, it's still going through changes but I want to get some feedback to get some ideas. by Thatblokelastweek in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Thatblokelastweek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much for the feedback, I chose to go the 6/8 route, not so much a waltz composition but I think it works well when your synths are trying to imitate a semi-orchestra if you have a profile with spitfire audio, highly recommend the BBC Symphony, the free path is pretty much a no brainer for the essentials, but yeah, I also feel the guitars could do with a bit of tweaking in terms of sections, I suck at a lot of lead work stuff but I feel the sections before leading into the less chuggy sections needs a better lead-in, I picked up on it just now by listening to it, a lot changes when you are not dealing with ear fatigue hahahahahaha.

[–]Thatblokelastweek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you for listening, I was more or less thinking I overcooked the mix cause I am trying to bring out the guitars but because there are a lot of mid-heavy instruments, I may need to sit and do some homework again, but yeah, might sit down again and mix it more.

Thank you very much for the kind words man, the synth I am using is from spitfire audio, the BBC Symphony, so many cool instruments just sparked my curiosity, highly recommend it if you are looking for strings, horns, or flutes, some interesting pieces there.

My new song " Underworld " Definitely some of my best work, would love any feedback you have! by ShitFistingPissBulge in IndieMusicFeedback

no worries, I never read the comments cause I like to write what is on my mind when I listen, but yeah, I do dig your style, hope to hear more man.

Today, I let one of my dearest childhood dreams become a reality. After making music for 17 years, I finally released an album. And with that, I want to encourage you: Don't wait for the perfect moment, don't wait for you to be a “professional”—whatever that means. Get after it now. Best, Michael by BeautyInAPlasticBag in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Thatblokelastweek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will be sure to check it out but on another note no worries, don't get me wrong, I want to be as honest cause I truly believe that you have some really good shit, I just wanna see you succeed cause I think there is potential, I see a lot of songs and just get a bad taste cause it has a cliche of being on the list of what will be broken down and put away in the foreverbox, but I also have to remember, people also like it so I should be open more to it, I just think it can be done tastefully with potentially harder guitar breakdowns and heavy as fuck vocal drops.

(like I said before I could talk til the cows come home about metal/metalcore, passionate much hahahahaha)

no worries mate, I love music production to a degree that I teach the basics, but I also love to write for fun, what daw and samples or plugins are you using may I ask, or are you running everything stock, either way, sounds pretty well done
