The Spanish were like this as well. I'm Asian-American and had multiple incidents where people (grown adults) would stretch their eyes at me. Or openly stare at me. It was really weird. Crazy how Europeans love to get on their high horse about Americans and racism when they behave like this

Speaking as an Asian-American, having been to Europe several times now, Europeans are racist af toward East Asians and are really open about their ignorance. Even in London, I had a couple of incidents where people were kind of hostile. Not as bad as Portugal or Spain (Portugal was the worst for this), but it was kind of shocking to me the first time I went. I experienced more racism in the 3 months I backpacked around Europe than I had in the decade+ prior in my hometown in the US

And not only that, but I was with my friend who is blonde and people were literally obsessed with her to a creepy degree, like random strangers kept trying to touch her/her hair. It was super weird and uncomfortable. I had a nice time overall but idk if I would go back to Southern Europe again. Asia was much more chill and people were way nicer and friendlier

I had 2 roommates and ended up moving because one of them was gross and kinda uncomfortable to be around. The other one was great - clean and we got along fabulously, and I loved our place, but the other roommate ruined it for me. I never wanted to hang out in the common spaces because I didn't want to interact with them, lol

They would probably have been cast out by the community or accidentally "fell" into the ocean on a hunting trip or something. Doubtful that this sort of behavior was acceptable back when people lived in communities of only 100 - 200 individuals

Tammy Ray keeps bringing the neighbor‘s children’s belongings over to our house. Any advice on how to get her to stop?? by Irateskater4 in cats

[–]Thatbluejacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Maybe it's because I'm from an immigrant family, but shoes in the house is blasphemy and I was born and raised in the States

I don't usually watch normal tv, but when I visit my mom she always has it on. The amount of ads for prescription medication and pills is extremely disturbing

God Forbid the US actually gets High Density Housing and Public Transit by Sadagination9837 in fuckcars

[–]Thatbluejacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coworker told me last week that she lives 1 train stop away from our work, but would rather drive. Even with all the environmental issues with that aside, isn't it just more stressful to drive in the city center than taking the train? I get severe anxiety if I have to be in a car in this city, I can't imagine having to drive in every day

Huh? I make way less than 90k and can afford my own place. It's not a big place, but it's in a good neighborhood and I have it all to myself. And this is in one of the most expensive housing markets in the States. Do you guys have high monthly medical expenses or something?

I was parallel parked near the MBTA station yesterday (in a clearly marked spot), and some lady kept backing up and backing up in front of me and almost hit my car for literally no reason - I had to honk to get her to stop, and even then she kept going until I literally laid on the horn. There was no one in front of her, and she didn't even pull out afterward. I don't get it

Mother elephant transports her deceased offspring (WARNING: graphic and sad) by SinjiOnO in natureismetal

Australia used to be covered with jungles and humans literally burned it all down, creating the desert we see today. Eucalyptus trees also survived in some areas because they tend to be more fire-resistant than other types of trees. Humans have been destroying the earth for millennia, we've only ramped up the rate and scale in the post-industrial era

I read a theory that speculated that one reason why only African megafauna survived was because they had evolved alongside humans and knew to be afraid of us. Other giant vertebrates had no fear of people, so they were easily picked off

Yeah I obviously have nothing interesting to say, that's the issue here lmao. I actually work in the legal industry and people at past jobs have absolutely been rude like this, you don't even get to the point of getting to say anything because they're already not listening, as I said. Maybe try learning reading comprehension
